So just to clarify, Take Two's agreement with Thompson stops him from taking legal action to stop the sale of the game himself, but *does* allow him to ask his "friends" to do it for him... is that right?

I'm just trying to get it straight, because if I remember correctly the entire point of TT reaching that agreement with him was that they wished to preemptively stop him from pulling this s**t when GTA IV arrives.

finally I can agree with the man, I wouldn't want this game inthe hands of children either. at last he's lowered his standards to keep it from getting to children rather than everyone

because Rambo is not a video game. Believe me if it was it would be a murder simulator thatr cause kids to kill Asains and soilders.

I think the fact that this man, with all the bullsh*t he spreads about games, has not yet been brutally murdered by some one from the gaming community is a clear indication that he is a f*cking liar and games do not create psychotic murderers.

Also, I can't tell you how much I hate the *ssholes that blame video games for their violent behavior so they can get a lighter sentence. They're such n00bs.

What a fascist has been. He needs to stop forcing his beliefs and "authority" or lack thereof onto others and let parents be parents. We don't need big Jacko in every home across the good ol' US of A. Deal with your own personal life, Jacko, and let other people deal with their own. We don't want or need you involved.

I do agree with him a bit. I think these games should be kept away from children. I don't know exactly where the line between children and everyone else lies. I'd say 16 years olds and below should not be given these games. Some people do mature earlier, and some later, so there's no real way of deciding who should have these games. But I do understand why he's so bent on keeping these games away from children.

I think Rockstar should have a GTA game where you are in court during it and that the other side sends gay porn to the judge. :)

I don't get it, people get so mad at this guy for calling something what it is. When I order an extra large fry at McDonalds, I don't tell myself it's a Clif bar. Seriously, kids, if you're going to play a murder simulator, at least don't call it a video game.

he's really gonna flip a shit when he sees how good the graphics are lol.

i do agree with him that children shouldnt be playing games like this but instead of trying to get of it banned completely, why not teach the parents how to use the already in place ESRB ratings and parental controls on the consoles? i mean little Johnny probably will be able to walk into a game store and buy GTA IV but he wont be able to play it if the parents take action and set the parental controls that all consoles this generation come with. hell you can even set a time limit on the 360! the actions have been taken to prevent this but the gaming world can only do so much without alienating the target 18-24 demographic..

esrb is a terrible excuse for a rating board i have at least a hundred games that say theres blood in them with no blood and at least a hundred more with blood that dont say theres blood in them they are inaccurate to say the least

well i do agree with you but that wasnt my point. the movie rating system is similar to the ESRB since every situation is going to vary. you may have an R rated movie over here where they say fuck every other word and murder people for 2 hours or you may have another R rated movie where they just say fuck every other word. they are very different though in that i dont believe the ESRB plays the entire game and reviews source code as they should (see GTA SA). the point is that even if they arent the most tight rating system, they give a general idea to the buyer about what is going to be featured in a game.

i never really saw the harm in seeing blood anyway. now how you make the blood come out is the thing. if i slice someone with a sword and and ray of sunshine and flowers comes out then it's ok? i still just sliced someone with a sword and now little johnny will try to freshen up his room by cutting his little sister's arm off with a kitchen knife. violence is violence whether blood is shown or not.

@B1gC72 If a game has the same content as an R rated movie it would get an AO rating. The ESRB rating system is way more stricter then the one that is used for movies.
It's not the government's job raise our children it's the parent's job. Once parents and Jackass Thompson figure that out people like JT will fade out.

Also the TV is going after video games because they are losing out to video games because most gamers do not watch alot of TV. So that's advertising dollers that they are not getting.

That saying is for people with no grasp of the abstract. See, JT is DOING stuff, wether you know it or not. He's sending letters, wether you know it or not. And when they make the law in wich showing the cover of GTA to a minor is punishable by law, you won't be able to say to the judge "well I didn't know about that law". I say it is unfair to treat games as more of a threath to kids than movies, when gaming content is usually tamer than TV and movies. I don't want to have to anter an "adults only" section at gamespot to buy Fable 2 while kids can watch the Sopranos or R rated movies or Happy Tree Friends anytime they want.

I have to agree that GTA is certainly a "murder simulator" in the broadest sense of the term. I don't think it should be banned, though.

I am convinced that, years from now, it will be discovered that he was never a lawyer at all, but a performance artist. Maybe this is his art. Maybe making wild, unfounded accusations is how he chooses to express the angst and pain in his life.

Or he might just be a jerk. The jury is still out on which of these 2 it be.

well, as a lawyer he's already sold his soul to the devil....heheh....and is it just me that wishes he would die every time he makes some stupid statements? of course, that could prove his point of the "murder simulator" but if I don't play GTAIV before he dies, would that disprove his theory? regardless, the game is going to hit the market, be rated "m" and life will go on per usual, and he'll get paid big bucks by clients that think they can keep this game from being released.
