Xbox.com lists Rock Band DLC through January: Oasis, Smashing Pumpkins and more
Stealing the thunder out of Harmonix's weekly Rock Band downloadable content announcement, Xbox.com has listed the rest of the month's DLC.
Week of Jan. 22: Oasis Pack (440 MS points/ $5.50)
[Update: Looks like someone at Microsoft jumped the gun on the announcement a little bit and they've pulled everything that hadn't been announced already (they neglected to update their intro paragraph though). Never fear, former Joystiqer Jared Rea linked us to a screenshot on his blog to cast away any lingering doubts as to the one-time existence of the information. Behold!]

Well that kinda ruins our surprises on Monday.
Oh well. Yay for more Rush and Pumpkins!
NoHitHair @ Jan 17th 2008 6:51PM
I couldn't agree more. Thank god for the first post here being a positive remark towards Rush and the Pumpkins.
Although, I was really disappointed at first when I read "Siva" - I thought it was "Soma", which is a song I would've been ecstatic to play.
Harmonix, where's our "Silverfuck?" Drummers need love too.
ill trooper @ Jan 16th 2008 6:04PM
Oasis original recordings? OMG Singing, Arguing Pony Brothers!
KrazyIan @ Jan 16th 2008 6:07PM
Excellent picks for Rush and the Pumpkins. Both of those songs rock and aren't your typical greatest hits (e.g. not just Tom Sawyer and Zero).
Monkeydog @ Jan 16th 2008 6:11PM
LIVE FOREVER!!
WANT!
GoldenS1104 @ Jan 16th 2008 6:12PM
Finally! Oasis in a rhythm game! Now all we need is beatles and I'll be set (like that'll ever happen...).
Edguy @ Jan 16th 2008 6:13PM
Hey look, Smashing Pumpkins!
Rock Band, you fail to disappoint.
Kia @ Jan 16th 2008 6:13PM
Coheed a cover? Ugh, talk about disappointing. That is not a sound to try and replicate.
David Dryman @ Jan 16th 2008 7:33PM
I agree completely. But I am glad to have more Coheed.. even if it is a "fake"
harma41 @ Jan 16th 2008 6:17PM
I think Rock Band is going to have a hundred new songs before we ever see anything for Guitar Hero III. Why can't red octane just get something out already!
Velvet Revolver and the Foo Fighters are not Rock Legends, so they don't count.
XanthouS @ Jan 16th 2008 6:19PM
People still play GHIII?
kastonie @ Jan 16th 2008 6:24PM
I know man...
When the hell will there be more songs for Guitar hero. I'd totally buy rock band but i dont have friends to come over and play it with me...
man.... now i sound like a huge loser....hahahaha
brandon_r87 @ Jan 16th 2008 6:26PM
You can't mention Oasis without mentioning Blur, so I'll say that I'd like to see a Blur pack to match the Oasis pack.
edgore @ Jan 16th 2008 6:30PM
Blur would be good, as would Pulp. Can we have a Pulp-pack please?
T3H WICKERMAN (FDF) @ Jan 16th 2008 6:32PM
Or mentioning Pulp. I would prefer them over either blur or oasis. Not every week can be a winner apparently, and gh3 did get a mastodon song to its pathetic credit. I remember months ago when most people were still kissing gh3s ass and said rock band would be shit. Well Im glad common sense prevailed!
Savage303 @ Jan 16th 2008 6:34PM
I actually prefer knowing what's coming out in advanced so I can plan my purchases accordingly rather than waiting to see what else comes out. If you go to the site now, it doesn't mention these new songs... looks like Microsoft dropped the ball. Hope these songs do come out because I really want the Jan 29th pack.
Kyera @ Jan 16th 2008 6:34PM
The last two weeks have since been removed from the website, but they still left the comment about Oasis in the opening paragraphs.
Alexisonfire @ Jan 16th 2008 6:49PM
Wait, Ten Speed is a Cover? What? Even though Welcome Home is not one? What's up with that.
Usually, I don't mind the Rock Band covers. They're actually pretty good quality. But I wonder how this one will stack up.
KBrew @ Jan 16th 2008 6:57PM
There's no chance it could be any good. Whoever worked out a licensing agreement that lets Harmonix use a master recording for one song and then force them to cover another song from the same album is an idiot.
jsn @ Jan 16th 2008 7:08PM
as ALWAYS the drum tracks for that song are either mixed down or the master is unavailable all together. This is the case with every cover in the game. Stop bitching about it and get used to accepting it. It's how it's going to be and it doesn't ruin the game one bit..
Savage303 @ Jan 16th 2008 6:55PM
I don't think Ten Speed is a cover. IGN.com is reporting that it's a master track and I don't see why it would be a cover if Welcome Home was a master.
