Lost Planet to be found on PS3 Feb. 26
Do we continue to write Lost Planet posts no matter how insignificant simply because the headlines practically write themselves? No. Don't be ridiculous: We're professionals. Now, do we post about Lost Planet because our collection of Photoshops based on it continue to make us laugh? ... Yeah, OK. You got us on that one. But hey, don't scroll away just yet, this is Lost Planet info that you might actually find pretty useful. Capcom has announced that the PS3 version of the shooter will be arriving on February 26. In case you've forgotten, this version also ships with a new playable female character, Luka, in tow. We're just happy to hear she got off the second floor.

"We're just happy to hear she got off the second floor."
I cant believe you just wrote that.
My mom named my first dog after that song.

Lost Planet was marginally fun, but after playing through most of it, I don't understand what all the fuss was about.

it was a great game to rent or buy when cheap, was really considering buying it

IT was fun until that flying dragon/insect boss whatever the hell it was killed me in 2.76 seconds about 5,000 times.
That game is hard for the stupid reason that your guy is so so so slow. I love hard games; but give me challenging puzzles, complex level design and tough enemies- not a crippled playable character. Honest to god, he would move faster if he was in a electric wheelchair.

I heard that it was because of the grapple.
Neil @ Jan 21st 2008 11:15AM
Wasn't very good when it came out over a year ago on the 360, so why would anyone want to buy it now for the PS3, for a new playable female character????
KushielsScion007 @ Jan 21st 2008 11:19AM
Supposedly...
See this isn't like Virtua Fighter 5. This game isn't going to have anything special added to it. A new character in no way is comparable to a whole new mode (Online in the case of VF5). So I really could care less that this game is going to the ps3.

Everyone says “Why would a person buy it for the PS3" If a person never got a chance to play it on the 360 why wouldn't they want to buy it for the PS3. I say look at a game like Ninja Gaiden. It was released for the original Xbox in 2004 and then released for the PS3 in 2007. Pretty much the same game but a little prettier. It's an excellent buy for people that have a PS3.
I think anyone who didn't get a chance to play it on the 360 should give a try on the PS3.

@kbomb1upc
The difference is the Xbox Ninja Gaiden was a good game to start with, so upping the graphics when putting on the PS3 was just icing on the cake.
Lost World on the other hand was just an average game, with bad voice acting and bad controls and weak gameplay, so again why would PS3 owners not want to learn from 360 owners mistakes and not just pass on the PS3 version?

The answer is "Everyone has their own opinions." The information I've received from reading post and reviews (Since I haven't play it myself other than a demo) is that Lost Planet has had mix thoughts. Because you didn't like the game doesn't mean someone else won’t.

"why would anyone want to buy it now for the PS3, for a new playable female character????"
Yes:
-PS3
-Female Character
That's enough to make sales.

Sad when the best thing the game has going for it is boxart parodies.
Co @ Jan 21st 2008 12:19PM
No surprise here. Unless a game is made by Microsoft or Sony, it will never have complete exclusivity to one console. 360 and PS3 are interchangable. The same thing, if you will. And game companies like money, so why leave it on one system?
kingofwale @ Jan 21st 2008 1:00PM
since Capcom is pulling a RE4 WII and selling it at 40 bucks, hmm, I will probably pick it up
Leobebes @ Jan 21st 2008 1:51PM
Seriously who cares? The game isn't as bad as some of you are making it out to be and Capcom is a business that needs to stay in business by making money and if they want to release it on the PS3 it's all good. No big deal, no need to argue, let those who want to buy this game live a life of undisturbed peace.

Fanboyish-ness aside, does anyone recommend this game? I didn't have a 360 when it was originally released, so I missed out on it. But, I am a bit intrigued, and I'm wondering if maybe I should buy it. I'd pick it up on the PS3, since it would be the more "complete" version, but if the game isn't so great to start with, what's the point?
Please advise. Note that I'm a Zelda-Resident Evil-Ninja Gaiden-Gears Of War-etc type of fan.
SID SPACE @ Jan 21st 2008 4:25PM
I picked it up for 360 about a month ago. It's OK, I guess. It does some things right like the mechs are cool and some of the bosses are kind of neat. I thought the multiplayer was god awful though. It took close to 10 minutes to actually join a match, and when I finally did, I'd get my ass handed to me because all the guys who actually do play online have much more experience (plus the online community is extremely small, so I'd see the same people all the time).
Oh, and the story is complete garbage. I wouldn't recommend it for more than a rent.
SID SPACE @ Jan 21st 2008 4:28PM
Also, having played all the types of games you listed, I'd definitely wouldn't rank Lost Planet with them. It tries to be a great title, but falls way short of the triple A status of those games.

I liked the game. Great graphics with decent gameplay. I think many people missed the option in the menus to completely customize the aiming system, so if you buy the game do yourself a favor and change those settings to your liking before starting.
Superstar90 @ Jan 21st 2008 9:42PM
I thought it was a good game, it just got overshadowed big time by Gears of War which was the big 3rd person shooter that time.
