Smash Bros. Brawl footage reveals story mode details
62
We're (supposedly) nearing the release of what could arguably be considered the Wii's most anticipated title ever, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and we're all drowning in a deluge of information about the game. However, as much as we hate to add to the noise, you simply must watch the above video, which shows a few short, but sweet, gameplay clips from the Subspace Emissary story mode.
It looks like Nintendo has improved the side-scrolling gameplay featured in Melee, and has crafted personalized single-player (or co-op) stages for a number of characters in the game. With videos like this dropping regularly, and with only a month and some change until the game drops, we're going to need to invest in a fairly sizable drool guard to preserve our poor, saliva-covered computer monitors.

ok, I'm not a huge fan of SSB (hey, I like it, but some just live for it), and it will most likely make me buy a Wii by then (then I ll be able to say "Wiiiiiiiiiner"), and this title is looking better everytime...
...but what is there after Brawl? besides MH3 (which by then I hope Nintendo has their online service fixed), I haven't heard of any new titles, hell, not even a Zelda game...and Metroid, well, isn't Corruption supposed otbe the last one?

Last for the Prime series, I think, I doubt they'd ever abandon the Metroid series.

I am a little worried, myself, but knowing how Nintendo operates, those worries will only be justified if nothing shows up on the horizon at E3 & Leipzig
Mario Kart will be their November heavyweight this year, and Disaster: Day of Crisis will probably hit by then
Metroid Prime 3 was the last Metroid title like Halo 3 was the last Halo title. More sequels will be forthcoming, but they will be part of different story-arcs

Out of the games you mention, the only one I was interested to was Mario Kart, but all I have seen hints to a normal kart MK, I was hoping for a new installment of Mario Kart Double Dash...
I don't know but Mario Kart DD is by far better than previous games, and if they weren't to keep on working on that formula, then the next MK will seem quite mediocre

The new Factor 5 game... Fragile: Farewell Ruins of the Moon wich looks amazing...
Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Mario Kart, Final Fantasy CC... and a lot of more games that Nintendo probably will do.
Monolith Software games too.

It will be awesome if Nintendo release a Super Mario All Stars with that kind of graphics, at a budget price, like $29.99.

Double Dash, the best Mario Kart game? Not even. I mean, the stages were pretty awesome, but I'm not a fan of how the game controls or the lame sense of speed (or lack thereof) that the game conveys.
Mario Kart DS >>> Any other Mario Kart installment to date, and if Nintendo delivers on their promises (MK Wii is supposed to have many of the stages from previous games, different types of vehicles, 8/12 player Wifi Play (reports confilct), etc.) then I predict MKWii'll end up even better.

I didn't said that Mario Kart DD was the best... Maio Kart DS has a lot more features, courses, karts, online mode, challengues...
But Mario Kart DD is my personal favorite... I love that game. And in fact, my fav. aspect is the control of the game.
My least favorite Mario Kart is the 64 version, because I don't like the control, and I don't like the way to do the miniturbos.

The two-player mechanic was dropped due to an overall negative response to it, from what I've heard. Personally, I liked it (store two items at once? Hellz yeah), but I guess it wasn't for everyone (many lamented the lack of jumping).
Who knows, maybe they'll surprise us and include a Double Dash mode in Mario Kart Wii. Okay, that's setting my hopes up too high. :/

Yes, the best one by far.
Actually it controls much better than in previous installments, not only that, but now you can control one kart by yourself, of go co-cop, which adds A LOT to the game.
I'm not saying that Mario Kart DS sucked (altho I didn't enjoy as much as I thuoght I would), there were TONS of new features (gawd, I love the emblem maker), but the control, sense of speed, and adrenaline aren't a la par with DD, I don't know if it was because you played it against/with unskilled people, but the game is amazing...
All in all, Mario Kart DD had a more deep, entertaining, and fresh gameplay then Mario Kart DS did...

To me Mario Kart DS has the best racing in the series (- snaking), but Double Dash has the best battling (regular balloon battle and omg bob-omb battle!). If we can get a combination of that for MK on Wii then it will be one hell of a game for us :)
MK and Brawl in the same year? Mind boggles.

I'll come out of left field and throw some props up for the GBA Mario Kart. Specifically the track design. The GBA Mario Kart had some of the most creative and interesting tracks of any Mario Kart game. Even in the DS version, the four bonus tracks from GBA really stand out in my opinion.

I second the GBA Mario Kart nomination.
Mario Kart DS was freaking awesome, but eventually all it turned into were snaking battles which, while fun, kind of ruins the game after a while.
Mario Kart Double Dash was great for the emphasis on the double-team racing. And they did some things right. Like how your buddy can bop people in the face and steal their items. That never gets old. But the game overall just seems slower (almost Kirby's Air Ride slow), and the lack of jumping just feels unright to me.
GBA Mario Kart had the best set of courses, and call me old-fashioned, but I prefer the old-school style of kart control like the classic SNES original.

FOX NEWS ALERT! This game contains explicit animals/humans beating upon each other in bloody mayhem ans is dangerous for your young ones! I've never actually played the game, but animals forcing to fight more superior humans to death is a disgrace.
Once again, this News Alert is brought to you by the douchebags of the news world, FOX NEWS.

Damn, that was quite the framerate. Melee never ran THAT good!
Posted: Jan 26th 2008 4:31PM BPMOmega XBL PSN Steam said
You sure? Last time I checked (which was fairly recent), Melee almost always ran at a constant 60fps. I think I might've noticed slowdown once in all the years I've played it (and the dramatic deaths in Stamina Mode don't count).

Posted: Jan 26th 2008 5:20PM (Unverified) said
If you had Melee playing in Progressive Scan the framerate was nothing short of remarkable. I have suffered frequent slowdown with the game though - probably due to the fact that a favorite pastime of mine is to play with three other people in Big Blue with all items on Very High in Lightning Melee mode with 50 lives with everyone sporting a handicap of 9. Hectic doesn't even begin to describe it. Seriously, if you haven't tried it, do it now. Now.
