Guitar Hero III 'Classic Rock' pack now live

What we don't know is if these songs will be appearing on PSN later in the day, but since this is Thursday, we're thinking it's likely. If you're unfamiliar with any of the new tracks (for shame!) we've put samples of them after the break.

and for a second there I was thinking Don't Stop Believing had come to guitar hero... ahh well, maybe next time.
dcrooks @ Jan 24th 2008 10:59AM
No kidding. Why on earth would you release any other Journey song than Don't Stop Believing? Did EA get it as a Rock Band exclusive or something?
(Streetlights...people...)
Danny @ Jan 24th 2008 11:01AM
We all pray for such a day.
DCBlack @ Jan 24th 2008 12:38PM
I sure hope RB is getting it. I will give it to Activision, this is finally a decent song pack that I will buy (even though I already have Juke Box Hero on RB), but Don't Stop Believing would be almost wasted without having a full party participation of drums and singing along.
32_Footsteps @ Jan 24th 2008 10:55AM
Great, now I have "Juke Box Hero" stuck in my head.
Ah, hell, it's a great song. Great song pack across the board.
Jerk Face @ Jan 24th 2008 11:40AM
I effing love that song! I hate most hair metal, but damn it if that song doesn't kick ass!
Eric @ Jan 24th 2008 10:55AM
Yawn tell me when it comes to rock band.
Duscrom @ Jan 24th 2008 11:52AM
JukeBox Hero has been in Rock Band for over a month now.
Eric @ Jan 24th 2008 12:09PM
I know that, I just meant the rest of those songs.
GRANTED @ Jan 24th 2008 4:11PM
anyway you want it is one of the most fun songs to sing along to ever. it would be amazing for rock band.
baby hold tight...
Justin @ Jan 24th 2008 11:00AM
I want them on both GH3 and Rock Band.
Great songs though.
JonFitt @ Jan 24th 2008 11:01AM
Not exactly Classic Rock as I understand it, but at least it's something.
GHIII is the wheezing fat kid of the rhythm game market. Rock Band is already on its second lap.
AirIntake @ Jan 24th 2008 11:24AM
Journey, Boston, and Foreigner are very much classic rock. But no, they're not the Stones or Led Zep etc.
Saneless @ Jan 24th 2008 11:06AM
How much for an individual song? Oh that's right Activision doesn't want my money. Suck my balls you greedy slow to update, looking like a bunch of amateur bastards, Activision.
paragraph @ Jan 24th 2008 11:13AM
...wow
really?
Damn...
I think you're likely to buy all of these together... what lamer only buys ONE song... oh wait... i forgot... Rock Band...
Saneless @ Jan 24th 2008 11:20AM
Well, even if I bought all 3, which I have no desire to do, it's still .75 more expensive than 3 would be on RB.
But people are dumb and have already told Activision that they're happy overpaying, so I guess I can't blame them.
Farseer (GDI) @ Jan 24th 2008 12:51PM
Thank you. I've never given dropped a cent on GH DLC, and cannot stand the all-or-nothing mentality they have in regards to DLC. Want all three songs? That'll be $6.25. Want just one of them? That'll be $6.25.
I've bought over a half dozen songs for RB, and wouldn't have purchased any of them if I had to buy the whole pack. They have my money (and will continue to get it) because they offer what we asked for. Pure and simple.
DCBlack @ Jan 24th 2008 12:51PM
@paragraph, these 3 might be worth buying together, but I don't see how you can knock RB's DLC options. They cost less, and it's not just a matter of buying one song at a time so much as mixing and matching the songs that you want whenever you buy. So I might decide I'm dropping like $6.50 once a month on some add-on songs, and I get to pick the ones that I really want to play.
With RB and GHIII, the DLC is not even a competition.
Sless @ Jan 24th 2008 11:10AM
I didn't mind the GHIII pricing too much, but I've been playing a ton of Rock Band since Christmas... and paying more for these songs just doesn't seem worth it anymore. GHIII, as much as I love it, isn't in my 360 enough to justifying buying these songs. I'll wait until they hit Rock Band, where I get a guitar, bass, drums and vocal track to play(I already have Juke Box Hero, anyway).
FidliousWong @ Jan 24th 2008 11:16AM
If the rhythm game market is a fast food restaurant, this song packed seems positively slathered with ketchup.
paragraph @ Jan 24th 2008 11:18AM
I don't quite get the analogy...
Is it a good thing (i like me some katsup)
or is it an over-done unapatizing thing that you'll pass on...
FidliousWong @ Jan 24th 2008 11:24AM
ketchup, catch up, GHIII is tragically behind on their DLC promises and delivery schedule....
zero @ Jan 24th 2008 2:14PM
I see what you did there.
