Turning Point: Fall of Liberty demo goes Live

I like some fo the gameplay ideas, but firefights are dull in comparison to other games and why do the Nazis take so many bullets to die?

This is quite possibly the worst demo I have ever had the misfortune to play. The graphics suck, the gameplay sucks and the control system beggars belief. Also, I can't work out how they made this demo 1.2gb seeing as it is basically a glorified N64 game.

Well I would rather have FPS's than just a shitload of partygames and minigames like some other console.

you do realize there is a higher percentage of PS3 games that are FPS and or TPS right...just saying...probably also on PC since they're always coming out with some new 20-30 dollar POS FPS..

Is it out for the UK yet coz I don't see it? But Live is being a dick again anyway so meh.

Well, the demo did indeed suck gameplay wise.

It's too bad the gameplay is so bad (seriously, who the hell thought this was ok?) because the setting, triggered events, etc are freaking awesome.

Terrible gameplay and graphics ruin what could've been completely epic.

So disappointing. I knew in my heart for a while that this game wouldn't be any good, let alone able to stand up to the excellence of top tier FPS like Orange Box, Halo, CoD or Resistance.

Still, there was just a small hope in the back of my mind that the game would pull through and deliver on its interesting premise.

The controls are just too sluggish to look past. Unless the PC version has greatly improved movement, I'm just going to have to mark this off as an also ran.

Having played FPS games since DOOM and Wolfenstien back in the day this game really suprised me.

It's a nice idea for a game, and someone really should do it properly one day...

This attempt is a real timewarp and plays a bit like Duke Nukem from the early 90's except it's not as much fun. The controls are limited and weak, the enemies look almost 8bit (really only a slight exageration) and the fact that I can see an enemy for what seems like an eternity before I'm in any danger is just lame.

As people are saying, with Orange Box, COD4, Assassins Creed, etc... the bar has been raised but this is probably the lamest thing I've seen on the XBOX360, F.E.A.R. not withstanding... A true failure in every department.

I've just finished reading an interview with the producer and I'm sad to say that these guys just suck... they planned release in Nov last year and pushed to Q1 '08 ... they should either take a long hard look at what they've squeezed out here and rethink the release schedule again ... or face 3/10 style reviews... because as it is... this is going to bomb worse than anything else on the system.

so in short... it sucks super hard.

Our Response to Player Feedback on the Turning Point Xbox 360 Demo

We just wanted to take a moment to personally thank everyone who took the time to download the Turning Point: Fall of Liberty demo and to comment on our work in progress. All of your feedback is very valuable to us and we are working hard to meet your expectations with the final version of the game.

Since the demo was finalized, the team has put several months of work into the code and we thought you might like to know that a number of questions raised by those trying the demo will be positively addressed in the final game.

For example:

Optimized targeting and movement: Optional control settings have been refined to alleviate sluggishness in the slowest setting and the 'on ice' feeling at the faster settings. Also, a user-defined soft lock has been added which means that controls can be set so once an enemy is hit with a bullet the crosshair will ‘stick’ to the target.

Refined AI behavior: The dynamic intelligence and pathfinding for enemies has also been enhanced. The 'hot point' based system should add to Turning Point’s replay experience.

Ammo levels and grappling optimized: Up until final submissions, the team has been listening to playtest feedback and doing everything possible to create a ‘civilian at war’ feeling. The end result is an experience more visceral than the demo, relying less on repeated ammo refills, and more on the grappling and the hand-to-hand combat.

Final Mip-mapping and texture levels: The art team has also been able to further optimize lighting, textures, and effects throughout the title.

Already played this on OXM 81, and it is a very very bad game. I'm going to tell people now, don't even waste your time.

Suprisingly, I'm currently using a PC. Where's my PC demo of this game? I probably won't buy it, but I'd at least like to be able to rightfully make fun of this game, rite?

Major kudos to Justin on the title Woodstock: Reich and Roll. I just got a case of the lulz when thinking of Nazis taking a flamethrower to a crowd of hippies. :)
