flOw swims to PSP
Thatgamecompany's flOw is finally floating from the PS3 over to the Playstation Portable, CVG reports. The PSN title (which started out as a graduate thesis) will soon be available for purchase and download from the PC-based Playstation Store, where it can be beamed to the PSP for on-the-go underwater trippy creature-eating... stuff.
According to CVG, the PSP version will likely remain largely unchanged from the PS3 original. Though no release date was given, CVG speculates that flOw may appear alongside today's scheduled PSN update. We can't confirm, but that would be neat.

.........Why?
maverick_saturn_626 @ Jan 31st 2008 9:54AM
Our PSPs are calling for it, besides, the only other game like this is beats, which is in fact a bargain ^^

Its a good idea. Its a nice relaxing game that you can get in and out of without a lot of time. More or less, its perfect for handheld.

@maverick_saturn_626: I would recommend Kula World as well - you may know it as Roll Away.
I loved that back on the PSone, and jumped on it when it landed on PSN.

Sony, I am begging you, please stop developing new stuff for the PSP.
I already bought the PS3, and I have been diligently sinking money into games and BD movies.
But enough already, I don't want to purchase another device!
Please do my wallet a favor and stop adding to the value of that little beauty!

That was the best use of sarcasm I've read on Joystiq yet lol
NATO_Duke @ Jan 31st 2008 10:23AM
Whether you were really kissing Sony's ass or not - that kinda post makes my stomach turn.

More Flow is great (big fan of the game, since before it came out on PS3), but COME ON - I've already bought the game and the expansion... Do I have to buy it again? This is rediculous.

I agree completely. I think its really crummy (as a consumer) that even though I already bought the game they probably won't allow you to play it on both systems. At most they may patch the PS3 version to allow remote play (while nice is a very limited feature by comparison). It would be much better if games like these instead were more like the PSX titles. Where you get to play them on both platforms. We're going to have this same issue when echochrome comes out. Why bother putting it out on both systems? Just make one version that you can play on both instead. I wish Everyday Shooter (which plays on PS3 with the d-pad and face buttons and would work fine on PSP) also was transferrable.
They can do what they want (it's their product), but I certainly can't justify purchasing any of it again even though I'd love to play them on my PSP.

Obiligatory vote for Mac support.
I don't own a PS3 and Sony not supporting Mac users is not selling me on a PS3 very well.
..and these companies wonder why folks go to torrents....
maverick_saturn_626 @ Jan 31st 2008 10:29AM
Torrents for PSP yeah, PSP doesn't work on Mac? :S
Nate @ Jan 31st 2008 10:59AM
What? ........ no, seriously, what?
What does the PS3 have to do with a PC *OR* a Mac?
deaftly @ Jan 31st 2008 11:47AM
You bought a mac expecting everything to "just work" with it? haha
umm....hello??? @ Jan 31st 2008 10:33AM
umm...WHY would you even buy it once?!! it's a FREE flash game on the internet.
Charles @ Jan 31st 2008 10:52AM
BECAUSE...it has more value (it's longer and there are more evolutionary levels), better graphics and its portable!...
TC @ Jan 31st 2008 10:52AM
PSN Downloader is not compatible with Mac OS.
I am not buying MS OS for this app. MS was lucky to get my $$ with the 360.
When you download the file from the PS Store you cannot unzip it using a Mac OS and your only option if you REALLY want the file is to:
A. Find a PC to use or
B. torrent...
.. and considering I have Comcast the torrent is more painful than tracking down a PC, which is also a PITA.
maverick_saturn_626 @ Jan 31st 2008 11:05AM
Ouch :S its hurts being a Mac user :P
Jamesology @ Feb 4th 2008 4:37PM
I thought Mac owners are use to the fact that nothing is compatible already, LMAO JK

:(
Greyseal @ Jan 31st 2008 11:48AM
This news makes me happy! Flow was (amazingly) the only PS3 exclusive that made me wish I had one. And this gives me a reason to charge up the old PSP again, too!
TC @ Jan 31st 2008 11:53AM
Depending on how long it has been you could be in for 10-20 firmware updates..LOL...
Greyseal @ Jan 31st 2008 12:03PM
Ha -- that's ok. My PSP is happy to get used at all nowadays. Even if it's just coming out for an update, it gets all excited. Otherwise, it just sits on the shelf, getting jealous of the DS.
na2ru1 @ Jan 31st 2008 12:25PM
I think it wud be ns to add a bit more variety of colours........pwetty colours.......like the raiiiinboooww.
sorry......but honest, make it look more like as colourful as sealife colours. I lik eye candy
Mike Benner @ Jan 31st 2008 2:27PM
With the 3.90 update yesterday adding MORE support for PSN titles, I wouldn't be surprised if this is will be free for those of us that already bought it.
And for the record, PixelJunk Monsters for the PSP next please, remote play is cool, but finding WiFi is not always an option.
Lekko @ Jan 31st 2008 9:39PM
Okay..
Now make flow on the PS3 remote-play enabled so I don't have to buy the same game twice.
