Reminder: GameTrailers TV with Geoff Keighley premieres tonight
We don't mean to tell you what to do during your Friday evenings (or early Saturday mornings), but we thought we might at least wedge a single suggestion in-between "pwn sum n00bs" and "stop destroying the English language." If you or your trusty PVR device were to eye Spike TV at 1amET/PT tonight, you'd experience the premiere of "GameTrailers TV with Geoff Keighley," a weekly magazine-style program dedicated to those video game things you like so much.
Hosted by media "darling" Geoff Keighley, the show will not only come to you on the airwaves, but via a download on Xbox Live Marketplace and -- for those dying to pore over Geoff's pores -- an HD version on GameTrailers.com. For further incentive, consider that the premiere will highlight an "exclusive sneak peak" of EA's Command & Conquer FPS, Tiberium.
Be sure to let us know what you think ... after you've watched it.

1 am? High ratings confirmed.
Nick the Hero of Canton @ Jan 25th 2008 9:05PM
GameHead had the same time slot and I think it was Spike TV's number 1 rated show.
Nick the Hero of Canton @ Jan 25th 2008 9:06PM
Nvm, it's the highest rated game show on TV.
MarMar @ Jan 25th 2008 9:03PM
Why did his parents spell Jeff Geoff?
Neebs @ Jan 25th 2008 9:10PM
So the occasional person who know nothing will say Jee-off.
Nick the Hero of Canton @ Jan 25th 2008 9:13PM
I say that just for the hell of it. Even though I know that's not how it's pronounced.
MarMar @ Jan 25th 2008 9:17PM
i knew this Brian who was spelled Bryan, and we'd all call him Brianne
Neebs @ Jan 25th 2008 9:28PM
Admittedly I always pronounce Danielle as Daniel. I just speak too slowly.
Exo @ Jan 25th 2008 10:41PM
Geoff is from From an Old French form of a Germanic name.
lots of people have their name spelled that way.
MarMar @ Jan 26th 2008 2:32AM
Sorry mom, I'll be more sensitive to the frogs and krauts next time!
Ethan @ Jan 26th 2008 3:39AM
Jeff comes from Geoff. I know more of the latter than the former.
Oh good, he'll try to ignore the inbreds and the fatsos next time too.
Dustin @ Jan 25th 2008 9:05PM
Pore over the pores...
There's seldom a pun-free moment on Joystiq!
And if there is, then Ludwig probably has the day off.
Mr.ESC @ Jan 25th 2008 9:17PM
So what the show is about game trailers that we can see on gametrailers.com or we are talking about different trailers here?
Well please tell me the guys of screwattack won't be there. I mean AVGN is still awesome but I just want to punch Tom and Greig, Creig whatever his name is.
A-Troll-Named-Slickback (Yes the A Troll Named part, and yes every time!) @ Jan 25th 2008 9:27PM
I'll check this out in HD ...on my Macbook

ncxcstud @ Jan 25th 2008 11:03PM
I'll be watching it in HD...on my TV...through DirecTV :).
DVRd so I don't see the commercials either :)
Klay @ Jan 25th 2008 9:50PM
As a gamer, I stay away from anything having to do with Spike (or g4 for that matter).
A-Troll-Named-Slickback (Yes the A Troll Named part, and yes every time!) @ Jan 25th 2008 9:56PM
why...
Whittico @ Jan 25th 2008 11:03PM
Yeah, I don't really understand why people hate G4. And before I get attacked, yes, I was watching when it was just TechTV, but I didn't pay too much attention because I was a bit naive in my younger days. It seems to me like they try to be about videogames as much as they can while staying entertaining to the non-hardcore masses.
A @ Jan 26th 2008 9:52PM
G4 indeed sucks.
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Jan 25th 2008 9:59PM
I'll check this out on my 360.
Nick the Hero of Canton @ Jan 25th 2008 10:04PM
GameHead really wasn't all that bad, I enjoyed it and I like the host.
Ghen @ Jan 25th 2008 10:33PM
I'll be watching the Gametrailers.com version myself.. Not because I have a fascination with seeing pores but because its the easiest and least time-intensive version.
markhill66 @ Jan 25th 2008 11:05PM
I'm looking forward to this show and I'm glad it's happening. I hope Geoff gives himself the time to say everything that he didn't get the chance to on Fox. I just wish it wasn't on so late.

Because Geoff's parents were D students
badarsemother3k @ Jan 26th 2008 12:56AM
I think I will check it out. Thanks for reminding me Ludwig.
Dick Ward @ Jan 26th 2008 2:03AM
I'm trying to think of things that were worse than this. Oh yes, the Spike TV VGAs. Aside from that, not much comes up.
Whittico @ Jan 26th 2008 2:07AM
Well, GameTrailersTV wasn't that bad...the show kinda jumped around from topic to topic, but it was watchable past that. I like Geoff Keighley (and the way he spells his name), but it seems like he gets more media coverage than any of the other game journalists (or "gae experts" as Fox News Channel calls them) and maybe it should be spread across to some other people. Granted, the man knows his stuff.
JasonD76 @ Jan 26th 2008 4:24AM
We seriously need some more good video game shows. G4 related shows don't cut it.
theCardinal @ Jan 26th 2008 9:22AM
I'd love to know by what standard 540 line video is HD. Maybe I'm being pedantic and exaggerating a bit but GameTrailers are liars! It's a scam!
theCardinal @ Jan 26th 2008 11:31AM
Well, I've watched it now and it was pretty good. The reviews were maybe a bit on the short side, but parts of the Tiberium preview were interesting and that L.A. bar looked like a cool spot.
One of the better shows in the speckled history of game shows IMO.
NukeAssault @ Jan 26th 2008 12:54PM
Honestly didint feel all to different from Game Head. Which isint necessary a bad thing. As theCardinal said reviews were rather short. They basically take a 6-7 minute review and make it a minute and a half. They give you the basics of the game. The stuff you'd care about. only beef is that it airs so late that'd id probably never watch it regularly. Unless of course i DVR'D it.
