CoD4 boots Halo 3 from its Xbox Live throne

No game is "better" than the other, it's your personal opinion of what you like.

I was a big Halo fan, but I like COD4 gameplay/visuals better. Maybe cause I was a teenager when Halo came out lol, but Halo 3 seems like it appeals to a younger audience (although it's not always the case).

Finally, the Halo hysteria is coming to an end. I have a friend who is a diehard Halo fanboy who bought the legendary edition. After playing Call of Duty 4 for a couple of days, he traded his Halo in. Before COD4 he would debate with me forever saying that Halo is the best game of all time. Everybody is finally admitting Halo is overrated and average.

Im going to do somthing intresting because this is based on UUs im going to go into COD and Halo at two times each day once at 12 in the moring and again at 7 or 8 at night (prime gaming time) and i will post a comparsion graph of the numbers i obtained, im in no way a halo fan boy and im just intrested to see what happens if its not UU... Ill keep you guys posted with the data.

both are hella good games.. Both have brought new things to the FPS genre... I'm neutral when it comes to the Halo VS COD 4 BS...

LMAO! GOW held #1 for over a year and halo 3 didn't even last 4 months. with RB6V2 comming out in march, Halo 3 will just keep moving down the bench. Really great game Bungie.

Halo 3 has a fanatastic MP, and the Bungie.net is great. CoD4 was a very good game, but I haven't really played much of the MP, it is good, but I haven't played much.

Vegas 2 will hopefully be a very good experience, and will likely take the top spot for a period, and then lose it to Halo or CoD.

They are all brilliant games, and it doesn't really matter which one has more players. Usually the more players, the more tw*ts.

COD3 online is way better screw you all!

I can't understand why COD4 is getting such good reviews. Single player added nothing to COD2 or 3. It's still way behind Halo 3 in terms of party and matchmaking options, but it is better than any other Xbox Live game I have encountered yet. In my opinion COD4 is to Halo3 what Checkers is to Chess.

Not suprised as a lot for peeps I know and 98% of the peeps on my freinds list all say there where disapointed with Halo 3 and all play COD4 and gears now

Well what I hate most about Halo that you can`t play Campaign and MOST FRIGGIN IMPORTANTLY FoRgE with random people? Where is the point of inventing a cool map if there`s nobody to play it with?!?

These are two different games both in the FPS genre. Both have strong points, both have downfalls. I have played through the campaign on both and the MP on both. I will say the story line behind H3 is very interesting and can be one of the best narratives in a FPS I have come across. While character development in the COD franchise has never been a strong suite, refreshingly the connection this time in COD4 you have playing along side Captain Price is gripping. Story boards aside the MP seems to be the heart of this issue. H3, is more run and gun. Even when supposed to be a tactical map the game play doesn't change you still have to run and gun. COD4 is more tactical, sure you can run and gun if you want but your more of an open target this way. Melee in both is at best a last ditch resort and faulty at best. I can not tell you how many times I have been hammered face on with a guy in H3 when I have full armor and I just dropped his to nothing that I get nailed. Same is true for COD4. I'm right in the guys back knifing him and nothing happens, he turns and is like "ohs nos!" nails me with one fleeing swipe and I'm down.

Both are great games in the style in which they play, Right now it seems COD4 is the preference. Can you remember why H2 made such a huge impact? and what is the one thing you can't do in COD4? Dual weapons, before this the FPS genre had not really had a Dual weapon that not only was functional but fun. That is what made H2 top dog for so long. Gears came with a semi-great cover system and wonderful melee changes (Chainsaws and sticking grenades) The gore level of Gears put it through the roof this was something new sticking a grenade was nothing new to H2 fans but the chainsaw was like the holy grail at the time. COD4 Doesn't have cheevs for MP ya that kind of sucked on their part but at the same time made it more realistic and less kiddos screwing up the gameplay like they do in H3. Sure I can see the argument H3 brought nothing new to the table, neither did COD4 an a grand scale. Sure you got air cover if you killing fools left and right sure thats a neat addin but a bit one sided sometimes. Could you image calling in a scarab on a MP map on H3? I love the MP gameplay of COD4, but H3 still holds a great deal of respect for what it offers, the story line that it contains and continued. COD4 capitalizes on a one hit wonder type of mentality, sure its got staying power but what is the next FPS MP that will dethrone it? Doubt H3 will take it back but this is the inevitable cycle of creativity. I have no one choice over the other, I like them both.

How can you say that Halo 3`s storytelling was great? I found it to be quite shallow if not nonexistent at times..

Halo 3 isn't that good any way. Cod4 has a much better online and the challenges give yet another reason to rank up.

They are both great games, it really only matters what each user likes. I am glad that both are doing great, I like them both. I like a good sci-fi story so Halo3 really was great on that level for me, but I also really like the more realistic back to Earth that COD4 offers. Why do people just have to argue back and forth, I can understand you might each of the game for your own personal reasons, but why get angry because someone has a different view.

i want to clarify that i use my xbox 360 as a htpc, and dont do much gaming...so my opinions are a little different.

i have played h3 and cod4, and i can see why h3 was dethroned. people are tired of the halo kids. i played cod4 for about a month straight before i sold it and i rarely had games where i had to mute someone like i did every day in h3.

i am a pc gamer, and i got to tell you that tf2 is a much better game simply due to its mod community.

