Too bad yours isn't. I demand that you stop your attack on the English language! "Why is Justin's writing so awesome?" is the correct sentence.

Advanced Tech? Better Cars? More Culture?
That is some of the biggest BS I have ever heard.
1) Most of the technological advances in the world today start in NA and Europe. Japan just takes existing technologies and refines them. Cars, televisions, microprocessors, none of these are Japanese inventions.
2) Better cars, that's all opinion my friend, maybe if you listen to all the hype and PR BS Toyota and Honda give you. The fact is statistically a lot of Japanese brands are no better with regards to initial quality off the line then any other car companies in the world.
3) More culture? Japan doesn't care about the rest of the world. I know people like to talk about the US and how they think they are the centre of the universe, but Japan is just as guilty as the US is at this, if not more so.
Look at the video game industry for instance, in NA we generally accept all game types and game companies, Sony, Nintendo, and MS all sell well. Go to Japan, the only consoles and games that sell well are Japanese. If you look at the software sales in Japan their top games sold are usually shitty Anime based games or weird dating simulators, and the Japanese population in general absolutely refuses to buy an MS branded console. The only culture Japan cares about is Japanese culture.
I'm tire of people sitting around suggesting that Japan is this amazing place and how they wish NA could be exactly like Japan in every way. The grass is always greener on the other side people.

Might add to Fernando's list
- Less racism than in the US
- Focus on education (without going to the extremes)
- Less censorship than in the US
"1) Most of the technological advances in the world today start in NA and Europe. Japan just takes existing technologies and refines them. Cars, televisions, microprocessors, none of these are Japanese inventions."
Sorry, most nowadays start in Europe, than Asia, then America...
And the very few that start in the US, how many asian people do you think are on the team?
"2) Better cars, that's all opinion my friend, maybe if you listen to all the hype and PR BS Toyota and Honda give you. The fact is statistically a lot of Japanese brands are no better with regards to initial quality off the line then any other car companies in the world."
I agree with you, but then again, every day you see people importing cars from Japan to the US, why not the other way around?
"3) More culture? Japan doesn't care about the rest of the world. I know people like to talk about the US and how they think they are the centre of the universe, but Japan is just as guilty as the US is at this, if not more so."
I lived with my cousin for a few weeks, he tells me that he hasn't had any trouble in Japan, I keep hearing of all these problems, yes, they might not wildly accept influences from other cultures, but unlike the US, I didn't see as much racism as there is here...(might it be that I live in Florida?...)
"If you look at the software sales in Japan their top games sold are usually shitty Anime based games or weird dating simulators, and the Japanese population in general absolutely refuses to buy an MS branded console. "
Guess what? Ace Combat sold quite well in Japan...
Guess what? despite having the "A Team" of the videogame industry, Blue Dragon didn't sell well enough....
Sorry, but that way of thinking doesn't really apply anymore, its like saying that on the US every FPS with aliens sells well.
"I'm tire of people sitting around suggesting that Japan is this amazing place and how they wish NA could be exactly like Japan in every way. The grass is always greener on the other side people."
well, that's your way of thinking, and you have to accept that some might like Japan over the US. I'm tired of people who tried to force their way of thinking to others.

First, those videos depict the worst part of society, I can do THE EXACT SAME for EVERYSINGLE country...there is ALWAYS a part that is too nationalist
Second, are you REALLY basing your opinion on what someone else says/shows? seriously, go to Japan and see it for yourself.
Third, hey, believe me, I live in Florida, and Davie county is one of the bases of the KKK...if based on those videos, you are telling me that Japanese are bad, then what the hell does that make the KKK?

@Huey: For your third point, I believe you're committing a fallacy of equivocation. The US is considered "the center of the world" because of its influence on other nations. Japan (from what I believe you're trying to say) thinks it's "the center of the world" because it simply doesn't care about other nations.
These 2 "centers of the world" aren't used in the same sense, and therefore cannot be equivocated.
Furthermore, you must understand that the level of English is incredibly low and Japan is an extremely homogeneous country. They aren't interested in other cultures because they are, quite literally, inaccessible. For example, you won't find a China Town or Little Italy in Tokyo.
When it comes to video games, I can tell you many shied away from the Xbox because it was simply too large. You can't understand how incredibly tiny most Japanese homes are unless you've actually lived in one. Also, the games on Xbox are not the type of games that Japanese kids traditionally play. Their culture is different, get used to it.

