Sometimes you just get tired of killing your friends. Many game-makers might find this shocking, but it's true -- sometimes you want to band together with your buds to take on the world (or the computer-controlled AI, at least). Unfortunately, unless you're willing to scour the web for news of co-op modes, you might find you can't get no cooperation if you tried.
Enter Co-optimus, a new site founded by Evil Avatar Editor-in-chief Nicholas Puleo to gather together information on all forms of co-operative gaming. The site currently lists over 120 co-op games for current systems, including over 100 released in 2007. It's a great resource, but we're a little bummed that the site doesn't list older systems yet. You haven't lived until you've seen a "co-operative" game of Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers turn into a battle to throw your partner into as many enemies as possible. Good times.
New site chronicles co-op gaming

This is excellent! Most of my friends here are non-gamers, so I sometimes have a hard time finding something that they will play with me, and they almost never want to play competitively.
I'll definitely be using this site a lot in the future.

Finally! I can't believe there's actually a community that understands and loves co-op gaming.
Now all we need is lobbyists.

I used to play chip and dale with my brother when we were wee little kids. Amazing co-op game. Also, looking forward to Army of Two.

I remember back in the snes day's when me and my dad would play goof troop - That game was pretty hardcore and the puzzles were pretty difficult.
Then when i had a clue what i was doing we played some Perfect dark. Oh how delicous that was in co-op mode.
Shame he's not into gaming anymore :(

Funny, I used to play Chip n Dale with my brother when we were little kids, too. And it really did turn into a battle to throw your partner into as many enemies as possible. That's exactly how I remember it. It's weird that such a specific childhood memory isn't unique.

THEY TOTALLY STOLE MY IDEA!!!
But, I'm actually glad they did. The reason I never actually tried to make the site in the first place is because it just seemed like too much work. And I'm lazy. And I never would have thought up a name like "co-optimus" anyways.
Good job!

I love local co-op but really who was the moron who thought Crackdown was better without it?
The only game I finished in online co-op was Streets of Rage 2 but it was pretty much work, since I had to guard the other guy so he didn’t die and stuff. At the end he said thanks, well at least I knew my work was appreciated also I got a pretty sweet achievement.
Now this is a good idea but there are already sites dedicated to this stuff.

After Double Dragon 2 for NES, co-op was never going to get any better.

Now I'm going to have this song stuck in my head all day. As well as the creepy conversation I had with some people years ago when one person admitted he thought Gadget was hot when he was young. This lead to others admitting to the same.

Rescue Rangers struck the delicate balance between hating your big brother and laughing hysterically.
The game mechanics are brilliant, and there are so many boxes to lift and throw, I wish I were 12 again.
