What? A giant video game publisher is looking to continue developing their highly successful series at the same time a major Hollywood producer is working on a film based on the same property? It's almost too much to believe but buried amidst their latest financial release – which also bore news of a further Haze delay – Ubisoft made a small mention of a new Prince of Persia game being released in their 2008-2009 fiscal year, which begins in April.
Other releases mentioned in the same terse bulleted list include the aforementioned Haze, EndWar, a Shaun White snowboarding game, and the recently announced Tom Clancy's Air Combat game, as well as new releases from popular franchises like Splinter Cell (Conviction), Brothers in Arms (Earned in Blood and Hell's Highway), Far Cry (uh, 2), Anno, and Prince of Persia. No more info, like which studio is developing the game, which quarter they expect it to be released, or whether or not it's part of a rumored prequel trilogy, but we'll put a question into the good folks at Ubisoft.

I didn't play the 3rd (since I hated the second so much) so I'm not sure how it ended. But I seem to remember Ubi saying that the 3rd was the last one in the series. Does that mean there will be a new prince?

I want a return of the remorseful prince of the original. I really hated the generic rage infested prince of the second. Still haven't cracked open my copy of the third.

Haha "I smolder with generic rage." Best Penny Arcade line ever.
And I completely agree.

I disagree. Mainly because he went from a mature character who shouldn't remorse and fear for what he has done to the kind of character that watches a couple Stone Cold Steve Austin DVDs to get ready for a quest.
Which is sad, because the very first demo of PoP2 had the same Prince and rather than being all Kratos about everything, he was fearing for his life as he was hunted. When the final game released, we lost that character in exchange for a whiny female who interrupts his catfight to pose and say "you... bitch" before going back to battle.
They HAD a unique character that changed from sorrowful and remorseful to fearful and yet still remorseful (demo), then to "GAR! I R tough guy No1 badass!"
Personalities like that should be left to Image comics.

If you go ahead and crack open the third, you'll find the Prince you've been looking for is back again. PoP3 was superb.

I still disagree, so what, he went through a tough guy faze. He went through a lot and experianced some terrible shit.
And yea, he is humanized again in PoP3, so was no problem for me. Not to mention I think saying WW was a bad game just beca of character change is dumb in my opinion, didn'y break away from fact it had superior gameplay.

I think the overall tonal change of the game (including the sound/score) is what put people off the most, and the character change was part of it. For me, PoP 2 just didn't hold interest as well as the first and the third, so while the mechanics themselves were improved, the game overall just wasn't as good. I still think PoP 2 was a pretty good game, just not as fantastic as the others.

I must be the only guy who was disappointed by the third one.. neither 2 or 3 held a candle to sands of time IMHO.
I loved the atmosphere and the characters for SoT, as well as the originality of the setting and gameplay.
(2 had some great design later on, but was ruined by the changes to the style and generic-rage guy).
3 was just average in terms of design, but it was nice they went back a little to the original.
Thats a nice pic.. but it doesnt look like the prince I like...

So what you're really trying to say is you cannot afford your phone service so you're telling people not to call you at all? Just trying to clarify.

FINALLY! A new snowboarding game! I hope it feels as natural as skate and nothing like that damn Shaun Palmer P.O.S. Tony Hawk ripoff. Can't wait for more details!

I hope it'll be more like the first two Amped games. They were a bit twitchy, but still the most realistic snowboarding games around.

Interesting...
As long as they don't make it an obvious clone of Assassin's Creed.

I loved the Prince of Persia series. I love to see how it looks on a PS3/360. I hope it plays like the first one but with combos like the second one.

Can I get a Princess of Persia? And maybe throw in some dukes and a couple of potentates, you know, for variety.

Hopefully this will mean Ubisoft will start pressuring Microsoft to get PoP 2&3 working on the 360. I know MS said that backwards compatibility was winding down, but that doesn't mean that there isn't one last update coming in the next year. I don't want to have to bust out my giant Xbox 1 just to play WW and T2T, especially considering they'll look like ass on my TV (480i on an HDTV... Yuck!)

I would love it if the game looked like that picture! They need to return to the mood of the first one, the second completely ruined it by trying to make the prince some heavy metal bad-ass. The fighting was vastly improved, except the final boss was nearly impossible.

I never even made it to the final boss, the game was so buggy. I got the zombie glitch where I became that weird messed up prince before I was supposed to, meaning I had to start over. Plus sometimes when I would wall run, I'd clip THROUGH a wall and fall into an abyss. (this was the xbox version btw)

Yeah, I ended up using cheats to beat the final boss. This was so different from the first PoP where the final boss was such a pushover. I didn't play the third one, but hopefully they finally found a nice balance in between ridiculously easy and impossible.
