Virtua Fighter 5 update on 360 brings saved replays, pants
X3F reports that SEGA has launched an auto-update for Virtua Fighter 5 on the Xbox 360. The update includes various bug fixes, and minor tweaks to the online gameplay experience. Most notably, however, the update adds the ability to save replays from online matches, and select pants for your character independent of the rest of the outfit.
Oh that's right. Now, El Blaze can be sporting Costume B, but wearing the pants from Costume A. It's a brave new world, people. Check out the full list of updates after the break.

That's all the game needed, pants.
No seriously this game is amazing, one of the fighters I have considered purchasing in a long long time. I didn't purchase it, but rented it a few times.

Also El Blaze is the man, my fighter of choice.
FOXHOUND @ Jan 17th 2008 7:30AM
*another EL BLAZE fan here too*
I swear if I hadn't already bought the game on PS3, I would've snagged the X360 version. :] I can't wait for an EVOLUTION version for both systems... it's still one of the best bargins I ever bought on PS2.
Anticrawl @ Jan 17th 2008 7:41AM
Hrm, well then perhaps I will hold off buying this superb fighter until this "Evolution" edition releases.

i mean, i love the game...but im more of a casual player...so playing online is dam near pure rape every time...its like nothing but pro's on there. i think im 1-8, and thats only becuase the guy let me win the last rd.
i wish they tracked player match rankings though, cuz i might be almost at .500 on that. but EFF ranked matches.
:sigh:

I know what you mean dude, a friend of mine is a hardcore Virtua Fighter guy. Plays all over the country in events and whatnot. Has 4 arcade machines he made himself. Two with ps3s that he bought just so he could play the game and then two 360s when it came out on the 360 because he wanted to practice online when his arcade fighter buddies weren't over. The guy has a boner for fighters, also the only black guy I've ever seen at a Virtua Fighter tournament haha.

Where's mah PS3 update to version C?
Nate @ Jan 17th 2008 8:44AM
I'm guessing that since they couldn't be bothered to implement online for us, they're not going to be throwing us any other bones either. Maybe in the next version.
theCardinal @ Jan 17th 2008 8:47AM
Well, I can't really see VF working very well over PSN, what with lag and all.
FidliousWong @ Jan 17th 2008 9:05AM
Umm, what lag? OMG, did PS3 get lag since Tuesday? STUPID FIRMWARE UPDATES!
theCardinal @ Jan 17th 2008 9:09AM
There's lag in any network. And there's certainly lag over any internet connection. With fighting games' requirement for percise timing, I don't see how they can work well online.
FidliousWong @ Jan 17th 2008 11:20AM
Well, you and I agree on that point. Plus fighting games are more of an upclose and personal multiplayer genre. I thought you were just trying to make a cut on PSN which, for all intents are purposes, is the fastest lagfree network I've played on aside from LAN.
Anticrawl @ Jan 17th 2008 7:15PM
You kids have no idea how networking works. Internet connections are more than fast enough to support lag free online gaming. Gaming doesn't take up much bandwith.
theCardinal @ Jan 19th 2008 7:44AM
Lag is due to a high latency, not due to low bandwidth. If you want to understand how lag exists in a high bandwidth system I suggest googling both terms.
JJ @ Jan 17th 2008 6:36AM
I'm sure this will be great... for the 20 or so odd people who bought this game on 360.
I joke, I joke, but this is one game that deserved to sell better than it did.
Norm @ Jan 17th 2008 12:08PM
Thing is, I ALWAYS have someone to play when I hop online. It must have sold pretty well for a fighter, because I can rarely find online matches in Hyper Fighting, and 3rd Strike is hit or miss.

jesus @ anticrawl
yeh...i'll pass on that kinda dedication ha.
well..if anyone wants any easy wins on XBL hit me up.

Yeah crazy guy but great friend to have since I get to play arcade style Virtua Fighter 5 for free.
Norm @ Jan 17th 2008 12:06PM
I noticed new stuttering in the menu screens with sound issues. Also, I noticed that your gamer Icon is showing during online matches, which interestingly appeared as a picture of my girlfriend, who apparently was playing before me. She must've been playing Uno or something and changed my picture. Anyway, cool addition, online tourneys will finally be a reality.
