No More Heroes rocks! This is the best game in a while in my opinion. This game is in a class all to itself.

I just got both today (darn shipping is always a day late for stores)...

Haven't played Endless Ocean yet, but I've played a lot of No More Heroes.
The review? :
Reminds me of a crapped-down GTA, with the absurd violence and humor of GodHand, and a hint of cyber-punk that can only give you an odd memory of... FLCL??? O_o

All-in-all, the game's awesome.
Sure, the city is kinda' crappy, and it sucks that I can't run into any cars... but the whole idea of finding hidden items across the city fits well into the game. Though Godhand beats No More Heroes in humor and fun-violence, No More Heroes has one advantage: It feels great on the Wii, and Godhand just felt like it was missing something on the PS2 (please bring it to the Wii!!! PLEASE). And the cyber-punk-ness will take me a while of getting used to, but it certainly is interesting!

As for endless ocean: I look forward to playing it. Though most people are against the game for its lack of challenge or goal (really), I love games where you just enjoy the beauty of things... and just sit back.
It's kinda' like a favorite ringtone- you know you should probably just get it over with (and answer it), but you just love that song.

NMH >

Yea it is, pretty much I beat the game in about 15 hours on Mild, granted I didnt collect everything, but as far as direct upgradables I got 100% of them, and golds I got about 60% of them. (Missing most of the free missions.)

I got the final power up for the katana light sabre on Bitter mode.

Ok the game is hell of crazy on the combat, Its hell of easy to pick up and hard to master - while I'm playing I'm realizing there is more to the combat engine than I believed, Just Counter, Combod charge attacks, Evac roll timed on cling is a bullet time evade and quite a bit more.

The bosses are more serious than God Hand, with one of the bosses being just too funny (the way he dies) - The story wraps itself up nicely by dishing out a tun of mind f*** then making sense of it self. Of course the real ending is hell of fun also, that last end was intense.

9/10 no 10/10 only because of the world map and certain collision detection on it.

NMH isnt really my thing

I'm not casual gamer, but everytime I see clips from Forever Blue I end up feeling serene and at peace the world and nature. For a few hours at least, and then I need another fix. If I get either of these, it's Endless Ocean. I'm not sure I can justify the price for a glorified screensaver though.

Screw both of those titles, I'm getting One Piece Unlimited Adventure. I'll probably then get No More Heroes once I finish with One Piece.

NMH is for hardcore gamers? A few years ago, this would have been considered one of THE games for casual players.
What should people that spend most of their time with games like Puyo Puyo Fever, Virtua Fighter 5, Team Fortress or Battle Garegga be called then?

Well, on topic:
I'd get NMH.
We got Endless Ocean a few months ago here in Europe and it's very impressive from a technical standpoint, but I can't get myself to play it more than once a month. But I don't exactly know why. Every Ecco game managed to capture my heart after all.

Perhaps its because Ecco has gameplay elements such as plot ,action, a horrendously harsh learning curve (

I am VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!

I went to three different stores today (Target and 2 Best Buys) and they told me that the game doesnt release till tomorrow!!

I tried arguing with them, of course though I didnt get very far.

They are correct. The game's ship date is today. The game's shelf date (when you can buy it in stores) is tomorrow. You'd be hard pressed to find a store that will sell it to you today.

That's always confused me with American launch dates, stores list dates on their websites of say 1.1.2008, but it isn't actually out until 2.1.2008. In the UK what date is listed IS the street date, no ifs or buts unless otherwise specifically stated.
Though, if you're used to it, I suppose it's not really a problem.

You're joking right?

It's going to be NMH for me this week and hopefully for the next few weeks too. The reviews look good but they don't say how big the game is.
Endless Ocean looks like something I'll pick up for my wife when it hits the bargain bin. She's currently holding onto her ducats for Bully next month which she's looking forward to more than even me.

