For anyone who's thinking of getting this simply because they're fans of the series, you might want to curb your enthusiasm. The Silent Hill team responsible for the original 4 games has been disbanded. This game was made by a developer called "Climax Group", and the upcoming Silent Hill 5 is being developed by "The Collective". Why Konami would take a successful and critically acclaimed series and drive it into the ground is beyond me, but that seems to be their new strategy. Check out the zero punctuation review for a more thorough account of how badly this game sucks.

Fixed that for you. I was a huge fan of the first two Silent Hill games, but they've been in a creative slide ever since.

PS2 = awesome system.

People are still buying games for it because there are still some quality games coming out for it, and there are still games being developed because it's a fairly cheap console to develop for, relatively speaking.

Done with great effect here, however. Find a better--well, worse, article to spout your critique.

That will great for people who bought the $399 PS3 that isn't backwards compatible. Awesome!

Yeah, but with the extra $200 they can play this on the PSP... so really... who cares?

I really hope they clean this up... a lot... the PSP has great quality, but when you take something designed for a 4in screen, and put it on a 40in screen, it ups the crap factor by a whole damn lot...

but i'm sure they planned this from the start...

And factor in the fact that most PSP games are designed to be significantly shorter than their console counterparts, and you get a game that should sell for $20, $25 max. Anymore than that and it's going to tank on store shelves.

@tuna

You don't think it'll tank now? Really?

:P

I think people who have played SH will probably eat it up, but people who havn't will probably just get SH.... since you know... it's on the PS2...

I don't really care, I mean, the original Silent Hill still looks very atmospheric, anything better looking than that is good enough for me. As long as they've kept the same art direction.

The PS2 is like Gamestop. You can take any old game there to get some cash off it (except in the PS2's case, I'm assuming it's more then $.50).

A horror game on a console for £15

Jesus H Christ which is the best bet.

I'm actually very excited to hear this! I've enjoyed every Silent Hill game in the series (never played the first), and lack a PSP so this is good news.

When will it be out??

Never played the first? You're missing out on the best one in the series.

Bloody Hell.

It seems like they're porting everything now.
Completely undermines the point of buying games for the PSP.

NO MORE PORTS PLEASE.

They do it because they can. With the DS, it's not that easy (one might say impossible in some cases) and that's exactly why the DS is a better handheld than the PSP.

What I want to know is what black people think about this game if their history in Silent Hill is finally being revealed.

(See what I did there?)

This is wonderful news, to those who think that the PSP is just a demo machine for the PS2. I just have to wonder when GoW for the PSP will come to the PS2?
