Yeah, Mario Kart DS is also where I see cheaters. Many cheaters are item hackers, pulling very powerful items (star, blue shell) from first and second place.

Snaking on the other hand isn't cheating at all. It was purposely designed into the game and is used in Nintendo's own tournaments.

Meh. I rarely cheat at all. It's only like in the Pokemon games when you can't get certain Pokemon unless you go to events, which I can't. That's pretty much the extent of my cheating.

Cheating, hacking, and "griefing" are at the core part of online gaming and stem from social issues. This means that society is going to have to make a significant change before games do. I feel most of it comes from the "win at any cost" mentality, and that the winner is always the best. At the risk of sounding old I'm going to say that many kids of the current generation doesn't really know how to compete with honor (some do compete w/ honor, and I commend you). Actually I can also say the same about my own generation, and even my parents generation. Many of them have been raised on the "win at any cost" mentality which is why we have so many annoying people in online gaming (even offline gaming for that matter).

Personally I play for fun (most of the time). If I'm dominating (legitimately) I'll most likely handicap myself in someway to make the game more fun for all those involved, and I'll pick a hard fought lose over a blow out win any day.

I never cheat in Mario Kart but when people cheats in it I unleashed my Action Replay and boom I win so I teach them a lesson that cheating is bad and I hope they won't cheat again on anyone who wants to play a fair match.

I've played against hackers on Mario Kart and an auto-aim bot in Metroid Prime Hunters (actually, I was talking to the guy who programmed it when he was working on it). I have hacked online once for mario kart... for the unplayable tracks to be played online. Mind you I only did it with people I knew from a forum who wanted to and were perfectly aware of it. But I still did.

i have only ever cheated in pokemon offline, never online, only for the purpose of getting event pokemon and every starter.

i was a victim of a cheater/hacker on mario kart online, he had the same character and kart as me. and when i crashed i looked up on the map and saw that he had zipped his way across to the other side of the map. he won the race of course, and when the next one came up he blasted away from the starting line so fast i barly saw his kart.

now when i go online, with mario kart, i have action replay all ready to kick cheaters as*es!

I'm still mad that the Konami code only gives weapons (or kills you if you use it more than once per level) instead of 30 lives. I still haven't finished it on Normal yet, for shit sakes.

Pokemon Diamond and Pearl.

Most of the people who play at high levels - if they're not using simulators - freely hack max genes for their Pokemon, when it's literally supposed to be a one in a billion chance. They call the acts of breeding and raising "boring" and regard it as a minor obstacle to their no luck items, no super-legendary, BlissSkarm only, Final Destination fights.

I have to agree that hacking IVs and EVs for the "perfect" team has ruined Pokemon online. Personally, I do not like to cheat, but have started using the Quick Hatch Egg and Super EXP gain cheats to speed up my progress. I do stay away from complete Pokemon hacking like illegal movesets and perfect stats, among other things. I know its not "right", but I do not have the time to sit around for hours trying to get one of my Pokemon up to 50 when there are others who do nothing but cheat to get the best.

Then again, have I become on of those people? :begins to think about it:

I don't play games online for many reasons, cheaters and hackers being one of them.

Metroid for me. I used Spire in the Council Chamber to climb a wall in morph form to a good sniping point that only Spire can get to. Next thing I know, Sylux is up there with me. Now I don't know if it was actually a hack or just an ability that I don't know about but was really annoying.

I don't get how cheating could be fun. They're ruining it for themselves as much as anybody else.

I have a very hard time resisting the urge to snake in Mario Kart but that's really all the "cheating" I do online.

Most of my cheating is done in NESDS where I use the rewind feature to resurrect Mega Man or commit other crimes against nature. 'Tis a disgusting habit but I can't stop.

Definitely Mario Kart DS. More times than I can count people are either in permanent bullet bill form or have an endless supply of lightning bolts. It got to the point where it wasn't worth waiting for the room to fill up only to have to leave and I just gave up on annonymous wifi altogether. I still use it for friends, of course.

Cheating offline is fine, do whatever you like, it's your game. It's the begging and begging for wifi compatability then destroying it by cheating that doesn't make sense to me.

