Developer Void Star Creations has confirmed that its Xbox Live Arcade title Poker Smash is coming next Wednesday, February 6. Of course, it could be a bluff, but the excitement seems legit and we doubt the team would want to give away its tell this early in the game.
No word yet on price. If your loins are craving for a poker-Tetris hybrid, perhaps the soothing use of Rez HD will tide you over until next week.

OXM gave it a good review and said it was 800 points.

10 bucks, really? For a Tetris game? Wow, suck. I'll admit to not looking at the reviews, but really, how much can there possibly be to this game?

Poker Smash is going to be awesome! I'm not even a huge poker player, but I love puzzle games and this one looks great. A friend showed me the Beta version and it was by far the most gorgeous XBLA game I've ever seen. The gameplay is super deep too. From what I saw, you chain together combinations of poker hands, gaining score multipliers as you go along. You can drop bombs on cards to destroy them and set up combos as the stack settles. There's a slow motion effect you can use to give yourself more time too. I only played for about 5 minutes, but I could see myself getting hooked on the game. The music was sweet too.

I think it's more a mix of Planet Puzzle League and Poker, not Tetris.
No matter, yes the game is getting plenty of praise, and I'll download it in full on the first day it's available.

Just what XBLA needs: another match 3 game. I guess this one at least has some added uniqueness since it sounds like you can use poker hands like flushes and straights as well as three of a kind and four of a kind.
I wish they would hurry up with Ikaragu. Omega Five was awesome but I am already burned out on it (it needs more stages).

this looks interesting. Im looking forward to it. I have still yet to purchase more then 1 arcade game (I bought marble blast ultra, which I later regretted because the game was WAY too short) and I have played the demo of every single one. I just find the arcade games are not worth it for the little gameplay they give you. Maybe this one will be different

Poker Smash is a Planet Puzzle League type of game in which you match poker hands of 3 of a kind or greater (ie. full house, straight, flush, etc.) There's also bombs that can be used to destroy cards without moving them.
The tournament mode is really cool: 2-5 players have a pile of chips, which move around depending on how the player is doing. Lose all your chips, you're out.

This game looks good and the positive reviews are, well, positive - but come on, ten bucks?!
It does look pretty tho... and I do like all things poker.
