With the Japanese release of Super Smash Bros. Brawl only two days away, the deluge of video content has really only just begun. Today, it's the full introductory cinematic to the Japanese version, showing off a mixture of pre-rendered cut-scenes and gameplay footage designed to make us bite our fingernails with anticipation.
Surprisingly, the game's intro sequence even reveals a couple of unannounced old favorites returning to the fray. We won't give away any names here, but suffice it to say that a lot of you will be happy. Check out the full intro after the break.
I hope they have the music for it too. I like that the Angel Island music is in, but Green Hill's music is hardcore Sonic from back when Sonic games didn't allow saving. Sonic 2 didn't allow it either, but if I had to choose I would go with Angel Island and Green Hill.
If you check the Dojo today, you'll see that they have a HUGE selection of music before you even start unlocking. I wouldn't doubt that they'll have Green Hill Zone (though personally I prefer Emerald Hill Zone and would LOVE to have both). Sakurai did already say Live and Learn is in (same post that Angel Island was in IIRC).
I really don't get how megaman didn't make it and simon belemont. Maybe even Dante yes I want it all.... I know it is greedy but from all the people they added now I just feel I should have it. But there is no way I can say what we are getting now isn't sweet. Now just to wait.
I wonder if we will ever get a Nintendo vs Sega, or Nintendo vs capcom game. Or even Nintendo Verses the world, and Sega, capcom, Namco, and Konami sends their stars to take on nintendos stars.
Problem is, they have to get the permission to use those characters.
Kojima came to Sakurai with the idea of adding Snake, so that's why he's in there. Sonic is in because Sega and Nintendo have been BFFs since Gamecube, which seems especially true given the Mario and Sonic game that came out recently.
Mega Man is Capcom. Though personally, I'd rather see Pheonix Wright than Mega Man. All he needs is one move: "OBJECTION!" with the pointy finger of DOOM!
That's not a problem; inafune himself approached nintendo about putting Megaman in brawl. He said nintendo never got back to him about it in time to get him in.
I don't understand the argument. So Mega Man can charge a weapon (so can DK) and shoot weak bullets (so can Fox). So what? That makes him Samus because he can charge a gun(arm)?
Anyway, enough of my rant. What they need is Mega Man X. It won't make or break the game, but it would be that much more interesting to me if it did.
1) Nintendo actually releases a full roster for the game 2) Someone in Japan who gets the game first doesn't mind unlocking the characters and telling us whose in it
Am I the only one who's going to be a little disappointed if Bowser Jr. doesn't get in? I thought he'd be a cool character with his paintbrush. And I want Mewtwo just...because I guess.
This whole thing seems slightly anti-climactic since we got a a lot of new cool characters through the dojo and it seems like the characters you unlock are ones we already sort of knew about. Regardless though, the game is still going to be amazing.
"...the characters you unlock are ones we already sort of knew about."
Yeah, it does annoy me. I don't think too many of the unlockable characters are on the dojo, to be honest, but never the less i wish we didn't have most of the goddamn surprise ruined.
it must be quite an endeavor to unlock sonic. in the pictures ive seen the roster looks complete even with a few unannounced characters already unlocked. either he is one of the final characters to unlock or there are plenty more unannounced characters to show themselves.
the reason that their is only 1 sega character is because nintendo is going to have only 3 third party characters... sonic and snake are already confirmed... so that leaves 1 character left... i am hoping it to be either bomberman, simon (castlevania) or geno (super mario rpg)though i have my doubts about geno because square will not let them most likely, but seeing as they went from square, to square soft, to square enix, then i am guessing seeing as the name change, they lost the rights.
It's a shame that no Animal Crossing character was revealed. I figure, since we have a stage, might as well add a character. The character could be a boy/girl villager. Or playing as one of the animals would have been nice too.
All the characters revealed are part of the SSE. My guess is that there are still a few characters which must be unlocked through other means. For example, I didn't see Sonic ANYWHERE in SSE, just in a short game play section in the intro. I also find it odd that there is an Animal Crossing stage, and a Metal NoName (whatever they are called) that looks mysteriously like the character you play in AC yet no character shown unlocked. My guess is at least 4-5 other characters hidden somewhere in that game (including Sonic as he hasn't been on any roster screens I've seen). Lets not forget Jigglypuff isn't on the list yet either or part of the SSE it seems...So I think there are a few characters remaining, hopefully a really big "YES" 3rd party character.
I can't wait any longer for this. I think I'm gonna spend the next month getting ready by finally getting component cables for my Wii and stocking up on batteries.
does anybody have any idea who you do not have to unlock? like lets say you literally just got the game and popped the game into your wii and the very first thing you do is play vs. mode. who are characters on the character selection?
I'm guessing this will be just like the japanese version, so you'll still see ganon, lucario, jigglypuff, rob, toon link, and wolf. So yes, there is two fox clones, but wolf is soooo cool!
