This Wednesday: Rez, Chessmaster come to XBLA

The best thing? It's only going to run you 800 points (or 10 Earth dollars). If you've never played the game before (or even if you have) you need to take our word on it that a ten-spot (especially when you consider the newly added sounds and visuals) is nothing short of a steal.
The other (criminally, but for a different reason) $10 release this week: Chessmaster Live, which is like chess but ... live.

Finally =)
Cyro @ Jan 28th 2008 12:48PM
I have been hearing a lot of good things about REZ HD, but I don't really have a clue what this game is about.
I am wondering if this is something I should get. Looks interesting and I have some points to spend :)
And what is this whole multi-controllers for vibration feedback I have been hearing?
KiraXD @ Jan 28th 2008 1:24PM
happy birthday to me... this will be an AWESOME b-day present! (1/30/08 woot!)
Fernando Rocker @ Jan 28th 2008 1:27PM
Happy Birthday two days in advance! =)

To Cyro:
Take Panzer Dragoon.
Feed it a blotter of acid and give it an awesome trance soundtrack.
You now have Rez.

My b day is on the fourth...guess im just gonna get some crap like frogger 2.sigh.
Nate @ Jan 28th 2008 12:33PM
I'm jealous, this game sounds really cool.
A Pissed-off English Gamer @ Jan 28th 2008 12:37PM
To be fair on the chess-goers you'd probably get more time out of it. :-)
rv @ Jan 28th 2008 1:56PM
I like chess. I have trouble finding people to play. It is too much cash though.
Kendall B @ Jan 28th 2008 12:37PM
Oh, how quickly my $60 ebay PS2 purchase is rendered idiotic.
RoboJoel @ Feb 21st 2008 11:07PM
Even more idiotic when you consider SEGA-Parts has / had been selling it for $40 brand new. :D
Kendall B @ Jan 28th 2008 1:01PM
Actually it sells for 59.99 at the site.
THE WICKER MAN (BWF) (GT: Dalek Prime) @ Jan 28th 2008 1:40PM
Thats 1 cent less!
nerrrrrrd @ Jan 28th 2008 12:37PM
I think REZ HD is going to be one of those XBLA titles I purchase w/o even bothering with a trial version...
...hmmm I'll probably still give it a test run first, but I loved it on Dreamcast.
Saneless @ Jan 28th 2008 4:25PM
Do it.. I paid almost $60 for the DC import based on a few people's feedback. I didn't even have a whole site gushing over it and it was worth every penny. At 10 bucks I'd buy this for friends if I could.
Deck @ Jan 28th 2008 12:39PM
Hawtness!
As for the chess... I guess it could be better live!
Joe Smith @ Jan 28th 2008 12:48PM
I played Rez when it came out and still have it around here somewhere, and I am not sure it will hold up all that well. It was cool at the time, but mostly because it was unique. Lots of games have happened since then, many of which do the music thing better. If you have never played it, it probably is worth $10 just for curiosity's sake, but it is probably not going to be a religious experience for anyone.
Player1 @ Jan 28th 2008 2:42PM
I disagree. I think playing through area 5 can be a religious experience for many people who have never had the chance.
Dustin @ Jan 28th 2008 3:24PM
I beg to differ. The first time I played Rez, it practially WAS a religious experience.
And I'm not trying to be an ass, here... but can you name some of the games that have done "the music thing" better than Rez?
Rez was already close to gaming perfection, and now with HD visuals and enhanced sound (not to mention support for THREE trance vibrators), I would argue that this game has no flaws whatsoever, unless it comes out with some glitches, etc.
Unless you just plain hate techno music, or don't like rythm games at all, this game is easily worth the ten dollars, and not just for curiositie's sake.
Moofree @ Jan 28th 2008 12:52PM
My only question is: Does it support usb mice?
I only recently learned of the dreamcast version's support of the dreamcast mouse, and I want to try it.
colin @ Jan 28th 2008 7:58PM
what about usb gerbils?
baby sea tuna @ Jan 28th 2008 1:06PM
Yesss!
baby sea tuna @ Jan 28th 2008 1:11PM
Um, I meant "Yezzz!"
Marty @ Jan 28th 2008 1:07PM
Well I've never played nor heard of Rez before visiting Josytiq... but it looks pretty so I'll try, and possibly buy. :)
LiK @ Jan 28th 2008 1:38PM
I LOVE the original Rez and this will def be on my must-buy list this week. About time!
capt_carl @ Jan 28th 2008 2:23PM
Rez will be an instant purchase for me. Last MSP card I bought I got Puzzle Quest, Prince of Persia, and Metal Slug 3 with. Made sure to save enough points to get Rez. :D
syco @ Jan 28th 2008 2:49PM
If only I had an HDTV.
Heck, I'd almost buy a 360 and hook it up to a computer monitor to play Rez in HD.
(One can allready play Rez in progessive scan on a monitor with a Dreamcast VGA adapter, but it is still only 480p).
Not to mention, then I'd have an Xbox. PD Orta, Fable, SPF2T:HD, Mass Effect. Being poor is really cutting in on the possibilities here.
Alas, I will just have to wait. At least I have TF2,RE:Wii, and GH:3 to keep me entertained until Smash comes out.
Maybe I can afford a 360 this summer.
(end of rant)
Saneless @ Jan 28th 2008 4:53PM
I cannot wait. I think I will call off work Wednesday, get messed up, and just play this all day. Ok that's not going to happen because I can only play it straight through a couple times before needing to take a break, but it's a good thought.
