MotorStorm track pack arrives on PSN today

We had told you previously about some new MotorStorm tracks that were in the works, but a few details have changed in the intervening days and we wanted to make you aware. First off, as you might have noticed on January 10, they're not coming out on January 10. They're coming out today. Also at that time, we told you that we thought the tracks would run $7, based on the £3.49 in the press release. Well, apparently, they'll cost you $2.99. (Our English friends are just going to love that.)
A couple of the details are still the same though. For one, the track pack does include courses called Diamondback Speedway and Eagle's Nest. Also still true: Releasing new DLC nearly a year after a game is really, really great and we wish more companies would follow suit.

most companies work on the sequel.
All these extras tracks will probably be available there as well.

Is this the update that makes it play as well and fun as the technically inadequate Excite Truck?
Jtenma @ Jan 17th 2008 10:47AM
To you, Exitetruck=Motorstorm...."technically "? just askin'
Vidikron (FU) @ Jan 17th 2008 11:06AM
I've played both and prefer Motorstorm by far.
el serpiente @ Jan 17th 2008 11:11AM
LOL, excite truck. You're so cute, with your little mini-games. Now shush, and let the grown ups discuss Motorstorm.
FidliousWong @ Jan 17th 2008 11:13AM
I liked Excitetruck better when it was called Hydro Thunder... and it wasn't barren empty worlds... and it wasn't so random... and it was fun.
Hey Midway, Hydro Thunder 2, please?
Vidikron (FU) @ Jan 17th 2008 11:16AM
Hydro Thunder.... I loved that game. I had it as part of one of the Midway collections on the original Xbox.

BANSHEE!
Agathos @ Jan 17th 2008 10:32AM
Here come the bitch and moaners trying to attack this with the statement "The game should have been finished before release!"
So to those dummies I remind you that this was a fully completed, bad ass, well reviewed across the board game from day 1. And on top of that they've continued to add patches to improve things and offer optional additional content at attractive prices.
Good stuff.
Jtenma @ Jan 17th 2008 10:44AM
I agree, the graphics are still top notch as well. I still often find myself saying 'wow'. Oh, and enough with the split-screen shit already!
kbomb1upc @ Jan 17th 2008 11:16AM
I like the love the developers are giving Motorstrom. Not too many companies would give this kind of attention to a game. Great Job. But it would be even better if I still played it... :(
FidliousWong @ Jan 17th 2008 11:16AM
Of the things they've added, one question. Can you make your own races? I mean, I loved Motorstorm but the ticket system almost totally ruined the game for me. I don't want time trials either. What I want is to say "I want to race on this track with these settings and this difficulty" and go.
If they've added that, I'll definately reinvest and buy all the new tracks.

Ok so I barely got a PS3 on Christmas and dl'd the demo and I love this game. Ill probably be picking it up. I was impressed with the visiuals as well Jtenma.
Jtenma @ Jan 17th 2008 11:28AM
Indeed, I would becareful tho'...since your joining L8 to the party, you'll see alot of "legends and gods" (high-ranked individuals). If your not into losing to get better, you're doomed! I learned the hard way when I got off for a bit and tried to play again...(and I'm a legend)
Vidikron (FU) @ Jan 17th 2008 12:39PM
Hey, Fenix, do you have Warhawk?
Matt B @ Jan 17th 2008 12:56PM
Fenix,
The game looks way better than the demo too.
ninxf @ Jan 17th 2008 1:00PM
Add me and we'll do some racing (or flying if you have Warhawk)

Is Warhawk a good game? I was thinking about picking it up this week...
GRANTED @ Jan 17th 2008 1:46PM
warhawk is unbelievably fun. despite loving cod4 i keep going back to warhawk weekly--nothing like hauling ass in a jeep with the flag while an army of warhawks, jeeps and tanks following close behind. i've had some epic battles in warhawk, kinds that cant be replicated or appreciated until you try it out yourself in a 32p ctf.
License to ill @ Jan 17th 2008 2:53PM
Guess I'll be picking it up friday then, if its even close to being as fun as CoD4...
xFenixKnightx @ Jan 17th 2008 4:00PM
I dont have Warhawk but Ive been wanting to get it, wish there was a timed online demo atleast. Guess its worth it just to go ahead and get it then right?
My PSN ID is the same as my LIVE Gamertag and Joystiq name

Good to know this game is still getting some great support, the load times still drive me insane though.
Crazy 88 @ Jan 17th 2008 1:40PM
I wish they would have had a patch for the load times. It would have been nice to install some of the game on the hard drive.
Jtenma @ Jan 17th 2008 2:53PM
Load times are no longer a problem, in fact it takes a little longer than COD4 to load all players and the track itself. However, when one or more players are having trouble connecting to the track, it will say "waiting for other players"...but thats not the games problem. Who started this "loading time" rumor anyway?
Nick the Hero of Canton @ Jan 17th 2008 2:17PM
I've played both, prefer Excite Truck (I don't know why, but for some reason I do), but it's pretty damn close.
Vince UK @ Jan 17th 2008 3:13PM
Sir, your opinion is wrong!
Mind you, I've only played Excite Truck for five minutes but I own a copy of MotorStorm, so my opinion of your opinion is uninformed.
Zeus.:God @ Jan 17th 2008 5:28PM
San Francisco Rush, Rush 2, and Rush 2049 all rape this game.
