PS2 vs. PSP online play, care of Yu-Gi-Oh
PlayStation 2 owners looking to take on their portable siblings can now do so with online battles of the new Yu-Gi-Oh! game, The Beginning of Destiny. According to the press release (via PSP Fanboy), the PS2 and PSP titles can do battle and, akin to other card battle titles, collect cards from cross-platform opponents otherwise unavailable in your version.Sure, the PS2 is a last-gen console, but still one that sold almost 4 million units last year. We're hoping to see more cross-platform play between the two consoles.

Now imagine if developers did this cross-platform play with games that they are porting to PS2...
You could be gaming online while traveling, etc... and then hop online with the same game on the PS2.

Yu-gi-oh GX isn't that bad but the bastardized American version courtesy of 4kids is so f*cking retarded. Japanese version FTW

Bout 24 months too late on that request. Maybe BEFORE the DS dominated the market, they might of had a fighting chance with this.

Man, I can't wait until cross-platform play between PS3, 360, and even Wii.

All I have to say is Meh-Gi-Oh.
DemonGSides @ Jan 25th 2008 11:32AM
I'm honestly surprised it wasn't Meh-GAY-oh.
Pleasantly surprised.

Hahaha...well, don't want to flame bait the Yu-Gi-Oh gamer contingent too awfully much. What I would like to see is PSP/PS3 connectivity for PS1 games. That is, add an online component to PS1 games that wasn't previously there, as in with Mortal Kombat II and Goldeneye (eventually) for XBL.

I thought the correct pronunciation was "you-gay-Hoe"
snarfoogle @ Jan 25th 2008 11:36AM
If only they did this with MGS3:S and POOPS+...

Finally online support, I have bought both PSP games (Both mediocre but Konami at least is trying to improve the games, YGOGX:TAG FORCE 2 wasn’t that bad but seriously slow paced minigames for a game with already slow paced gameplay? This is where you at least try to insert a shooter or something, next time add Gladius I)
I have to say that for a portable game I like more YGOGX than pokémon right now,I’m not sure what the hell happened to the Pokémon formula that is now even worst or it was always that way but when I was 9 it was acceptable but Pokémon Diamond isn’t as fun as lets say Gold or Silver also at this point one would think there would be support for Fire Pokémon.
Anyway the Tag force series are both good games if you are a fan and since the PC versions of YGO and MTG both suck the PSP (I haven’t played the DS versions) a good alternative and is cheaper than buying the actual cards.

So true man, so true. Hell I can name everyone 5 other animes that got the political correct bastardized treatment like the back of my hand.

In my mind, Yu-Gi-Oh will always be a show promoting battle cards. Like a really long advertisement with seasons, promoting how awesome they'd look with a bit of imagination.
