According to CVG, Crytek will unveil a cross-platform version of its CryEngine 2 at next month's Game Developers Conference. The CryEngine 2 is best known for making PCs across the planet chug in pain attempting to run Crysis at high settings; this new cross-platform engine will be unveiled running on the Xbox 360 and PS3, but no word on what game will be shown. Crytek will also show off "how well the fully optimized" engine runs on a PC costing around $600.
Although the implication of this news is that Crysis is making its way to consoles after a less-than-stellar PC performance, the latest rumors talk about a Crysis 1.5 for PS3. This would be very similar to what Crytek already did when its first game Far Cry was altered for consoles.

PS3 can easilly outpace a high end PC, when coded correctly... The CryEngine2 will be sweet on PS3..

Sony has their top secret R&D team working on porting it over to the PS3. This is the same team that is responsible for the tech in Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. It is rumored that this team is actually located within the same confines of ND. Will they succeed? If anyone can it's probably them, but we shall see.

I haven't read all the comments here but to just voice another opinion I feel that Crysis should not be ported to home consoles. The game itself was indeed a very well made game and the nano-suit definitely adds a lot of pep to the game in likes of the stealth elements that can be had through out. However, I feel that although the actual game play was fun the storyline was way too short. Not to spoil the end for anyone but...well, if you've played it you know that there really is no ending to the story as it seems to leave you at a very big cliff hanger and just gave me that overall "unsatisfied" feeling. Compared to FarCry however Crysis is 100% better. Aside from the obvious differences like graphics and sound, the game play and story (although still lacking) in Crysis is far superior to anything FarCry could've hoped for.
And for all you out there who are talking about computer performance in Crysis...I don't know if my PC is a super computer in disguise but my AMD64 3200+ (yes...2ghz Single Core), 1GB PC3200 RAM, SoundBlaster Audigy 2 and 512MB ATi Radeon 1950Pro AGP (kick's ass) with the new 1.1 patch can run Crysis at 1280x720 (720p) with all settings MAXED. I'm using the modified configuration files to enable alot of the DX10 features under DX9 like the "God Rays" and Parrallax Mapping (look below for more info) with NO Anti-Aliasing and 8x Anistrophic filtering and I get I swear to you an average of 20-30fps with the never so ofter stop when it auto saves in game. But besides that I really haven't run into any performance problems and I don't understand why higher end machines can't run it as well as I can (maybe DX10 too slow?)
As far as getting DX10 graphics under DX9 here's an informational link:

As far as it not working with 1.1 patch...worked fine for me...just patched then re-copied the config files.
