Devil May Cry 4 demo hits PSN, Xbox Live this Thursday
If you're not too busy playing Satan's Sudoku, you may want to lend some of your time to Beelzebub's bawling buddy, Devil May Cry 4. Though rumor had it arriving a tad later, the folks at Capcom have confirmed that a demo of the extravagant actioner is due to arrive on Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Network this Thursday, January 24th.
Demo May Cry will acquaint players with newcomer Nero, the franchise's third silver-haired, sword-wielding weirdo with a penchant for killing demons in spectacular fashion (that coat is snazzy!). Players will battle through several different locales and a boss encounter before being reminded of the full game's release on February 5th.

Can't wait...
jynxycat @ Jan 22nd 2008 10:05PM
Not excited, personally.
Its DMC4.
I know what I'm getting when I buy it.
Anyone who downloads this expecting some radical new game, should check their expectations at the door :P
ScottyGEE32 @ Jan 22nd 2008 10:07PM
The last one I played was the first one...We then sold a ps2...So I've missed out on all the others (since we have xbox xbo360)
And plus, xbox needs more games like this...That's why this and ninja gaiden are so high up on my list =D
Zsavior @ Jan 23rd 2008 1:58AM
I like How Xbox fans love saying the system is for everybody and not just FPS and then when a game that is not an FPS comes out that is highly anticipated they say
"Nothing new here move along not excited." So much hypocrisy by xbox fans it is not even funny, they want the system to be popular and be great but for only the type of games they like. Xbox360 needs games like these and others if it hopes to reach a broader market, you want people to be excited you want people to be pumped, and you want them to have high expectations. Others wise Xbox360 caters to one market and isn't going to be very interesting for anything else.
ScottyGEE32 @ Jan 23rd 2008 2:16AM
I'm hoping that wasn't directed at me o_O
I want more fighting/hack and slash games instead of another FPS...
Huh? Why am I being a hypocrite? ;_;
Zsavior @ Jan 23rd 2008 2:31AM
No scottygee32 not you I was reacting towards jynxycat comments that people shouldn't have high expectations towards this game.
Ryan @ Jan 23rd 2008 3:57PM
Zsavior...seriously man, what the hell are you talking about?
ONE GUY says that he's not excited about ONE GAME that happens to be the 4th game in a series and you someone extrapolate that out to "Xbox 360 owners don't care about anything but FPS games even though they say they do"?
Yeah, that'll make a whole lot of sense when DMC4 360 inevitably outsells the PS3 version by large margins a la Assassin's Creed, et all.
Seriously, your post may be the worst argument I've ever seen made in a comment to a joystiq blog, and that is saying something.
Zsavior @ Jan 23rd 2008 4:48PM
I was going to ignore your comment Ryan then I noticed something and then said I just can't
"Not excited, personally.
Its DMC4.
I know what I'm getting when I buy it.
Anyone who downloads this expecting some radical new game, should check their expectations at the door :P"
That is what jynxycat said. So you must not comprehend to well so I will explain it to you.
He starts out saying how he doesn't like DMC and goes on to say ANYBODY WHO HAS HIGH EXPECTATIONS OF IT SHOULDN'T
So he begins speaking about his own experience then goes on to tell others what to think. Halo3 was the same as Halo2 but Xbox fans seem to think it should be praised none the less. Your comments are idiotic because it seems like you only ready half of anything like a certain somebody else then just answer.
Second After reading your other little comments about "Playing PC games for 7 years" WHO The hell cares. Why is it you people think your own enjoyment is worth more than others?
Since DMc4 isn't a certain type of game or a sequel that isn't HALO or GEARS or BIo shock move along, amirite? Xbox360 has an online set up you like well it must be just better because YOU LIKE it. MS gets a bad rap not cause they are doing a better job but because of people like you RYAN, self centered malcontented gamers who only care about games they like and ignore anything else. Then when called on it, act like they are defending something righteous, and give self centered comments such as yours. Hypocrites who hype on sequel but spit on another, and insult peoples taste.
Something that is great to one person "S-U-C-K-S" in your world because that is just how gamers like you are. Jynxycat's comment was a insult to people who want that kind of gaming on the xbox 360 same as your comments are nothing more than drivel on how great live is because you feel it is.
You have nothing to back up what makes live better other than your own feelings which you trump over on other people. What makes Halo3 any better than DMC4 it was another iteration of a game that had already been done. So why should DMC fans or new people not be excited? OH I get it cause you aren't; you guys are the sole reason MS can't get beyond their stereotype, and it is damn sad.
I am beginning to like PS3 fanboys more and more everyday and I don't even own a PS3. For all the arrogance they know the system needs to do more, but xbox fans are becoming quickly the worst things on the face of the planet. Your comment to me meant nothing you had no point to contradict mine other that DMC4 on Xbox360 will out sell PS3s version WHO THE HELL BrOUGHT UP PS3 in that statement. But that is how your mind works, you have to show you are beating something to seem on top.
SO let me explain to you again Xbot, xbots like you self shouldn't try discounting DMC4 because it is not your type of game. You should want people to anticipate it and get excited, so that your system which you are such a rabid fanboy for will do better.
P.S. 7 years of PC gaming is nothing to brag about. You sound like a newbie I known people, who been gaming on their PC before Ultima Online, oooooh 7 years. So in other words you came in at the good times and made a broad judgment because of your vast 7 years of knowledge.

