Rumor: Frontlines canceled on PS3 (also, PC multiplayer beta is open)
Far be it from us to insinuate that the presence or absence of a game in a retailer's inventory database is proof of anything (short of the internet's collective ability to misinterpret anything) but rumors have arisen surrounding the absence of the already delayed Frontlines: Fuel of War for PS3 from some retailer's listings. Kaos Studios' forums are ground zero, where one staffer didn't help things by refusing to address the status of the PS3 version while assuring readers that "the Xbox 360 version is great!"
Since the rumor broke over the weekend, forum administrator Mitch pleaded with folks to give them some time to address it officially. We're unsure if the developer is also off for Martin Luther King Jr. Day today, which would explain the continued absence of an official response. We've contacted publisher THQ for a comment.
In other news, reader KingOfGods let us know the PC multiplayer beta is now open to all at FilePlanet so it's not all (potentially) bad news, right?

My guess is that this will start happening to strategy games much more these days due to the PS3's single main processor design: Strategy games are the most processor intensive games on the market as far as A.I. go and the PS3 doesn't have the chops. Trun-based stuff will work just fine but the power required for RTSs just isn't there to run todays sims. It's a shamed too because the kind of battle field the CELL could run transformations on would be insane. The game would just perform like a handsome retard.

Meh, the demo, didn't seem innovative at all. But it still provides me with fun, along with plenty of others. You could always try importing games from Japan for a completely different game library. But then you may get sick of the constant supply of anime-styled RPGs.....

you forgot the part where the sony officials claim the delays are just rumors.
then the interview where they say. "we just want to deliver the best game possible." aka. its not ready yet, leave us alone.
i have to admit tho the ps3 has been an awsome sleeping beast. with all the hope for the future. are we ever going to play metal gear. haze. little big planet. killzone 2. grand theft auto. grand turismo. Final Fantasy XIII. resident evil. and silent hill. not to mention HOME. ON TIME?
its a good thing i spent 620 bucks on a ps3 to sit and wait cuz if i didn't i might have missed out on all the let downs and waiting for next quarter. maybe Q2? lets just say i wont hold my breath.

ill give it a rest when they make something more appealing. something that stands out from the other countless first person shooters that have come out. i'm sorry i offended you. i see your one of those fps people that spend countless hours shooting the same thing with the same friends day in and day out. until next month when the next identical fps only this time with aliens and dinosaurs instead of terroist. oh and just a heads up rock band sucks and gh is weak. like ddr before it. the only thing ive seen that was outside the (box) was drakes fortune.

warhawk has been eating up all of my free time. and by that i mean 30 mins before i go to work. drakes fortune has been a suprise. COD4 is cool in my anti fps ways. kayne and lynch dead men is cool too.
the mod cooker for unreal tornament 3 turns 1st into 3rd. the best idea ever.

Hey twit, I play most genres out there - but that, and your reply, is hardly addressing the issue. So good try on the big reversal, but you’re still a crybaby in my eyes.
Joystiq covers many more game genres - and if you were not too busy looking for an article to cry in, you would see have noticed this story was between those that have nothing to do with FPS games at all.

i wont miss this piece of crap. PS3 has 3 amazing First Person Shooters and 2 amazing 3rd Person Shooters. 4 of these are (for now) PS3 exclusive, and all 5 will almost certainly be better than this.
You can have it, 360, I don't want it.
On a side note: both systems have a lot of shooters, and that's OKAY.

While I would agree with most of the "meh" comments here, they aren't exactly good arguments for supporting the PS3.
Historically the most popular (most units sold) console receives the most games, a good portion of which are utter crap. Google "PS2 games" for proof.
Secondly, most likely this game will sell a few copies regardless of how bad it may turn out to be, which is good news for MS (which could be good news for the consumer) and at the very least gives 360 owners more options, which is never a bad thing.
All in all, you can spin it all you want, but this is bad news for PlayStation fans, especially due to the frequency of these delays and cancellations.

THis game blows anyway. The 360 demo was mediocre at best....altho the little remote vehicles were fun to play around with. The PC beta isn't all that good. Quake wars is better.
