Developer Load Inc. has a thing for bite-sized vehicles, having already released the diminutive XBLA racer Mad Tracks, and while that failed to inspire much interest from the gaming press there's something to be said for a company that sticks with its passion. Now the studio is working on a second toy car-based project called Things on Wheels, which will be published by SouthPeak Games over Xbox Live Arcade and the PC this summer.
Details are light, though SouthPeak notes that the game will feature "non-linear track design," as players race radio-controlled cars from room to room in an "expansive virtual house." It all sounds interesting, though honestly, when it comes to games based around toys, these sorts of announcements just remind us how much we want a sequel to Toy Commander.

Toy Commander, wow. brings back memories. That game was awesome. I used to play that with all the time with friends. Heres to hoping!

non-linear track design like that rarely works, if all the paths are clear then people take the shortest one and there's no real point. It does work though in games like Burnout Paradise, in which (in BP's case) events promote a linear path but it's up to the player to find the quickest route, since in that case finding the quickest route (and being able to pull it off) is a matter of skill.

Mad Tracks is an awesome multiplayer game. Whether its my regular live cohorts round for some beers, or non-gaming mates around, everyone laughs their arse off, particularly at the table soccer, and the skyscraper level where you turn the cars to ice and then ram them off the edge. so much fun, the reviewers seriously got it wrong. cant wait for their new game

Thanks for your comments!
We're big ReVolt fans ourselves (here's to LAN during lunch break).
ToW is a pure racer in a huge environment.
We'll get your opinion on it through your usual forums in time, don't worry :-)
