We really wish we had a better understanding of the Oblivion PSP game (formally known as The Elder Scrolls Travels: Oblivion) but we still don't get it. We saw the first nugget in OPM in the fall of 2006 and it's been radio silence since then. Last we heard, folks who pre-ordered the game were being called by retailers in November to learn that it had been canceled.Today though, CVG thinks they might have found a sign of life with a listing for the PSP title appearing on Amazon with a ship date of June 30, 2008. Bethesda was mum, telling us: "[We] still aren't talking about what's up with Oblivion PSP. We'll let folks know when that changes." So, a listing, but no confirmation. Hey square one. Good to see you again.

I disagree, of course (Crisis Core and Chains of Olympus, for two)
None of the current PSP games appeal to me. Thank you.

Didn't like the console version of Oblivion. I'd much rather play it on a handheld.

And while they're adapting it for the PSP control layout they can maybe fix the combat too.

Well, I guess most PSP developers don't understand this. Must be why its games are selling like shit. And why I'm never buying one. ;)

If I remember correctly, the PSP version was dungeons-only, no world map. There were dungeons you could go to in the main game that weren't there, that you could only go into on the PSP, and you would import your character and go through the dungeon on the go, then when you got home, you would (de?) port your character back to the console version, keeping the loot and xp.
Since the console version is already out, patched, DLC'd and final many times over, I don't think that level of connectivity would work anymore. Also, Oblivion wouldn't fully port to the PSP unless severely gimped.
It could be a stand-alone game, but after oblivion, it would seem so shallow it wouldn't be worth it.
If only the PSP/PS3 sold more to make it worthwhile to pursue. Nobody will do the cool things it is technically capable of since there aren't enough out there to make these things profitable.
