Sony has replaced muddled sketches with what appears to be an actual screenshot of the next Team ICO project. The image accompanies several job postings (for planners, animators, artists, etc.) and has been affectionately dubbed "ICO 3" by Team ICO Gamers, referring to Team ICO's mysterious third game, which may be a sequel to Ico or Shadow of the Colossus, or maybe both.
While the chain presently does little more than excite our continued curiosity, the appearance of the screenshot gives credence to hopes for a surprise visit from Team ICO at GDC next month. At the end of 2007, ICO lead designer Fumito Ueda teased, "We're looking forward to the day we can reveal our current title(s) in production. Hopefully it will be very soon."

Man, that Team Ico can make a game about just about anything!

What they should do -- like yesterday -- is bring Ico and Shadow of the Colussus to the Wii.
Honestly, it is **the** best system to port old PS2 titles too that didn't get enough play.

Sure they will. Right about the same time you see Metroid ported to the X360 and PS3. Because it would be soooo much better on those systems, right?
Ico and Shadow of the Colossus are 1st-party titles from Sony. They aren't going anywhere.

No, the screenshot is not very informative, but the fact that these guys are working on another game is cause enough for delight. Both Ico and Shadow of the Colossus were brilliant and unique, and I would play either one of them again in a heartbeat.

It looks like that is one huge motherfucking chain. Look at the size of the plants and the tiny rocks are in patterns. I want to see what hoooje colossus monstar is pulling that chain, and crawl up the fur of his back and kill him in his hed with my stabbaring sward.

While I doubt the new game will be Shadow of the Colossus related, I still get giggly imagining SotC as a PS3 game. 'Cause that'd be SEXY.

For ICO fans, a chain is a lot. Our old pal Ico from ICO was always swinging on chains. A minimal tease, but maybe we'll see Team ICO's next game at TGS, since they're giving out some meager screenshots and information now.

I love all of their work.
That said, the chain kinda reminds me of Silent Hill...

What is it with the mundane things that PS3 fans get so hot and bothered over? Mud, sweat and a now chain.. it's.. creepy. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE Ico and Shadow of the Colossus (to a lesser extent) and I'll be grabbing this day one but a single screenshot of nothing is hardly that enticing.. other than the confirmation that they're working on their next game.

Not to defend some of the more aggravating fanboys out there, but that's an awfully generalizing yet overly specific statement. I say this because it's not just PS3 fans, but fans of anything in general. The first time a screenshot of ANYTHING comes out, people get excited. Or pissed.
Think about the Transformers movie, here.

what is it about people being stoked about something that bothers people so much? god forbid anyone is happy about something you don't find exciting. and then you go on to say how you're buying it "day one"...lol. good post.

Think of it like an announcement that your favorite author is working on a new novel. Maybe the press release is useless for saying what the book is about -- perhaps it just says the book will definitely contain verbs. Doesn't matter. The fact that they're working on it and making progress is a good thing.

You should get it if you have a system that plays it. SotC was truly artistic.

i have shadow of the colossus. if i ever have kids i want them to play it, even though by that time there will probably be games built not of polygons, but of virtual molecules. and will require a holodeck to play them. and if you get caught in GTA 9, the cops actually arrest you. realism ftl.

Eh? You don;t need to buy the game to appreciate it's artistic quality. Just watch youtube vids.
You would buy SotC to climb HUGE enemies and strike their oil patches for MASSIVE damage!

Fenix,
You really need to play SotC, its the first game that has ever made me say "HOLY SHIT", seriously, throughtout the whole game, you can feel that the gaame is epic (and seriously, the soundtrack helped a lot, I freaking fell in love with that soundtrack)

If this game involves a horse, I can only hope they throw out the control scheme from SotC and look towards Zelda, Gun, and (most importantly) Assassin's Creed to firm up the handling. The horse-riding mechanics was pretty much the only problem I had with the brilliance that was Shadow of the Colossus.

I agree. The horseriding had somewhat realistic(?) feel to it, but it wasn't enjoyable to me.

Actually, I've had the opposite problem. After playing SotC, it feels weird and dumb to hold forward to make the horse go forward. I prefer the SotC scheme, even if Agro disobeys once in a while.

Agree with Toasty. The way Agro handles is great. It shows that Agro isn't someone the player controls directly, but has sort of a mind of its own too.

Like its one thing to see Master Chief's helmet or Kratos killing someone...
Just weird. But then again there are no games for the system so I guess any lil thing will cause excitement for you guys.

I am in awe that I keep finding myself defending people from overgeneralized statements in this post.
This isn't a fanboy issue. If this were a fanboy thing, then people would be yelling about how this will finally kill the 360, or some such nonsense. What's going on here is that people are excited for a new product from one of their favorite teams. It's no different than people getting excited because there's a new Batman movie, or because it's a new Christopher Nolan movie.
So far the only fanboy I've seen in this thread is you, because you've pointed out how the PS3 "has no games." As an owner of all three new-gen systems, I concur that the PS3 is short-staffed in the area of quality exclusives, but jeebus man, that's a bit much.

Why would they waste their time with such an inferior system?
Oh thats right loads and loads of Sony money right?
By the time these games come out for the PS3...the systems early troubles will be a thing of the past and even the most anti Sony nutt out there will be playing (or wishing they were playing) these games.

Kay, for a Sony fanboy you are pretty misinformed. TeamIco is "wasting their time" with PS3 because, well... they are Sony exmployees. This is a first-party game.
Anyway, I never imagine I could be so excited about a screenshot of a chain. I loved Ico and SotC... if they did such an incredible job with the PS2, just imagine what they'll be able to do with the PS3. It seems like they will finally launch a game that will make me by a PS3.

The objective: To pull the chain up to the top.
The problem: An irritating girl with OCD wanders around playing with everything that moves. The things that move want to eat her. Giant monsters with epic battles.
The issue: What you're pulling up, combined with the girl, gets you out of the room, but when you let go, the chain falls again.
Further problem: The room is going to explode in 4 hours and if you let the chain drop all the way down, the object breaks.
You know, this could work out as a Saw-inspired video game.