I was wondering that too, and came to this conclusion:

1 day to get accustomed to the game. (i play for +/- one hour a day), you figure he's ranked 11 in the UAA, the goal is to get to one, so there's 10 increments to the game right there. Figure it takes 1 hour to accumulate the cash needed for the battle, and one hour to complete the battle and related challenges.

That's 21 days right there, 3 weeks of play

Unless the game is either a lot easier or a lot harder than i presume, that seems about right

That sounds about right MrK.

But I'm hoping that there's enough treasure hunting, minigames, and side-quests to stretch out the active playtime. Even the dumpster diving sounds fun.

My prediction:

NMH will be a huge disappointment, with no replay value and a vapid, repetitive gameplay mechanic.

EO will be an underdog gem that will be a wholly new experience for most gamers.

I preordered EO. I am not impressed with NMH. It looks like a crappier version of GTA, minus depth.

So was Killer7 just Halo with cartoon graphics to you? How about you actually play GTA and come back and say that NMH looks anything like GTA.

The country I live in now has crap availability for games. And when you can find them, they're at least double in price.

If I could, I would get both, and the new Advance Wars. In the staggered fashion that my poor man purse dictates of course: No More Heroes, Endless Ocean, Advance Wars.

My landlady is in Miami for the weekend and coming back today sometime. I sent her a list of titles to check out for me and charged her with bringing back one. I don't think No More Heroes will make it into her bags, but hopefully Zack and Wiki will.

Endless Ocean has been sitting in my Amazon wish list since they first listed it for preorder. Unfortunately, I just spent a bunch of money at the veterinarian (to spay/neuter and vaccinate two kittens), so the game has to wait, but I'll get it soon enough.

@dfranczyk: Remember, if you live in the US, it was Marthin Luther King Day yesterday, which means there weren't any shipments going out. No shipments means a day delay in anyone getting the game.

I must admit despite the fact the games couldn't be more different from each other, I'm having a really tough choice deciding between NMH & EO, both look like great games in their own right, both I could love or find a bit repetitive & boring.

It's times like this I really wish the Wii had downloadable demos as that's the best way to find out if a game clicks with you or not, I can't judge that from the various mixed opinions on either game until I try them out for myself.

I'm going for Endless Ocean personally. I don't really have time to complete a new game right now (damned real life) but I find the Ocean pretty darned cool. Blue planet really peaked my interest in what it was that lived in that big blue wet thing that people apparently call the ocean. (10 points if you get that reference!)

Anywho, I think my hardcore gamerness is fading...
I must say since the Wii was released I have been surprisingly fulfilled with the "casual games".

This is what I don't really get. I've enjoyed playing the Halo games just as much as Wii Sports or WarioWare, so what does that make me?

Games are about having fun, and the whole Hardcore vs Casual issue is utterly ridiculous. If a game looks enjoyable, play it! Claiming that you're either casual or hardcore is just a way of trapping yourself into only playing one type of videogame. I say play what is fun, regardless of genre.

That said, I don't think I'll buy either of these games, EO looks hella-boring (I picture it as Pokemon Snap without the fun) and I hated Killer 7 with a passion, and NMH looks even worse. I may rent them both, however.

I'm getting No More Heroes. As EGM said Endless Ocean is a non-game. Being that i'm a core gamer i'll support NMH because its just one more developer that still cares about the core gamers. Instead of dumbing things down for casuals.

I also went to three different stores (in Manchester, CT) and was told to wait until tomorrow - there used to be a time when the date that was listed was its actual street date . . . hmm. Anyway, so I got back home and checked out toyrus.com just to see if it was available there and I found a terrible surprise - NMH ships on 02/07/2008! (That has got to be a typo):

I already played/completed EO and as a half casual gamer i can say it get really dull really quickly....not recommended....just imagine Echo for idiots + Pokemon snap for idiots = something that could have been good and kinda is for the first bit and at some points throughout but overall disappointing...Perverts rate: 6.7/10.
NMH is the game i know I'll enjoy(if i get the US version) simply for the over the top quirky/violent fun i know it will be.
Oh so yeah I'm getting NMH.
