Splinter Cell Conviction still an Xbox exclusive
67
Despite a recent GAME typo that listed Splinter Cell Conviction for PlayStation 3, Ubisoft has already cashed Microsoft's blank check, er, reaffirmed its "deal" with Microsoft to keep the console version of the sneaky sequel bound exclusively to Xbox 360 – and besides, PS3 can't render Sam's new beard, right? "This is just a mistake by the retailer. The game is not coming out on PS3," an Ubisoft spokesperson told VideoGamer. The representative also dismissed GAME's suggested April 1 release date, stating, "We're sticking to the original announcement." Last we heard (and confirmed again today), the next Splinter Cell is scheduled for the company's coming fiscal year (April 2008–March 2009).

With a name like Splinter Cell: Conviction, I hope that the theme song is Boston's "More than a feeling".

What gives with the people hating on Splinter Cell here? The first three games were great - Chaos Theory was definitely the pinnacle of the series. I didn't like Double Agent as much, but it wasn't handled by Ubisoft Montreal. Conviction will be.
As long as a series continues to be fun and tell an interesting story, I can deal with the terminal case of sequel-itis.

I think Double-Agent was still a great game. And don;t forget, the Xbox/PS2 version ws by Montreal, and was great like the others.

The thing that got me annoyed about Double Agent was the fact they didn't include the co-op element in the 360 version....I loved co-op in Chaos Theory

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory's Spy vs. Merc was the best Xbox Live game ever. There was never anything like it before or since. Multiplayer perfection. Then they completely dropped the ball with Double Agent. Hopefully, they can bring it back to it's roots for this new title.

damn, another one of my most disliked franchises skips over my console of choice. no use crying over spilled milk.
well, we still get to play MGS4, as well as this rumored demo coming out...next month I believe?
(didn't this game go the way of Assassin's Creed?)

I'll be too busy playing Metal Gear solid to even care about this game.

When and if it ever comes out. At this rate I believe you wont see MGS4 until christmas this year or maybe next year.
But PS3 fans are used to waiting by now right?

Actually yes Cyro, whats wrong with waiting? You impatient or something? Nothing to pass the time? No girlfriend or something, chill dude, nobody likes delays, but if the games are worth it when they release, thats all that matters, or are you one of those nerds who must have THAT game right NOW!

Splinter Cell is okay, just never saw much of the humour factor in it, if you fail a mission, thats it, start again from last checkpoint, no second chance or anything, run away and hide sort of thing :( This is the only reason why I have always preferred MGS.
Speaking of which, theres a stricking resemblence to young Snake in that pic, lol

Nice to see that Sam is still getting progressively younger.

They lost me at Double Agent. While I appreciate the Jack Bauer-esque espionage trickery, I loved Chaos Theory because you had clear-cut goals, and the real creativity came from how you achieved those objectives, not by whose side you were on at the time. I respected the attempt at trying to explore morality through complex choices, but the moral (or rather, ethical) highlight of the Splinter Cell series (for me) was always Fisher's inner turmoil at doing some of the things he had to do, carrying out his orders vs. doing what he felt was the right thing to do. For me, Conviction doesn't seem to be moving in the right direction to bring me back to the fold, but hey...to each his own.
