'Guitar Hero: On Tour' trademarked, possible name for DS version
The trademark hunters over at Trademork have latched on to a Jan. 19 trademark filing by Activision for the words "Guitar Hero On Tour." "Big deal," you might well say. "That trademark could be for anything. A national promotional tour ... a Guitar Hero themed safari adventure ... a new show on the Travel Channel ... anything!" That's a good point, but when you put the trademark together with a Wiiz.fr post (picked up by GoNintendo) that lists Guitar Hero: On Tour as the name for the previously confirmed DS version of the game, then things get interesting.Of course, knowing the probable name of the upcoming DS game doesn't really tell us much about how Activision is planning to squeeze Guitar Hero's larger-than-life gameplay onto the DS' small screens. Still, this information could be useful for impressing friends. Try this: The next time Guitar Hero comes up in conversation, casually mention that you "can't wait for Guitar Hero: On Tour" and watch your buddy's face sink in awe of your amazingly wide gaming knowledge. You can thank us later. We accept checks and money orders.

That's cool, I'll probably like the song selection better than Elite-Beat. Thank God I finally found my DS, too!

i was reading reviews at netflix.com and saw a review by baby sea tuna which coincidentally is also your name. assuming you two to be one and the same, i thought you might be interested to know you are 33% similar to me in film taste. i think it was a review on helvetica.

I love Elite Beat Agents... great game. Rhytm games fits perfectly on the DS... the problem with EBA is that the cart size was to little. They loop the songs to create a loger song, but still, the quality coul have been better.
But, they can use a bigger cart, like the one in Archaic Sealed Heat (2 gigabits) and store more songs...
By the way... Jam Sessions, altough not a game, is a really great application, with a excellent sound quality.
Fernando Rocker @ Jan 28th 2008 1:29PM
*I think that 2 gigabits are 256 MB, right? Or am I wrong? =(
Ghen @ Jan 28th 2008 1:48PM
just divide by 8. giga- means 1024 in computer language.. gibi- being an even 1000 but nobody uses gibi except non-geeks trying to look cool.
HighFiveJesus @ Jan 28th 2008 2:21PM
But the song list is awful.

Thats a good blactard, be sure to whore that guitar hero out and water it down some more. Maybe im a big old negative nancy but I just dont see how this would capture the fun of GH.
Fernando Rocker @ Jan 28th 2008 1:31PM
They can do a EBA style game... you should try it... it's extremely good, with a lot of challengue ad fun.
baby sea tuna @ Jan 28th 2008 1:36PM
That's what I was thinking. I mean, Phase for iPod is pretty fun and that's only got 3 buttons and the dial. If they made this like EBA, but stuck with the GH style licensed content, it could turn out well.
Which is good since, unless they do a major overhaul, I'm pretty much done with GH on consoles.
copa @ Jan 28th 2008 1:58PM
Yes, but Phase was developed by Harmonix, whose creativity and passion bleeds through all of their products.
Activision needs to release this game soon, because in about six months they will have completely strip mined the Guitar Hero brand (see Tony Hawk).

I really want to play phase but i have the nano before current one that it will play on :( . I played a demo for elite beat at a gameshop. It was pretty cool. Im thinking about getting yet another ds.
THE WICKER MAN (BWF) (GT: Dalek Prime) @ Jan 28th 2008 1:27PM
Like the new avatar tuna.
baby sea tuna @ Jan 28th 2008 1:33PM
So it's showed up for everyone but me? :(

marbine? zombario? Maribine?
ScottG13 @ Jan 28th 2008 1:58PM
Its kind of funny how trifling Guitar Hero news seems now-a-days with the juggernaut of quality that is Rock Band hanging around.
baby sea tuna @ Jan 28th 2008 2:05PM
Still waiting for that d/l pack featuring Lucille, The Gambler, and Just Dropped In...

"Are you employed sir? You dont go out looking for a job dressed like that on a weekday?" "Is this a...what day is this?"
StarFoxA @ Jan 28th 2008 2:11PM
I can't wait to rock out on my Nintendo DS!
wootman @ Jan 28th 2008 3:16PM
im hoping it will be like audiosurf, or amplitude.
Paul @ Jan 28th 2008 3:19PM
I still don't see why they havent made a guitar hero for the PSP. Mini USB guitar for GH on the go, I'd buy it.
Esupio @ Jan 28th 2008 4:18PM
My friends mock me for my immense gaming knowledge :(
Jon @ Jan 28th 2008 7:34PM
Why would they choose the DS for a portable GH instead of the PSP? UMD's hold much more information, and that would allow them to include more songs at higher quality. The DS just doesn't seem well suited for GH.
ComradeTrotskii @ Jan 28th 2008 11:11PM
I don't mean to be a dick but is the word 'check' how you guys in the US describe a piece of paper directing a bank to pay you money on behalf of a signatory? In the UK it's a 'cheque' and I have trouble seeing the word 'check' as being the same as 'cheque'.
Again, sorry for being a dick. Also: Guitar Hero DS, it's going to be bad and you all know it.
ThornedVenom @ Jan 29th 2008 4:51AM
I'm so getting this. Unless there are only 5 tracks.
