EA reveals 'Facebreaker,' a tooned-up Fight Night

Those approaching the fun will find an inevitably "colorful" cast of playable caricatures to choose from, including "Latin lover" Romeo and "an oversized Russian demolitions expert" called Molotov. If you'd prefer to have your own face broken, you can either integrate a personal photo via Game Face technology or simply wear your Tingle costume when buying the game from the store.
More Facebreaker details can be found in the March 2008 issue of EGM.

Could be fun, in a celebrity deathmatch type of way. If they make it realistic boxing though, it will be terrible.
Imadogg @ Jan 31st 2008 6:00AM
I wanna see cartoon lumps grow out of their heads and stars or birds flying over their heads when they're dizzy and if you hit em really hard they get a Picasso/Mr Potato Head face
Greg2k @ Jan 31st 2008 6:26AM
You can tell this game is going to suck because of the characters. If this was made by Capcom (as to not mention Nintendo all the time) it would actually be fun.
And BTW, that's not cel-shaded at all.
E.J. @ Jan 31st 2008 6:42AM
No EA Chicago? Check.
Fight Night engine on the shelf? Check.
Yep, perfect ingredients for a low-effort, high profit project. Just hope they don't mess with the engine's gameplay aspect too much, if at all.
And the BK King as an unlockable opponent!
ScottyGEE32 @ Jan 31st 2008 6:53AM
This announcement better not have been brought to us by the new dodge caliber or burger king...

So they let Tsunoda go, and then make this crap. That'll make all the fans of Fight Night happy. Way to kill off their best sports game in years and replace it with shit.
FOXHOUND @ Jan 31st 2008 7:10AM
+1...
EA could at least announce that they're not abandoning the FIGHT NIGHT series despite making "this".
upz @ Jan 31st 2008 11:53AM
...but then nobody would buy this. I kind of like it, though I admit, I was really hoping for Fight Night Round 4 instead.
Nigeria @ Jan 31st 2008 7:20AM
So I guess there's no Fight Night Wii.
???
EA are so confusing.
rc @ Jan 31st 2008 7:41AM
Thanks to the Wii and the casuals, we end up with this crap instead of the excellent Fight Night series.
Co @ Jan 31st 2008 8:47AM
Wii dictating the market? Damn straight, you better get used to it!
jsn @ Jan 31st 2008 8:51AM
dictating a market full of garbage..
samfish @ Jan 31st 2008 10:48AM
You say that as if dictating a market full of shooters isn't garbage, either...
FK @ Jan 31st 2008 7:45AM
"He's hurt me, Doc!" "Don't give up, Mac! Fight!!"
"I can't win, Doc!" "Yes you can, Mac!"
"I'm tired, Doc!" "Hang in there, Mac!"
"Listen Mac!!" "Dodge his punch then counter-punch!"
"Listen Mac!!" "Give him a fast uppercut when he is stunned!"
"Listen Mac!!" "Catch him off-guard to stun him!" "Then unload on him!"
"Help! Doc!!" "Join the Nintendo fun club today! Mac."
FOXHOUND @ Jan 31st 2008 7:47AM
I'd like to think that Doc enjoyed embarassing Little Mac by having him jog through the buroughs wearing a pink sweatsuit... especially while his fat ass was cycling the whole thing.

Who says Team Fortress 2 ripoff?
Brucie B @ Jan 31st 2008 8:24AM
Looks Cool!
citykids @ Jan 31st 2008 8:29AM
Very nice EA - first Team Fortress, now Ready 2 Rumble. What? things drying up in the idea factory?
danny. @ Jan 31st 2008 8:55AM
I liked Ready 2 Rumble and one of my bigger guilty pleasures is Black and Bruised so I could get into another cartoon boxing game with no problem. All it needs is some goofey power ups and long combos.
For those who don't know Black and Bruised:

(I have no idea why the people in the trailer don't know how to play... I was hoping to find the Jackpot cinematics)
ZForce915 @ Jan 31st 2008 8:56AM
It isn't the Super Punch-Out sequal I'm looking for, but I'll take it.
NvM @ Jan 31st 2008 9:12AM
I just rented Fight Night 3 and having alot of fun.
I could probably find it for like $15 now too.
Hopefully this would be just as good. and have the same feel as TF2.
Jayslacks @ Jan 31st 2008 9:28AM
Has anyone heard anything on Fight Night Round 5? I mean, don't we want that? Don't we NEED that?
tim @ Jan 31st 2008 10:06AM
Fight Night Round 3 has no equal, and maybe EA has decided that they can't progress the series that much further.
But wow, a cartoon boxing game? I don't think EA can pull that off.
WiNG @ Jan 31st 2008 10:35AM
IMO it should have said
"Sorry Dave can't let you in"
"Why?"
"BECAUSE YOU ARE HEADCRAB ZOMBIE"
WiNG @ Jan 31st 2008 10:44AM
wow, totally wrong post. sorry for the extra dose of fail today, guys
Dan @ Jan 31st 2008 6:57PM
I guess I'm one of the few excited about this. It's obviously not going to win game of the year, but it sounds fun! It does sound like they're shooting for a Mike Tyson's Punch Out spiritual successor at least in terms of characters (remember that Frenchie in the MTPO and, of course, Soda Popinski...both of whom sound like they'll be making an appearance in this one but with different names).
Mr.ESC @ Jan 31st 2008 11:25AM
You know I'm slightly interested in this game, I'm serious. In my point of view Fight Night Round is the kind of game you play when you either need a cheap Gamerscore boost or because you simply suck at Virtua Fighter 5.
Well I love cheap gamerscore boosts and I’m mediocre at fighting games but I was never interested in Fight night but the visual style of this new installment reminds me of Team Fortress 2 which is one of my favorite games right now so yeah I guess I will give this installment a try.

Umm, commas? Take a look right between the 'M' key and the 'period' key.
Michael @ Jan 31st 2008 2:46PM
Ill just wait for Ready to Rumble Next Gen to come out lol...Whenever that will happen....NEVER but still ...YOU NEVER KNOW
