Video: Perfect Dark Zero on the black box
16
It is no secret that post Microsoft buyout, Rare planned on releasing Perfect Dark Zero to the big, black, original Xbox. But then another console came down the development pipeline, the Xbox 360 was announced, Microsoft needed launch titles and so Rare had to move PDZ's development from the Xbox to the 360. The final product ended up just dandy fine (except for some interesting physics issues), but we always wondered what Joanna Dark would have looked like on the Xbox. Well, our insistent wondering is no more as some of the early tech demo footage of PDZ running on the original Xbox has surfaced.
Watch the pretty Xbox particle effects glisten in the video after the break and admire the crazy amazing polygon count in the video above. True, PDZ may have ended up looking much, much prettier on the 360, but we can't deny the fact that it didn't look all that bad back on the Xbox. Especially those sparks. Original Xbox PDZ spark effects FTW!
[Thanks, Nick B]

Wow...makes want to go throw PDZ back into the 360. Not really.
Why does this remind me of all those hours spent on GTA:SA?

No matter what most people say..I LOVED PDZ..The MP portion that is! Played it to death for the first 3 months after I got my xbox at launch! It was pretty balanced, had a lot of modes, cool weapons with second functions, 32 people support, which no game has done since, and hardly any lag.. Ah I miss thoses days!

Those were possibly the most boring videos I have ever watched. I know that they were early dev, but they were bad, and the 2nd vid became so pixelated you couldn't even read the text.
I am glad it was moved to the 360, it was a decent game, just wish I didn't always get Read Errors on it, makes playing it a chore.

doesn't seem that surprising, considering their other 360 launch title, kameo, was also banded around quite a lot as an xbox1 (and gamecube before that) game, before finally making the transition to 360. i think it's obvious from viva pinata that PDZ and Kameo are not really indicitive of what rare are really capable of. :)

Would this video have been uploaded by the person who uploaded Goldeneye XBLA?

I loved PDZ's multiplayer myself and it compensated for the crap single-player in my opinion. But wow if those graphics were anti-aliased and the video quality was better that would've been quite the looker on the original 'Box.

I highly doubt anyone is going to make a Goldeneye 2. There's probably no developer who would want to develop that. There's just too much pressure.
What I'd really want is Goldeneye XBLA with some Xbox Live Multiplayer added. That would make me a happy camper for some time and I wonder how it would play, what with two joysticks and two triggers. It would sure be interesting and definitely would be fun. Buuut, that is on hiatus indefinitely.
But cheer up, fella'. At least we have Goldeneye: Double Agent...

I'm usually the last person to mention this, but MAN, look at those jaggies. I'm sure some anti-aliasing would've made it look pretty damn good.
Gotta admit, though, I'd probably return it on the Xbox just as quickly as I did on the 360. I'm a freak for the original PD, and PDZ pissed me off within five minutes of playing it.