Every single friend that use to play Halo 3 and purchased the legendary editions. Who you would think to be huge fanboys. I had them play COD4 for a second. Next thing I know all of these friends are sending me messages to play COD4 with them. It converts fanboys with just one play. Thats a powerful game.

Also COD4 is more tactical and thought provoking. There is no safe spot and you always have a chance to be killed. Unlike Halo3. Also your actions aren't dictated by running in and gunning. The more you stand back and use the maps and terrain and weapons you have the better you do.

Lastly, less little kids who cant play thinking they can do well talking on the mic saying things that they think makes them cool but only makes the rest of us on their team want to blow them away.

Honestly, in my personal opinion, the reason why ppl like CoD4 better is because its easier. Dont get me wrong, CoD4 is a great game. Im a big Halo fan since Halo CE day 1 and I, for the first time, have played a game more than Halo...mainly because most of my friends dont like Halo 3. I just think Halo 3 is harder to be good at so with CoD4 much like Halo 3 but alot easier, ppl are going play it more. The only think Im surprised at is that Halo lasted this long. But hey, thats just me i guess.

Well yea for now, Halo 3 will out live COD 4 for many years, the reason is that Bungie keeps pumping out new map packs,forge, and saved films. I really never got tired of Halo 3 its just that I broke my disc and i got other games to attend to. So far I have played a lot of COD 4 since I got it for Christmas, but im getting tired of it already there is really no reason to keep playing. There is really no weapon variety, and the campaign mode is repeditave and i cannot see myself playing throught it again. I have tried to replay the game but I just couldn't, sure i can pick out about 2 levels in the game to play, but thats it. When in Halo you can find skulls there is a large variety of enemies, you can do 4 player online co-op, and you go back and screw around on saved films for a while. Yea COD4 is a better multiplayer game, but Halo 3 will out live it, and Halo 3's campaign kicks the absolute shit out of COD 4's in replay value and overall.

Halo sucks its freakin childish.COD4 and Rainbow Six Vegas 2,Tom Clancy's End War and GTA 4 are most likely gonna be the top 4 games on Xbox Live.

One of the most annoying parts of COD4 is that the Halo 3 kiddies have jumped onto it. And yes, this is a huge deterrent for me. I don't want to play with these people because they tend to be rude and abrasive when I just want to have fun. I don't want people screaming in my ear or bitching at me about how much I "suck" or how much they "pwned" me.
One of the huge reasons I had trouble enjoying Halo3 multiplayer was because of this, and it's kind of ruining COD4 multiplayer for me too unfortunately. This is just statistical data that literally people from Halo3 are coming to COD4 and it's not that great.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, CoD fanboys have surpassed Halo fanboys as being the most stuck up and annoying, and for that you get a very small trophy.

I will agree on that Halo takes more skill than CoD, you can easily get kills in CoD because all you have to do is point and shoot and one lucky shot will hit the guy in the head and kill him. If you don't agree with that, than your just plain stupid and haven't actually played both games.

As simple as it gets:

COD4= better multiplayer gameplay

Halo3= better features (replay's, forge, etc.)

COD4= tactical (not always, but in most cases)

Halo3= Run and gun/melee

I loved halo 3 when it came out, but as soon as i got COD4 i haven't put it down....Halo got old and frustrating for me becuase of the flawed melee system, it was like blind dates, you can get luckey most of the time, but sometimes you end up knocked out by some big guy in a mask.....
( not the best analogy )

melee-ing seemed to be the only way to win a battle in halo, and the system was sporadic at best....

and to crazed arab man, dude, COD4 takes more skill....it's not all about running towards someone while shooting, then hoping to win the melee battle...

Well I'll say this, the only reason ppl on my friends list still play H3 is because they havent gotten CoD4

I can guarantee you that if you put someone who hasn't played either game and tell them to play a couple matches of each game, they will easily get more kills CoD 4 than in Halo. This isn't a rant, its the facts.

Halo 3 couldn't hold it because bottom line it just isn't that good. In my opinion its an FPS for Noobs. Sniping is about as skillful as hitting an elephant with a high powered assault rifle a 100 yards out, and everything else in the game is just blah. The only saving grace that Halo 3 has is the fact that you can save replays and mail them to buddies. Outside of that its an average shooter and nothing more.
And to the guy that included halo in his little list of innovative fps games, your fucking stupid man.

Just my 2 pence worth: Haven't played H3 in months, COD4 gets hammered every night. (There are 3 of us who always play, so that helps matters. But then again, we all have H3 too!)

Halo3 just stopped being fun for me online. I can't put my finger on it but I'd end up getting so
frustrated that it would just kill the enjoyment for me.

The ONLY thing I miss from H3 is the Theatre and Bungie.com's stats. EVERY multiplayer game needs them.

Had some brilliant moments in COD where it's been like "Fuck! You should have seen what just happened then!"
