I was surprised that you didn't post Gamestop's unexpected 9.0 review. Now if only I could find a damn copy.

I'm glad the reviews are good. Lets just hope this won't be another Zack and Wiki incident.

Now if I could only beat shinobu.

Shinobu kicked my ass badly. The only other assassin that gave me as much trouble was Holly. And that was all on the easiest setting. I'm looking forward to playing through again on the hardest setting.

Haha, to beat Shinobu... Lock on to her and dodge as soon as she attacks. Then proceed to beat her ass without mercy, hoping you can make her dizzy and do the suplex.

I just beat her on my 3rd try.

I gotta say that recently my agreement of IGNs reviews have fallen way off. I used to be dead on with what they would review in a game, now the very things they're pointing out as flaws I wont even notice, or care for. They seem to be VERY overcritical of Wii offerings. The good ones. That EVERYONE else scores higher.

IMO you should have posted the 3 worst scores, just like you did for Endless Ocean, lol.

I'm sure you were probably being facetious so that you could get in your little jab at us ;), but just so you know, the IGN "78" we put in there is the lowest score listed so far on Metacritic.

I've now decided to get this game, if only I could find it.

I had only slight problems finding mine. My local Gamestop, Target, and Best Buy are all in the same block. I hit up Target and Gamestop, no copies at either. Best Buy had at least 20. Awesome.

Now, if only I didn't have four hours of reading to get done today...

My waller appears to be telling me, No More Money.

I weep.

I bought the game (and did my civic duty) last night and popped it in, intending to check it out for a half hour or so and get back to it this weekend. I ended up playing the sucker for about 4 hours and simply said, the game ROCKS. The combat is so much fun and, it in the short time I played it, there was innovation around every corner. I like everything about it... except the oddly lifeless free-roam city they give you to explore. A minor gripe for a game that seems to be filled with a TON of fun. Seriously, you've gotta try this! Well played Suda.

Hmm... I don't mind IGN's review as long as you read the text. They just sounded very disappointed with the city environment where you travel from mission to mission. Early reports about the game had me looking for a GTA-level of coolness, and No More Heroes would've been a huge disappointment for me as well if that expectation hadn't been adjusted.

That said, action sequences are what the game is all about and they are wild. No More Heroes definitely has more than it's fair share of style.
:)

(By the way, nice selection of quotes for the article. Picking one review from the top, one from the middle, and one from the bottom gives a good range of what different reviewers are saying without making the numbers appear skewed. If I'm going to be critical when it's done poorly, I should also be complimentary when it's done right.)

:thumbs up:

I LOVE they way they incorporate the cell phone calls. What an incredible way to draw a connection between the game and its controls.

If I didnt know better, I could swear that Quentin Tarantino wrote this game.

Well, if QT did write it, it would suck. So that's one big difference.

(BTW: I loved Reservoir Dogs.)

Xplay gave his game their first 5 out of 5 for the year and said it hands down the best game out right now.

I find it funny that so many individuals claim to not have found the game at any Gamestop. When I went yesterday to purchase One Piece Unlimited Adventure at a local KCMO gamestop, I asked the employees about the game. Since a lot of other stores were said to not have any copies. This is what they told me:

[note: copies mean original amount received by the store]

No More Heroes - 06 copies, no purchases, pre-orders
Endless Ocean - 04 copies, 01 purchase, no pre-orders
One Piece Unlimited Adventure - 03 copies, 03 purchases, no pre-orders

This is game is pretty awesome. I found mine at Best Buy and played for an hour or so last night. Good stuff!

Though it's true what people are saying about the city, it's pretty pointless.

This game's sole flaw is the city. The City looks like it was ripped out of Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 in terms of its graphics, the city is lifeless and filled with irritating invisible walls

The game completely makes up for it by the fact that it is Otaku, Punk Rock, and Tarantino-esque all in one. Plus the combat, the combat is just a barrage of light and sound, a throwback to the fighting games of yore

And i love the dialogue
"Ok, if i get to number one, will you do it with me?"

Another great Wii game -- definitely something different + worth the price of admission. Really fun. It does have some technical issues, but nothing that gets in the way of how fun & sweet the game is.

I don't remember many huge-selling DS games when it was only a year old -- hopefully all these sweet Wii games that the mainstream doesn't pick up on will still make a profit and encourage more creativity for the system devs.

I have many heroes. They can be collected into one type of person, and that type is the one who lends a helping hand when no one's watching, being careful to avoid the limelight lest anyone would give them too much credit. They're just helping those who are in need, what each person on this planet should already be doing. For all those who do thankless jobs day in and day out, they are my hero.
