The VC purchases are tied to either a "my nintendo" account, or to the Wii's serial number, or both. If you wii is defective, send it in and they'll transfer the ownership of your VC games to the replacement Wii. Not sure what happens if it gets stolen. In any case, if you run out of memory, or your wii gets wiped, you can just go re-download all the games without getting charged again.

I'll earn no fans by saying this, but Im not going to buy VC titles that I quite frankly feel are overpriced. Nintendo is making a killing on re-releasing (rehashing) old titles that they already cashed in on 20 years ago. Lets see, Im paying for no cartridge (physical entity), no manual, and a game that is exclusively tied to my Wii and my Wii only...

Aside from that, I already had hundreds of roms on my PC long before VC was a twinkle in Nintendos eye, so the point of me buying something I already own legally or otherwise is pretty redundant and silly. For the time being my savings on not buying VC titles is 100%, I think thats a pretty good deal.

To those that complain about the lack of a manual: The VC console games actually do come with manuals, just not in print. You can access it the moment you press the HOME button while playing any VC game.

$92 spent on $206.13 worth of virtual console games. I'd say that's a fairly good deal.

The problem is if you buy the VC games you don't really own them. Your Wii dies you have to go through a lot of trouble to get the games back. Then what will happen next gen? I much rather have the carts.

If by "alot of trouble" you mean "a phone call", then yes, you have to go through alot of trouble to get your VC games back.

And you really believe it's as easy as a phone call? Plus, you have to send your console back.

And you know what is really easy? Spelling "a lot" correctly.

@Crono

But you'll likely get MORE delay with your Wii running VC games if using them on an HDTV since they only run 480p. Just Google up "HDTV lag". The lag can be largely negated by scaling the game internally to HD (as emulators do). Besides, those filters are completely optional.

I hope none of you retards with the "TEH EMULAT0RZ" argument are buying retail games for XBox 360, Playstation 2, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS, Sony PSP, The PC.

Because you're THROWING YOUR MONEY AWAY HOMGZ. Any moron with the right knowhow can run pirated games on any of the above consoles WITH EASE.

Piracy is nothing new. Just because it comes in a handy dandy rom file and runs in an independent program on your computer does NOT make it ethical, and at least in America, CERTAINLY doesn't make it legal. You're no better than anyone else who's ever copied and used a game/movie/mp3/etc. without paying for it. Stop acting like you're some sort of brilliant game maven because you know how to fucking install Nestopia. You are just a cheapass. BRAVO.

VC provides a great classic console experience with a great controller, and by supporting retro gaming and showing game producers that there's a reason to give people like me what we want, you're making your voice heard by speaking with your wallet. Star Soldier R is proof.

I kicked myself after buying a working condition of Shadow Warriors and Kirby's Adventure for £5 each. The Wii came along a few months later and charged HALF that.

Oh well, VC is what I buy now. I don't go for piracy. Never had the same feel as playing a game legally.
