And the greatest video game horse is ...

MTV Multiplayer has been on a quest recently to find the very best video game animal, and they've begun with man's best ... non-mechanical mode of transportation, the horse. Now a panel of experts, that included 2K Boston's Ken Levine and Penny Arcade's Mike "Gabe" Krahulik, are back with their decision: Epona, Link's trusty steed in several Legend of Zelda games.

But controversy is a-brewin' dear reader. For while the esteemed panel chose Epona, the readers have selected Agro of Shadow of the Colossus fame. Which one will go on to do battle with the other members of the animal kingdom? We're sure the competitors wait with baited, oat-scented breath to learn.

Sorry but Zelda is overrated.

Shadow of the Colossus is based on Zelda, except it is everything Zelda should be. More immersive. Less in-your-face annoying childish story. Darker tone and themes. Much greater music. More beautiful world.

good to see its getting the sympathy votes because its the less popular series...

Greater music? At the level that Koh Ohtani and Koji Kondo compose, you're essentially comparing Beethoven to Mozart. It's an argument that will never be resolved and is better off left untouched because in the end they are both amazing and some will have a preference for one and some will have preference for the other.

yah, I agree with kihadat, they are both great composers, thing is, you can't really compared them based on the two games, they are far different settings, one is more like "I'm in a quest to save the princess!" and the other one is like "I'm in a ques to save my lover!", not only that, but in SotC ALL of the battles are epic, I mean, when I played it there wasn't a single second I wasn't like "OMG OMG HE IS GOING TO GET ME! SHIT SHIT HE IS HUGE"....yes, Epic...

This is really tough. Epona and Agro are the clear victors. If I was being really honest with myself, I'd pick Agro. Epona's great, but the bond isn't as tight as it is with Agro. Of course, it's not fair since Agro is your only companion in SotC and so you come to need him to not die of loneliness. Man, that game was really amazing.
