After just a few short hours of exclusivity over at IGN, Capcom has unshackled the screenshots of Bionic Commando Rearmed upon a clamoring internet. Check 'em out in the gallery below, or enjoy the trailer in something besides IGN's awful player after the break.
Meanwhile get Megaman Powered up!,is pure greatness.
I never played the original but hell this is Capcom and other than the horrible PC onimusha port (I'm sure it was Ubisoft fault anyway) I have never ever played a Capcom game that I haven't enjoy.
Exploring and collecting stuff FTL. Collecting stuff is not my idea of fun I hope it doesn't wins.
About the Jumping stuff, well he is carrying a Bionic metal arm which most weight tons so the lack of jumping is somehow justified. Like Gears of war, obviously if you are carrying a heavy armor and big guns your jumping skills will suffer.
I hope the original version is also packed inside that would be great.
Yeah, I really hated playing those rehashed Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect, and Bioshock games. I wish we could go back to the good old days of Megaman 8 and Final Fantasy VII.
This looks extremely promising. The gameplay changes they're making look like they'll modernize the game without sacrificing the swinging action and cheesiness that made the original so fun and endearing.
Speaking of which, why isn't it out on the VC yet?
Although I like Contra a lot, there wasn't much depth to the game, it was just run/jump away from the bullet and shoot...
I never played Bionic Commando, but the setting seems to be much bigger, also, there is much more ways to defeat your enemies, and that arm looks awesome.
and like I said, if Capcom added a greater difficulty like when they did for DMC3 (Dante Must Die mode), then that would be amazing...
"Probably the only thing lost in the 2D/3D transition is the reaction time right after he lands: in the 2D one, when he lands, he can run and shoot right away; in the 3D one, he has to finish his landing animated sequence."
I don't think it was completly lost, actually, it seems that the landing animation depends on the force of landing, because there are some parts in which he lands and shoots right away. If it is indeed according to the force, then kudos to Capcom
Never heard nor played Bionic Commando before, but I'd be damned if it didn't look fun!

Konami, this is how you remake a game. Not like that 30 frames per second trainwreck Dracula X Chronicles on PSP. Mankind ill needs crappy framerate sidescrollers such as that. That side, the only remake I really want is Wild Guns. Come on Natsume, do it. I'll give you 4 cookies.
If you seriously believe adding the ability to jump in a 2D Bionic Commando game is a good idea, then you have missed the entire point of it.
It /wasn't/ a standard platformer. The whole IDEA was to use the grapple to get around. If that concept doesn't work for you, that's fine, there's an entire universe of traditional platform games where almost all of them feature the ability to show off that Nike-assisted vertical leap.
Bionic Commando did the whole platform thing /different/, which is why it had a certain appeal.
It's like saying, "Gosh, 'Tetris' would be so much better if the pieces didn't fall from the sky increasingly faster and if I could move pieces that I'd already placed so I could get them all lined up nicely. Instead, I'm left with large holes in my pile and it's just inconvenient!"

I'm looking forward to at least trying this out... maybe for the nostalgia, and definitely because it looks cool.
Neon Jebus @ Jan 18th 2008 3:12PM
Makes me want to see a Mega Man title redone for Live Arcade.

Me too.

Unless they added a "jump" button, count me out. That got on my nerves in the old game!
They'll never convince me that this military dude with a bionic freakin' arm CAN'T jump...wtf?
Colin M @ Jan 18th 2008 3:50PM
The arm was really, really, ridiculously heavy.
Mr.ESC @ Jan 18th 2008 3:14PM
Oh sweet!
I can't wait.
Garrett @ Jan 18th 2008 3:25PM
Have there been any screenshots of the overhead levels? I haven't noticed any.

go to
bioniccommando.com/
and vote for the ability to jump in the game.
Magetto @ Jan 18th 2008 3:29PM
No! No! No! No! No! No!!!
If they added jump in it will cease to be Bionic Commando, and loose what made it so unique and fun.
Mr.ESC @ Jan 18th 2008 4:01PM
I would like more bosses and Cinematics.

This is generation of re-releases, repackage, ports, remakes and sequels.
Original games are so last generation.

If MM8 and FF7 are your "good ol days" then you should go ask your mommy for another juice and take a nappy ...

Don't know if anyone mentioned it yet, but it seems like it will hit PC too. There is a nvidia and Games for Windows-logo at the end of the trailer.

It looks like Contra with a huge dosis of crack...
All I need to know is if they are offering different difficulties, a la "Dante Must Die" kind of frustrating mode...
ThornedVenom @ Jan 18th 2008 4:16PM
"Contra on crack"? If there were more explosions, why not.
Here, it seemed to have a lot more platforming elements, so I guess that if your crack makes you jumpy, why not...
.. wait, Bionic Commando guy cannot jump. =P
Noshino @ Jan 18th 2008 5:33PM
ThornedVenom,
This game looks much better than Contra
Although I like Contra a lot, there wasn't much depth to the game, it was just run/jump away from the bullet and shoot...

When this game was announced I was fairly 'meh' on the whole ordeal. After now seeing it action I've upgraded from 'meh' to 'OMFG f'n f'ers!!!'
Can't wait for the nostalgic goosebumps to cover my body. Def. picking this up as soon as it drops.
NotASenator @ Jan 18th 2008 4:19PM
Have we done any Bionic Commando: Reamed jokes yet?
skokefoe @ Jan 18th 2008 4:35PM
Wow, this looks excellent. I'm all for any 2D action, remakes or not. This is the way to do it...
Einhanderkiller @ Jan 18th 2008 6:31PM
The bloom looks a little overdone in some places, but otherwise it looks good.
Derek @ Jan 18th 2008 11:26PM
I'm sorry, but putting a NES game on XBLA is fucking blasphemy. And oh wow, they updated the graphics! It's the same fucking game....get over it
Vidikron (FU) @ Jan 19th 2008 2:40PM
If I could vote you down multiple time I would.
