Today's most satirical video: Loading.Ready.Run tackles 'Max Effect'
It's been a week since Fox News ran a largely ignorant news segment on the the brief, minor and optional sex scene found in Mass Effect. The crew of Loading.Ready.Run have produced a satire of the news segment for our enjoyment. All the important interview tactics are present, from the gaming supporter being frequently cut off mid-sentence, having his mic turned off, and the host giving loaded questions and descriptions ("full on hardcore porn sex ... with freaky alien chicks"). The acting may not be top-notch, but the snark is. For a summary of events surrounding Mass Effect so far, including head-turning comments by Jack Thompson, check out this post. Video embedded after the break.
[Thanks, Pattmyn]

Absolutely. Thanks for all you commenters saying how hilarious this was, I'm kinda busy and was just gonna skip over this until I saw all the positive feedback. Glad I wound up watching it, that was absolutely hilarious. The fact that they managed to parody the Mass Effect incident as well as sneaking in perfectly-placed and hilarious references (I laughed so hard at "Let Me Show You My Pokemans: What Your Kids Are Saying" and the "u r mr gay" reference) was just great. That was really an excellent 4 minutes, bravo.

Thank you gamers. Thank you for not letting this crap pass in the stream. We might not get mainstream media to learn or go away, but at least we can make fun of them on the way.
Demaar @ Jan 29th 2008 2:33AM
ARG! My internet is gimped at the moment, and this site's flash player ain't friendly to slow connections. Why do people insist on not using Youtube or Google Videos or Gametrailers or Gamevideos or... I dunno. *grumbles*
aristokrat @ Jan 29th 2008 4:05AM
I thank the heavens for every video that is not from GameVideos. While the other's may be a little friendlier to you, GameVideos is the absolute worst. Please don't compare them to the greatness that is GameTrailers.
teeb @ Jan 29th 2008 8:03AM
Simple answer is that Revver (what LRR uses) pays out for certain numbers of videos watched (and thus certain number of adverts seen).
Thus LRR make a few Canuck cents for each watch to pay for bandwidth, as opposed to none if they hosted it on youtube.
A Pissed-off English Gamer @ Jan 29th 2008 11:45AM
GameVideoes is to GameTrailers what DVD is to VHS.
But anyway, this video pwns.
Deozaan @ Jan 29th 2008 2:45AM
Haha!
Did anyone else think the newscaster said "Pac-Man" funny?
He pronounced it like Puck-Man. I've always said it like Pack-Man.
Sp00ks102 @ Jan 29th 2008 9:55AM
I thought he said it that way to illustrate that he had no idea what he was talking about, meaning he's heard of the game but never actually played it...mighta taken that one out of context though.
MyPackage @ Jan 29th 2008 2:56AM
Pac-man was originally going to be called "Puck-man" but namco changed it to Pac-man after realizing what the game would be called if someone blurred out the middle of the "P". Not unlike this Starbucks sign http://www.billboardliberation.com/wp-content/uploads/2007/08/starfucks.jpg

Out of all the news channels on my TV, cnn, BBC, Aljazeera, MSNBC, France News, etc, Fox is by far the biggest joke. They rant on about complete garbage half the time, for example a man who got stuck in his house while I was on holiday there during the Tsunami. That was the flipping breaking news? When thousands of people were dying on the other side of the planet?
They rarely talk about other countries, which doesn't bother me to be honest, since they are an American news channel, but when they do, they can't even get the story right, whenever they report on something going on here in the UK or anywhere else, its completly different to what is actually happening, or they got some of the stuff wrong, making them simply laughable. Here they go once again, ranting on about unimportant things....sigh.
Zorque @ Jan 29th 2008 4:37AM
I totally agree. I'm American, but I love the BBC because they're always unbiased (they have to be, they're a government-owned organization).
maverick_saturn_626 @ Jan 29th 2008 4:46AM
I can watch MSNBC and CNN, I prefer to get my info from them in terms of conditions in America then Fox.
What annoyed me about Fox again was the fact someone sent in a letter questioning Bush and his actions towards the war on terrorism and how he was handling, and the guy (forgotten his name, but he has his own time slot to discuss these things) turns around and instead of listening or negotiating, says 'Thats utter nonsense, Bush is a great man, he has done much for us, and you should respect him for that', theres nothing wrong with that, people have different opinions, but that doesn't mean you should ignore, scrutonize or disregard other people's opinions, especially not call it nonsense, thats damn out of order :O
LaughingTarget @ Jan 29th 2008 5:14AM
Zorque -
Let me point out the obvious falacy of that statement. How can a government organization be unbiased? Would that not just promote bias in favor of government and governing policy?
The BBC is unbiased because they've chosen to hold on to their credibility and the British government hasn't yet chosen to swing its muscle in that avenue (as far as I know). The BBC isn't any less apt toward bias than any other news organization, they will still have the impetus to be biased in favor of whoever is paying their salary. The only thing saving them is they haven't done it yet.
maverick_saturn_626 @ Jan 29th 2008 5:25AM
The BBC choose not to be biased, they have studios dotted about in lots of countries apart from the UK, so have a first hand report on situations in each country.
They don't rant on about pointless things, the most they would go into in regards to gaming is the release of a new console, or the controversy that a game or console is causing, such as the red rings of death, they only mention less important things like Manhunt 2 ban and Resistance's problems with the church in seperate news hours where daily minor issues are discussed.
They would never put a man locked in his house as top priority over a Tsunami or other natural disaster. Whenever theres a Hurricane in America or Tornado or some other problem, they are usually the first European news channel on the story. Covering it every hour to give us the lastest. They don't go onto other topics like a green cat or something odd, they remain on the most important factor.
This is why I can't stand Fox, they are simply a rubbishy news channel in my opinion.
Crazy Vincent @ Jan 29th 2008 11:44AM
I stopped taking the BBC seriously when I read this article:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/2953619.stm
Did you know that "cows are popular with games creators because killer flying cows can also be unleashed in Neverwinter Nights." It says so right in the article.
dm @ Jan 29th 2008 1:03PM
All of those news channels have a left-wing bias, especially in the case with MSNBC and BBC which are very hard to the left.
Though the fact that most people on here prefer to watch those news channels is probably explains why they get a pass at overgeneralized resentment when they do a hatchet job on video games.
biased @ Jan 29th 2008 1:51PM
All mainstream media is biased, to some extent. I only trust the alternative media...

FoxHoundADAM @ Jan 29th 2008 10:07AM
It's funny how little they needed to stray from the actual dialog to make this a "parody". Fox and that writer couldn't have made htis much easier.

My daughter played this game for 5 minutes and is now 6 month pregnant!
The game came out 3 months ago.
Darkseid @ Jan 29th 2008 11:26AM
Man, that was pretty funny. They should send that to Fox News, just so Fox can see how truly stupid they looked.

That was pretty good! You're clouding the issue!
ME Lover @ Jan 29th 2008 12:51PM
The reference to, "R U MR. GAY" is from the cover of Super Mario Galaxy. If you look at the stars on the cover art, the stars are next to the letters R U MR. GAY. For whoever was wondering up there.

that was hilarious....what's your opinion of Mass Effect now?? Has anyone forwarded this to Fox or Cooper Lawrence yet??
Android @ Jan 30th 2008 5:03PM
Draken Stark, you're an idiot - This is an an amazing parody of a current issue that is important to gamers, so I'd say it's perfectly on topic.

That was great. It actually made me laugh out loud.