I would love a "clean" online game experiences, even if i have to pay for it. It would be great to have a service like the XBOX Live, lagless srvers, almost no cheats and (o nintendo please listen!!!) an eshop to buy games or play demos =).

Had an episode of Wii-cheating online the other night in MoH Heroes 2. We were playing Capture the Flag at the village. Then this player picked up our flag. Naturally, we all rushed to take him down. I died six times shooting at him. Others around me died even more. We tried grenades, we tried sniping him, we tried all getting in a nice knitting circle with machine guns, and yet he would not die. Obvious haxoring there. Needless to say, pretty soon the majority of us just quit the match. We couldn't score on the enemy without our flag, and we couldn't get our flag back because the guy was invincible. So it pretty much ruined the game.

So if you any of you fellows see Cowlover49 and he just so happens to not have invincibility 'turned on', give him my best.

And by the way, cheating or not, Snaking's still a cheap tactic. ;)

Its a glitch its not hax. Its a stupid bug that happens in random games. Just vote to kick him out.

Mario Kart DS. Now, I have no idea if this was a cheat, or just lag abuse, but...

When I was once racing, I would be catching up on a person. Suddenly, they'll just disappear and reappear behind me, and then in the next moment, they'll disappear and reappear even farther than they were before ahead of me. It's pretty annoying, after a while.

And then there was one time when the guy I was against had what seemed to be infinite Stars. That one was definitely cheating. D| Not to mention he was already in front of me while doing it.

Mario Kart DS is fun, even with the snaking habits that a bunch of people do, but it's those little things that ruin the experience a bit.

I don't know if it counts as cheating because no player was put at a disadvantage, but I periodically would visit a friend's town in Animal Crossing and one time, I went in, and the entire ground was covered in bags of bells, punctuated by the occasional rare item (my favorite was the Pikmin flower box.)

He said I could have whatever I wanted, so I took all the bells I could carry and the Pikmin thing. Later he told me he'd booted into a gamesave that he'd modified to have all that stuff.

It wasn't enough to really speed up most aspects of the game like house upgrades and fossil finding on my end, but I think it ruined the game for him.

Cheating offline....no problem. Sometimes it is good for the instant gratification. I remember making really cool codes for Super Mario Bros. 3, and well, I just did not want to die playing Silent Hill. The environment was scarry enough for me...dying would just make it that much worse for me. But when it comes to online, NO, NO, NO, NO, NO!!! That is just like cheating at cards, or on the golf course, or what have you. You are not cheating hte game, you are cheating people. That is no way to play with others.

I was playing MPH online, and I was getting totally pummeled by this guy playing as noxus. So, running around like a coward, I noticed that he had stopped chasing me. I, naturally took the oppurtunity to attack him, as he had probably put down his DS for a minute. I unloaded 10 or 20 missiles, several charged magmaul shots, and massive amounts of powerbeams- He does not die! He comes back, and brutally murders me!! WTF?!?!?!He obviously was cheating. I was f**king angry!!

I didn't have it happen to me specifically, but I was watching one of my friends play Mario Kart DS online...and one of the people was a hacker. He used ShyGuy, my friend and the hacker ended up being the only two left in the race towards the end, and the 4th track they were on was Block Fort. It's more fun to play locally in a public place anyway...

As for cheating in Pokemon....I don't go online enough with it, and I gave up cheating way back with the glitches in Red and Blue versions.

Since the whole "snaking" issue was brought up... Snaking in itself isn't cheating, nor is it a glitch. It was discovered and left in during testing.

It's an unbalanced game feature, though. Unbalanced to the point where it effectively divides online gamers into "those who can" and "those who can't".

PRB (technique involving snaking constantly after a zipper/shroom/super start to retain the ultra speed and terrain immunity) IS a glitch though, and using it IS cheating.

Anyhow, cheaters online are a pain to be at the end of and I never do it... but if you're one of those people who say they can't understand why they do it, then you need to wake the smeg up. People like winning. People like beating other people. Whether or not you care if you do it by legal means is your own decision.

I'm afraid of what kind of hacks are going to pop up once Brawl comes out. I really hate hackers. I play Gunz, an online PC game and I see so many hackers, ranging from invincibility to lawnmower hacks. It is really pathetic that they have to use hacks to fake real skills.