Travis @ Jan 16th 2008 7:00PM
what i like about Rock Band...is that it seems to be covering a lot of Genres...not just crazy slamming metal... I like what I've seen so far...
however...
I won't entirely lose it until I see a Flaming Lips Package (including at least "The W.A.N.D", "Turn It On") and a Modest Mouse Package (including "Dramamine", "Cowboy Dan" and "Night On The Sun")
but until then...
Corey @ Jan 16th 2008 10:53PM
I'm all for some Flaming Lips!
Cesaria @ Jan 21st 2008 7:05PM
I agree with you completely. Flaming Lips FTW.
Tyler Treat @ Jan 16th 2008 7:06PM
Finally, some more DLC worth buying.
Savage303 @ Jan 16th 2008 7:08PM
I want a Tom Petty pack. Free Fallin', American Girl, Anything That's Rock and Roll and some others would work well. I'd also like to see some AC/DC, more Metallica (Fade to Black and Master of Puppets are a must) and some Megadeth (anything from Rust in Peace).
jsn @ Jan 16th 2008 7:13PM
it's widely assumed that the "unnamed metallica album" will either be master of puppets or their upcoming album. I vote MoP.
Savage303 @ Jan 16th 2008 7:18PM
I do like their last album, St. Anger, and I'm one of the few who do, but I think I'd rather have an awesome classic album like Master of Puppets than their upcoming album which couldn't turn out bad.
I also vote Master of Puppets.
Julian @ Jan 16th 2008 7:13PM
I would like to see a Blur pack, a No Doubt pack and a Genesis/Phil Collins pack (Because Phil Collins is a master drummer.)
Also a Morrissey/The Smiths pack would be nice but very unlikely.
Corey @ Jan 16th 2008 10:56PM
If they release a Phil Collins pack, it should be required to sing and drum at the same time.
I think "In The Air Tonight" would be an awesome song for DLC.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Jan 17th 2008 10:11AM
I'd rather Genesis than Phil Collins solo.
creid @ Jan 16th 2008 7:16PM
Oasis eh? How bout something from The Smiths?
baby sea tuna @ Jan 17th 2008 9:09AM
Yes!
Jeff @ Jan 16th 2008 7:18PM
These covers of Rush are starting to bug me. I don't care how much it costs, they need to get some real Geddy Lee action.
jorojoserojas @ Jan 16th 2008 8:06PM
I think it may also have to do with Neil Peart's drumming. I could be completely wrong though. In fact, just ignore me all together.
jynxycat @ Jan 16th 2008 9:00PM
What ?
Charron @ Jan 17th 2008 6:27AM
No, joro is pretty close. What masters there still are (I think many were damaged or lost) are unusable due to how they were recorded or mixed.
bounchfx @ Jan 16th 2008 7:22PM
holy crap. Working man is now my favorite song in the game.
It's insane, like a solo for everyone the entire time.
OTAM @ Jan 16th 2008 7:24PM
Working Man from Rush = Instant win.
Youthinized @ Jan 16th 2008 7:24PM
Wow, Rush already this early? Thats weird but effing awesome! Too bad its a cover. I'm starting to think that most of Rush's Masters are lost. Or Rush wants too much for them...
Not my choices for C&C and Pumpkins. Maybe they're holding out for later packs from both artists. I'm glad Mellon Collie is still left untouched. Making me think they have the rights to the album.
wolfpackee @ Jan 16th 2008 7:27PM
I guess I'm old school but I don't consider Smashing Pumpkins progressive rock. Give me some Yes, ELP or Kansas. Or for some newer stuff, how about Dream Theater
David @ Jan 16th 2008 7:53PM
"Owner of a Lonely Heart" would kick so much ass on Rock Band.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Jan 17th 2008 10:12AM
I second all your suggestions. But especially DT.
Tamago @ Jan 16th 2008 7:59PM
awesome! wonderwall!
OTAM @ Jan 16th 2008 8:21PM
I'm still hoping for ANYTHING by Type O Negative.
Kizzle @ Jan 28th 2008 1:24PM
That would be great, but I'm not holding my breath. I'd love to see something like Too Late: Frozen or An Ode To Locksmiths.
It would be fun if they could somehow force people to match both the note and pitch of Peter's voice, though.
David @ Jan 16th 2008 8:26PM
I'd personally love anything from the Be Here Now album. Oh well, buyers can't be choosers. I think.
jynxycat @ Jan 16th 2008 9:02PM
"Progressive Pack" ?
Rush is the only progressive band there. Where's the other big names in the genre, Tool, DT, or maybe even some BTBAM.
gamernewz.net @ Jan 16th 2008 9:46PM
TooL would push me over the edge
MC @ Jan 17th 2008 7:40AM
Am I the only one who wants Mew for some current prog?
Apocalypso or Snow Brigade would kick so much as in Rock Band.