zero @ Jan 24th 2008 2:14PM
I see what you did there.
Brian @ Jan 24th 2008 11:21AM
I would purchase these if I wasn't still boycotting Activision because of guitar scandel 07.
Randall Smith @ Jan 24th 2008 11:25AM
I'd like to play the Boston song, but Journey seems like the perfect DLC for Rock Band.*
*If you can sing like a girl.
deathcab1 @ Jan 24th 2008 11:29AM
Lol. "classic rock" pack.
as if to say the rest of the game soundtrack is from 2000 onwards.
Zoot Suit Jedi @ Jan 24th 2008 11:41AM
If GHIII content goes live and no one cares, does it still make a sound?
Grammar freak @ Jan 24th 2008 11:50AM
When you go to as many bars as I do, you grow to loathe "don't stop believing" with a passion
Me @ Jan 24th 2008 12:14PM
Boo GH.
Yay Rock Band.
That is all.
horngreen @ Jan 24th 2008 12:15PM
People only want Don't Stop Believing because of The Sopranos. Anyway You Want It is a much better song for this game. The Boston song should have been Hitch a Ride in my useless opinion. Juke Box Hero, although not their best fits the game for sure. Singing like Steve Perry or the dude from Boston is no easy feat for most though. Try some rubber bands around your pellet pouch and see if that helps.
dark_inchworm @ Jan 24th 2008 1:54PM
Or maybe some of us would choose Don't Stop Believing because we enjoy classic rock, and we've never seen an episode of The Sopranos at all in our pathetic lives.
Croove55 @ Jan 25th 2008 12:04AM
Not like it matters to me either way (Ninty needs to get their online shit together), but if any TV show would make me want Don't Stop Believing, it would have been the episode of Family Guy with Peter, Cleveland, Joe, and Quagmire singing this on a karaoke machine.
Game Artist @ Jan 24th 2008 12:19PM
I wonder how long it will take activision to learn from rock band's DLC?
hvnlysoldr @ Jan 24th 2008 3:29PM
Why's everyone going gaga on Rock Band when Guitar Hero made a BILLION DOLLARS?
bearxor @ Jan 24th 2008 5:01PM
The Guitar Hero Franchise has made $1B. Not GH3. Don't forget that of the 4 games that make up the GH Franchise, 3 of them were made by Harmonix.
And the 5 million song downloads they tout - I'd like to know how many of the 5m are the Halo/We Three Kings/Boss Battle packs. Because those were all free.
OldKingCole @ Jan 24th 2008 3:32PM
Hot damn, was there some internet meeting that I missed where everyone agree'd to hate Activision and all of it's franchises?
I like GH3. Atcually, I love it. I think it's probably the best GH to date. Yes I own RB, I play the shit out of that game as well.
But there's a problem with RB guitar charts for me: they are more boring then listening to a 60 year old professor talk about modern art. Every song in RB seems to either be a Series of 2 note chords, or a series of Single Ascending/Descinding notes. And not to mention the timing window is stritcer then a catholic school teacher. Say what you want about Neversoft adding notes, they can at least make interesting charts.
Again, don't get me wrong, RB should have been GotY just for the fact that this game has a crazy amount of content, but when it comes to shredding on the plastic, GH all the way. Well, for me anyway.
This DLC is fantastic. Great notecharts for them, amazing to listen to, yeah this is a sweet pack.
Cesaria @ Jan 24th 2008 4:01PM
Wake me up when we get some real classic music on here. i.e.: The Cure, The Smiths
DiddlyKong @ Jan 24th 2008 4:17PM
Everyone watch the 4 year old sing juke box hero. LMAO!!
Jeff @ Jan 24th 2008 4:54PM
"Guitar Hero III 'Corporate Rock' pack now live"
Headline corrected.
Shockgamer @ Jan 24th 2008 5:32PM
Because EA is a magical land of sundrops and rainbows where everybody only cares about making you happy and not raping your wallet with yearly installments of the same old franchises.
People can hate on Guitar Hero all they want. I mean, hey, there are people who play Smash Brothers and Mario Kart who don't like Virtua Fighter and Gran Turismo too.
Ninegauger @ Jan 24th 2008 6:10PM
Very nearly tempted by Boston, luckily they still pack this shit into bundles, way to go Activision!
jcfranz @ Jan 24th 2008 8:19PM
Quite possibly the best application of any way you want it:

I said it once, and I'll say it everytime...
NO "More Than A Feeling"? WHAT A WASTE
dark_inchworm @ Jan 25th 2008 11:20AM
Hey, what the hell? I got this last night, and all the songs are performed by the original bands... but the version of Juke Box Hero in the pack isn't the one I've grown familiar with on the radio. It sounds like the entire band just got out of bed.
God damn it.
