Last week, we told you of the rumor that Guitar Hero III would be getting a handful of new classic rock tunes. This morning has proven it to be true, with Foreigner's "Juke Box Hero," Journey's "Any Way You Want It" and Boston's "Peace of Mind" all landing on Xbox Live for 500 points, or $6.25 in Earth dollars.
What we don't know is if these songs will be appearing on PSN later in the day, but since this is Thursday, we're thinking it's likely. If you're unfamiliar with any of the new tracks (for shame!) we've put samples of them after the break.
I sure hope RB is getting it. I will give it to Activision, this is finally a decent song pack that I will buy (even though I already have Juke Box Hero on RB), but Don't Stop Believing would be almost wasted without having a full party participation of drums and singing along.
How much for an individual song? Oh that's right Activision doesn't want my money. Suck my balls you greedy slow to update, looking like a bunch of amateur bastards, Activision.
Thank you. I've never given dropped a cent on GH DLC, and cannot stand the all-or-nothing mentality they have in regards to DLC. Want all three songs? That'll be $6.25. Want just one of them? That'll be $6.25.
I've bought over a half dozen songs for RB, and wouldn't have purchased any of them if I had to buy the whole pack. They have my money (and will continue to get it) because they offer what we asked for. Pure and simple.
@paragraph, these 3 might be worth buying together, but I don't see how you can knock RB's DLC options. They cost less, and it's not just a matter of buying one song at a time so much as mixing and matching the songs that you want whenever you buy. So I might decide I'm dropping like $6.50 once a month on some add-on songs, and I get to pick the ones that I really want to play.
With RB and GHIII, the DLC is not even a competition.
I didn't mind the GHIII pricing too much, but I've been playing a ton of Rock Band since Christmas... and paying more for these songs just doesn't seem worth it anymore. GHIII, as much as I love it, isn't in my 360 enough to justifying buying these songs. I'll wait until they hit Rock Band, where I get a guitar, bass, drums and vocal track to play(I already have Juke Box Hero, anyway).
People only want Don't Stop Believing because of The Sopranos. Anyway You Want It is a much better song for this game. The Boston song should have been Hitch a Ride in my useless opinion. Juke Box Hero, although not their best fits the game for sure. Singing like Steve Perry or the dude from Boston is no easy feat for most though. Try some rubber bands around your pellet pouch and see if that helps.
Or maybe some of us would choose Don't Stop Believing because we enjoy classic rock, and we've never seen an episode of The Sopranos at all in our pathetic lives.
Not like it matters to me either way (Ninty needs to get their online shit together), but if any TV show would make me want Don't Stop Believing, it would have been the episode of Family Guy with Peter, Cleveland, Joe, and Quagmire singing this on a karaoke machine.
The Guitar Hero Franchise has made $1B. Not GH3. Don't forget that of the 4 games that make up the GH Franchise, 3 of them were made by Harmonix.
And the 5 million song downloads they tout - I'd like to know how many of the 5m are the Halo/We Three Kings/Boss Battle packs. Because those were all free.
Hot damn, was there some internet meeting that I missed where everyone agree'd to hate Activision and all of it's franchises?
I like GH3. Atcually, I love it. I think it's probably the best GH to date. Yes I own RB, I play the shit out of that game as well.
But there's a problem with RB guitar charts for me: they are more boring then listening to a 60 year old professor talk about modern art. Every song in RB seems to either be a Series of 2 note chords, or a series of Single Ascending/Descinding notes. And not to mention the timing window is stritcer then a catholic school teacher. Say what you want about Neversoft adding notes, they can at least make interesting charts.
Again, don't get me wrong, RB should have been GotY just for the fact that this game has a crazy amount of content, but when it comes to shredding on the plastic, GH all the way. Well, for me anyway.
This DLC is fantastic. Great notecharts for them, amazing to listen to, yeah this is a sweet pack.
Because EA is a magical land of sundrops and rainbows where everybody only cares about making you happy and not raping your wallet with yearly installments of the same old franchises.
People can hate on Guitar Hero all they want. I mean, hey, there are people who play Smash Brothers and Mario Kart who don't like Virtua Fighter and Gran Turismo too.
Hey, what the hell? I got this last night, and all the songs are performed by the original bands... but the version of Juke Box Hero in the pack isn't the one I've grown familiar with on the radio. It sounds like the entire band just got out of bed.