Huey2k2 @ Jan 22nd 2008 10:37PM
So go buy a PS3 and get the demo over the PSN.
Or stop being a cheap ass and spend the ~$5 a month it costs for live. I'm tired of all these people that just expect to get things for free these days. I remember a time when the only way to get console demos was to go out and BUY a gaming magazine that just happened to have a demo of a game you wanted to play on it.
Funny how back then it wasn't an issue, but it suddenly is now.
Noshino @ Jan 22nd 2008 11:08PM
"I'm tired of all these people that just expect to get things for free these days."
I expect online gaming to be free, why do I have to pay for my internet service AND for XBL? I'm tired of all the people that are willing to pay for services that can be found (and should be) for free.
"I remember a time when the only way to get console demos was to go out and BUY a gaming magazine that just happened to have a demo of a game you wanted to play on it."
Yes, that was back when online gaming wasn't a priority, now almost everything can be done online, why not demos?
I remember when the only way for multiplayer was 4 player splitscreen and/or LAN....
Huey2k2 @ Jan 22nd 2008 11:12PM
You're tired of people that are willing to pay a slight premium for a superior service instead of getting the bare minimum for free?
It's called capitalism, I am more than happy to pay $5 a month for Xbox Live because I know how good the service is and how streamlined it is. Nobody is forcing you to pay money to play video games online, if you want to play for free get a PS3, or build yourself a gaming rig.
But neither of those two options compare to the integration and ease of use that Xbox Live offers. But hey, you get what you pay for.
KushielsScion007 @ Jan 22nd 2008 11:55PM
I agree with The Canadian.
Its fucking capitalism. If you don't like it move to Russia.
Or you could just exercise your free will and shut the f*ck up about Live cuz the bottom line is that its not that expensive in the grand scheme of things and its worth every single penny spent.
commen-cents @ Jan 23rd 2008 1:56AM
@huey
im pretty sure that the ps3 demo once downloaded will be no less of a demo than the 360 one so this whole "you get what you pay for thing just shows that you do get what YOU pay for... but its not the demo so your point is irrelevant. i dont play online that much, so im a silver member, i also have a ps3 so if i ever get the urge to play online i can do it on that system... no why would i pay $50 a year? for demos a week early? i dont think so. ill get my online kick from sony for free, its not inferior to me because it gives me everything i do for free. lets be generous and say that the 360's life cycle is 6 years... thats an extra 50 bucks a year... ill keep it and in 6 years ill be 300 dollars richer and have a nice down payment on the next sega.
ThornedVenom @ Jan 23rd 2008 2:33AM
Getting artificially screwed over (instantly available demo for Gold, 1 week delay for Silver) is not a matter of capitalism.
Capitalism is about competition on the market, lowering prices and impulsing innovation. It's about rewarding the best offer: if the offer is free, it's still a valid form of competition since income comes from elsewhere. Paying for a premium service doesn't support nor create a distinction in favor for capitalism compared to a free model.
Anyways, you talked about a "bare minimum" for an online gaming service: what I consider a bare minimum is online play.
But I'm not directly concerned because I simply don't buy a 360 due to my philosophical disagreements with their game marketing. Yet I'm concerned because it affects business models relating to whatever I can buy.
Huey2k2 @ Jan 23rd 2008 12:14PM
Of course the bare minimum is just online play, but you say that as though Xbox Live is *just* online play and nothing else.
Xbox Live is about the ease of use and integration of it all, the unified friends list, the ability to voice or text message those friends at any time from any situation. The fact that you are guaranteed that every game for the 360 supports live in some way shape or form, I could go on but I think I have gotten my point accross.
Sure the PSN allows you to play online, but as I said, it's the bare minimum, and I prefer paying the $5 a month to get the superior online experience of Live.
Ryan @ Jan 23rd 2008 3:53PM
Common-cents:
Your point is pretty much completely moot because it only applies to your own personal experiences. I'm sure everyone is very happy to know that you get everything you need out of the bare essentials because you don't game online much. That's why Microsoft has the option of the free Silver accounts. However, for many of us, choosing between the bare essentials for free and all the stuff we REALLY need for a nearly negligible fee (if you pay any attention at all you can pick up live cards for $25 for 13 months, which comes out to $1.92 per month) is one of the easiest choices we've ever made.
Again, it's great that you don't play with other people online so you don't need the integrated friends lists and whatnot. Personally I game with the same group of guys and it's nice to know that I can start up Mass Effect and go out at without worrying that I'm going to miss out on a bunch of buddies starting up a Gears room because if they start it, they'll just drop me an invite and with 2 measely clicks of a button I can be in there having a blast. The alternative with anything else is to call or IM these people that I don't know in real life, set up a time to meet them, and then sit there at the menu for however long it takes waiting for everyone to join. As an avid PC gamer for 7 years let me tell you, that S-U-C-K-S compared to Live. Not having to deal with that crap anymore is worth 20 times what I end up paying for Xbox Live to me. And that's not even mentioning that Live is now one of my primary sources of communcation with old college buddies that have moved away.

