GH was really kool when it came out, and the second one expanded upon that. But it's lost its appeal to me and now just seems more like the dance dance games with one comming out every 6 months or so. Blah.
Those songs are great though.

Great songs and all, but seriously, I haven't put in GH3 since I got Rock Band, and I don't image that'll be changing anytime soon.

Honestly, I think the Guitar era of games is winding down and that will show in the next installments sales.

I don't want any GHIII DLC, especially not at these prices. I'd rather have them in Rock Band. I'd buy them for GHIII if they were 50 - 80 points per song.

I've never bought any dlc for any Guitar Hero game, but I will be picking these up tonight!

Sorry GH, but Rock Band is a much better product, with more DLC, and better pricing. I will save my points for Rock Band.

except for that whole part of it being $80 more to start with and you still don't have a full set of guitars. the drums might be cool, but the guitar sucks. the look and menus of rock band are much cooler, but guitar hero is a much harder product to master. i can pass expert on rock band without practicing, but can't pass hard on guitar hero after three months. i do like the rock band dlc, but don't go and complain about the songs being 80 ms points higher when the game is $80 more.

GHIII with guitar was $100. Rock Band with Guitar, Microphone, and Drums is $170. I think the $70 is more than worth it considering what you get. Not to mention the game is more accessible to people due to the fact that it is easier to play. Rock Band focuses on FUN. GH wants you to be a Guitar God which is stupid because playing Expert on GH means nothing when it comes to playing a real guitar. So I will stick with Rock Band because I play games to have FUN.

sorry. it was only $70 more and you're complaining that a three song pack is 75 cents more.

and your 'fun' argument is lame. if you're new, play guitar hero or rock band on easy or medium and it's the same. i have more fun with gh3 because it's more challenging.

we'll just have to agree to disagree on the point of a game. it's not fun to beat the game's hardest setting the first time around.

and come on. neither game has anything to do with playing a real guitar. i'm not better at driving a car 200mph because of forza or shooting a rocket launcher because of halo. it's a game. none of it really matters.

I'm still holding out for Boston's self-title album to be fully released on Rock Band... I am hoping that's simply inevitable.

How does one release a Boston track without including "More than a feeling"? Is that even possible???

Where is Collective Soul? I wanna rock out to Gel, Heavy, etc.

One is easily able to do so, since "More Than a Feeling" is on GH1.

Of course, if you don't have a PS2, that hardly matters.

Guitar single player = GH3 > Rockband
Multiplayer = Rockband > GH3

end of story

If I want to shred insane solos GH3 is way more fun

Eh I'm content with Guitar Hero III's multiplayer. It gets my girlfriend to play games and she's the only one I'd want to play it with anyway. Plus I have no desire to play those clanky drums and if I wanna sing I'll just turn on the karaoke. Plus Rock Band/Harmonx has been tanted by the black death that is MTV.

Agreed. I have not played Rock Band but through reviews and word of mouth Rock Bands Guitar play is too easy. Plus people are comparing apples to oranges here. Activison's game is called GUITAR Hero. Ahhh emphasis on guitar. On the other hand we have Rock BAND. No not a marching band but I guess we could make a case for being slighted for not getting a trumpet, twirling baton etc etc. They are two different games that use a common theme to draw people in. Me personally I like to shred on the Guitar and you know what I suck at the Hard level. But I am going to try and figure it out. Brings me to another point. Do we not hear a lot of news about games being too casual and too dumbed down. Most complaints I hear about GH3 is that it is too hard on HARD and EXPERT. Once again those levels appeal to the hardcore fans that want more of a challenge. Can't relate. Play Call of Duty 4 on Easy and then set it to Veteran...(compare)...then start a blog about how you prefer to play Soldier of Fortune b/c the enemy AI is too stupid to realize which end of the gun the round comes out. At the end of the day it is all a matter of preference. Granted I would still like more DLC for GH3 or even a port of PS2 versions if Harmonix doesn't mind. Crankball please keep in mind I am not taking a shot at you. I just decided to reply to you b/c I like your simplified reasoning.

Looking forward to this alot finally some more 80's tracks, but when o when o when are we gonna get some Def Leppard? They are like one of the best bands ever! Wheres the Who, AC/DC, Led Zepplin, Pink Floyd, FFS we could even have "The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac!
GH3 promised us more DL's than ever and so far we got videos about the DL's, wtf!
Gimme some rock will ya! Its called Legends of Rock, and there aint enough Legends on there!

Honestly, unless you simply blast through 5 stars on GHIII on expert, Rock Band's guitar stuff holds up fine. And if it doesn't, I guess you're not really the target person the game is going after... Personally, at some point I think hitting thousands of buttons as fast as possible loses some of its luster. I'd just say Rock Band on expert with some of the tougher songs is hardly boring.

This is garbage. These songs are more suited for Rock Band. You don't think of these bands and go, "Those sure are some great guitar drivin rock songs." WHERES THE LED ZEPPLIN, JEMI HENDRIX, PETER FRAMPTON, ERIC CLAPTON, PINK FLOYD. Hell you could even throw in a few celtic based songs. They're more guitar drivin than Journey and foriegner. ITS GUITAR HERO!!!! NOT GUITAR ZERO!!!!!!

I own both games and play Rock Band almost exclusively. If you find RB's expert mode easy and are bored then pick up a real instrument and stop complaining. It is fun and feels more like playing music. GH has a dirty and hardcore vibe. Rock Band is loads of fun in all multiplayer modes. Unless you have no friends (or lack a gold account), hate buying dlc, and like nerding out over plastic guitar difficulty, then Rock Band is the game for you.
