At least one pesky mutant race is out to make a fashion statement this year, as these first screenshots of Resistance 2 reveal a sporty, new Chimeran bodysuit. Not sacrificing flexibility for durability, the new get-up is suitable for indoor and outdoor activities in various climates – just be mindful of the cooling system. Now, how about some matching shades to cover up those creepy, glowing eyes? And please, can we do something about those beastly choppers!

looking at the comparison it looks like lighting is the major differences. Outdoor areas have some more detail, but it's still all static. Models don't look vastly improved. Looks good overall though. Whoever compared it to crysis....hasn't seen crysis..

Also I say that (crysis comparison) because I clicked on the image and went to the PS3 website where I pulled up a lareg Hi-res pic and it looks rediculously sweet!

With Blue-ray winning the format war; if this game lives up to the hype I may have to give in and Buy a PS3.

I've been thinking about this a lot lately.
Why do the good guys always kill the ugly monsters. Why can't we have more games where you are the ugly monster killing a bunch of handsome heroes?

All I can say is...I really hope so but doubt it.

Fenix,
Nothing to doubt here, the guys at Insomniac have a history of ALWAYS providing in-game footage, might it be cutescene or actual gameplay (unlike Killzone and halo)
This generation they have done it with both R&C and Resistance, why doubt them?

Why doubt them? Because all game companies do it with their games. Games like R&C aren't showcased for their graphics in particular, but a game that is supposed to show the "muscle" of the PS3 is going to be dressed up before it's release, just like the first Resistance, Gears of War, Halo 3, and every other 3D game known to man.

Zeus,
"Why doubt them? Because all game companies do it with their games."
What part of "Insomniac has a history of ALWAYS showing in-game footage (might it be cutscene or actual gameplay)" you didn't understand? They have NEVER done it, why do it now?
"Games like R&C aren't showcased for their graphics in particular"
What the hell are you talking about? R&C has been praised by many for its graphics, have you seen it in game? seriously, inform yourself a bit better before making ASSUMPTIONS

Sir, please provide me proof that they "dressed up" Resistance, because all the footage that they provided was actual game footage, not "dressed up" at all (unlike Gears, Halo, and others)

Hyams,
You know if Microsoft decided to go dedicated they easily could you know? It's just a matter tweaking the network a bit and encouraging publishers to create a dedicated server section on the MP menu.
I also heard that Microsoft will have "HD Required" label on future titles to accommodate developers who wish to create larger games that will need the Hard Drive.

Actually, Leobebes, many developers have stated that getting a dedicated server to work with Xbox Live is a huge pain in the ass and any advantage you gain is lost by running through the Live service. The developers of Frontline were fairly vocal on this a while ago while they were bragging about being the first 360 developer with plans to support their game with a dedicated server. You also hear about these issues in post mortems and Live itself is the biggest contributor to laggy multiplayer.
So yes, they COULD create dedicated servers, but will Live take away the advantage there>
Also... MS has stated several times that they would never allow a game which requires a hard drive. Despite the claims of this happened, it's not. Just give it up.

MS screwed themselves by not including the HD in every SKU - any developer will tell you that MS wants all games to work on the lowest common platform. That's why Sony shouldn't get shit for their SKUs - it's still a common development platform unlike the 360.

Well their problem is that they want their cheapest, HDD-free SKU to be able to compete at the lower price-tier (with the Wii), if they start letting devs go all crazy with the HDD required thing, consumers would realize that the starting price would be a load
Only a few games will go HDD-required, kinda like the N64 and the Expansion Pak

The new suits likely have SOMETHING to do with these being the older Chimera. That is, of course, basing off the idea that the second will take the fight to Russia where the Chimera have had ~20 years to adapt and evolve. Lots of people forget, most of the Chimera in Resistance 1 were practically newborns.

Its hard to say with static images, but they do seem a little more agile than their shambling cohorts in England. I think you've got it right.

Their cooling systems also look more advanced. There doesn't seem to be the four cooling towers but now two and the power source seems to be moved to the chest.
I said at the end of Resistance 1, man... if those bastards could do all that in a few short months, how fucked up could Russia be?

Halo 3 was good. RFOM 1 was VERY mediocre. There is no reason to pretend it is good anymore now that the PS3 has excellent titles like Ratchet and Uncharted (and I finished ALL of the games mentioned above)

Regardless of how it looks or how it plays, the fact of the matter is that this FPS offers *several* things no other console FPS has ever offered - 60 player multiplayer, 8 person co-op, and two full campaign modes.
That's nothing to sneeze at. It's not "another mediocre FPS". Maybe the gameplay and framerate will be awful, but that's impossible to know now. All we know is what they've told us, and what they've told us is pretty amazing.