@ryan
and what about your post is not your personal experience?
go look in the mirror is hypocrite written across your forehead?
each of our experiences apply to others as well so dont act like your special becuase you perfer to pay for something that some people would get no use out of, i game with my friends a once or twice a month when we have time to get together in the real world... the simple fact is the delayed demo thing is stupid... if there are people that are going to choose between a 360 and a ps3 and they arent going to play online but still want demos... ps3>360

yeah really do u go around sayin "ya"(yah) too? I sat "yeah", as in HELL YEAH!!!!SERIOUSLY
Bennyishere @ Jan 22nd 2008 9:33PM
"meh" expresses one's lack of care. He apparently doesn't think a demo for a popular game is something he should care about, but albinogoldfish still found it necessary to comment.
Jtenma @ Jan 22nd 2008 9:38PM
My thing is, how would you go about saying that (pronunciation)?
albinogoldfish @ Jan 22nd 2008 9:44PM
An expression of opinion on an open forum discussion? on the internet? unheard of....
colin @ Jan 22nd 2008 11:02PM
pronounciation of "meh"
the "me" sound as in the word "meddle" but you hold the empty "-eh" sound a bit. pitch changes may be used to communicate degrees of apathy.

jorojoserojas @ Jan 23rd 2008 1:25AM
I think I'm going with the PS3 version, due to the motion controls (I'm in the minority in that I actually LIKE motion controls), and that whole special installation thing. Well, maybe not "special", but the one-time install to eliminate load times.
Meh, I know it's not much, but it's enough to sway me into buying it for PS3. This will be my first PS3 game since I got it in November!
(that would have been Burnout, but the store didn't receive any PS3 copies, so I picked up the 360 version)
baby sea tuna @ Jan 23rd 2008 8:20AM
Yeah, I'll probably end up picking this up for PS3 instead of Xbox too...mainly because I only have like one other PS3 game.

DMC3 had a port? I know it was out for PS2 (obviously) but what other console?
Erik @ Jan 23rd 2008 11:17AM
They did, on the PC like he said. But, most stores I went to didn't even have it. Probably easier to find online and "borrow" it then to go to a store and buy it.
waynski1457 @ Jan 23rd 2008 12:17AM

"Xbox360 needs games like these and others if it hopes to reach a broader market, you want people to be excited you want people to be pumped, and you want them to have high expectations."
360 already had a million button mashing hack and slash games on the system already. We're drowning in the damned things. 360 owners have the widest selection of genres to choose from right now regardless if people want to call it a shooterbox360 or whatever.
I just want another damn CRACKDOWN. Sigh.
