Damn solid drummer. Although I just don't get heel down bass. Heel up 4 life suckas.

Look at 2:38

Technically it's heel up because his heel isn't rested on the pedal, even though his heels are at a lower position than the average drummer.

Everything is better with more drumming. But this piece is missing something. It needs more cowbell.

That's a helluvalot of drums. The only other person I've seen with that many drums is Alex from Mana.

You need to check out Mike Portnoy's kit then:

http://www.mikeportnoy.com/about/drums/albino.asp?menu=about

That said, this guy can really play.

Mike Portnoy? Don't make me laugh. Terry Bozzio is God.

Yes, he uses the WHOLE KIT.

Um...what about Neil Peart? His set wraps all the way around. He probably has to be airlifted in the center of it because it's a solid wall of rock all the way around!

Wow. Guys who need drum sets as big as Portnoy's and Bozzio's have serious insecurities.

In other news, Vadrucci's my new hero.

Aaah didn't mean to post that yet. Errant tap of the touchpad.

@ wait in the car: Huge drum kits like Bozzio's, Portnoy's, and Peart's are pointless if they don't use the whole thing. But they're great because they do use it all.

But Buddy Rich was God.

I've been playing a lot of Rock Band lately, so I'm pretty sure I can play this, too.

Probably not. There's a huge difference between four pads and a pedal and a regular size kit. Rock Band is great for developing a sense of rhythm and getting your form right, but the move to a real kit isn't quite so easy.

He's a great drummer, I actually found out about him from a random youtube search a few months back. He has tons of stuff there, including this song.

Vadrum has a Youtube account if I remember well.

Go check him out: his compositions are usually very tight.

I'm guessing the answer will be yes, but just to confirm...is the music written by Koji Kondo like basically all the other Nintendo Music? It sounds like it, but I can't find anywhere saying it is. On Koji's Wiki page it lists Doki Doki panic, but not Super Mario bros. 2 (US).

Anywho, I love the main theme. One of my favorite game themes ever.

His drumming style reminds me a lot of Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater's. A lot of melodical styling, heavy double bass.

Yeah, Dream Theater can surely be heard as one of his influences. And if you go to Youtube and search for Vadrum, you will find several other similar covers that he did, and some of them are dream theater covers.

Sure, the drums are pretty awesome and all, but I saw Mario 2 and realized that nothing will ever outdo the Estradasphere mix:

Check it out. (I'm sure many have already heard it).

Drum solo before the Birdo fight music was pretty wicked though.

While obviously cool sounding, I get annoyed at drummers who use double peddles for their bass drum, it just seems to me like almost cheating. Blink 182's drummer cna play faster on on pedal than most can on 2, so I know it's possible.