The Japanese aren't upfront about their racism. And even if they were, you wouldn't understand what say about you anyways. I can vouch that racism is present in Japan, but it's passive. Instead of active hate, it's more like "Gah, why are you here in my country"-type of mentality. Racism is unfortunately everywhere, whether it be the US, Canada or Japan.
It also shows that you've never been in the Japanese education system. It's expensive, it's unhealthy and it favors cramming as opposed to understanding. The lack of public schools allows private schools to charge astronomically high prices per month and the pressure to succeed is far too present. I would never raise my kid in Japan for fear of putting him through that. I could write a novel about all the things that are wrong about that system... (However, I don't want to make it seem like it's ALL bad. Things like having students clean the school every day instead of having janitors teaches responsibility and respect for your surroundings. I know my high school could've used a little more of that.)
Also, hardcore porn is censored in Japan. I don't know what censorship is like in the US, but I hope it doesn't beat that ;)
@Fernando: About the violence bit, while there may be less murders, things like rape and sexual harassment are rampant in Japan. Most aren't reported though, unfortunately. If you're a high school girl in a cute uniform, Japan isn't the safest place on earth.
Also, about the hot girls: those are the ones you see in the media. The Japanese think the same thing about the US... That everyone looks like a supermodel or is fat (since that's all they're exposed to). I used to think you but booooy was I wrong ;) Just thought you should know.

Most of those people don't know about the Giant Japanese Hornet, with is a 3 inch long hornet that spits acid (in your eyes, incidentally) and calls its buddies to come and kill whatever it's got its sights on. 30 of those suckers can clean out a 30,000-member bee hive in 3 hours (and they kill the bees by cutting them in half with their giant jaws), and they live RIGHT OUTSIDE TOKYO! After learning about these suckers, I scared about even flying over Japan.

Sadly, forcing his heart to do that much work after a lifetime diet of McDonalds resulted in Ronald going into cardiac arrest immediately after filming this.
While he survived, he required a quadruple bypass and is ironically forced to live on organic lettuce for the rest of his life.

Huey, what crap are you going on about? Have you ever visted Japan? Anyone who has actually visited the country wouldn't make such a stupid comment.
Japan is filled with a great presense of culture, they have maintained that throughout history, you can't blame them if they don't want to change that simply because you do.
They don't care about the rest of the world? Lololol, remember where you live mate :) Japanese travel around the world more then you do, in fact, over here in the UK, many of the mates I have, many of the children in our schools, many of the people making a difference in this country and others are Japanese. Besides, Japanese are in your country, making games for your console, and even the Xbox has Japanese people working on it who live in America. So explain to me again, what are you on about?
By the way people, you can now get an A Level at McDonalds over here in the UK, lmao, what has the world come to?

From what I understand, while Japanese travel the world, it's almost as if they do so out of competition, taking tons of photographs and turning them into slideshows which they force their friends to endure, rather than for the sheer enjoyment of seeing other places. Similar to the way they hire karaoke coaches so that they can out-perform their friends at the karaoke bar. It's like the ultimate "keeping up with the Jones'," taking all the fun out of otherwise enjoyable activities.

So? I do that, doesn't mean I any less enjoy the experience of jetsetting to other countries and seeing thier culture. I've been to America, and loved it, we visited New York, California, Miami and Keys, Orlando, and Washington, at different times of course. But each time I come back, I fill my facebook page with pictures :P Or get my family to sit and see the videos on TV and whatnot. Just the same way they do when they go off to Cyprus, Africa, Shanghai and whereever else.
Thats the whole point of visiting other countries, what would you prefer them do, visit and take no photos to come back with? Yeah, it is slightly a competition, but mainly to show how cultured you are, or how many other countries you have been to. But yet, each country you go to stays in your mind. Some you will enjoy, others not so much. Not only do I have Japanese friends, but I have Japanese exchange students in and out of my house, they are wonderful people by nature, I dunno why everyone sees the need to slag them off, especially gamers.

Oh and Huey, on the terms of racism, its America and Europe that have the KKK, not Japan, its America and Europe who were famous for thier slave trade many years ago, not Japan. Even now, there are still places in America that I as a Black person dare not venture for fear of being shot dead by some tattooed guy and his henchmen. Alabama?
So yeah, I'm not saying there aren't rasists in Japan, but there is Racism everywhere.
