Lost on Xbox Live Marketplace now, King of Kong coming in Feb.
Just in case you – the loner, who refused to get "caught up" in Lost hysteria – feel left out while everyone (everyone who still cares that is) watches the season opener of the popular cliffhanger-fest, Microsoft has announced that their deal with ABC Television and MGM (first announced at CES) is finally coming to fruition. Part of that deal is ... wait for it ... high-def Lost episodes on Xbox Live Video Marketplace. You can nab the first three seasons now – at 160MS points for SD, 240 for HD ($2 and $3 respectively) – or get the first episode of season four tomorrow (or at abc.com for free if you prefer).
Other ABC shows like Ugly Betty and Desperate Housewives are being added, along with Disney Channel programming like Hannah Montana (you know, for kids). Those MGM movies are being added beginning February 18th, including the complete Rocky series, some James Bond pics, and Mr. Brooks. Most notable, perhaps, is this month's addition of King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters, the well received documentary about two arcade champs.

I wonder how poor this will look compared to the stellar Blu-Ray version. How much compression does MS use?
THE WICKER MAN (BWF) (GT: Dalek Prime) @ Jan 31st 2008 11:33PM
how much flamming will you use is the question?
Trickob @ Jan 31st 2008 11:42PM

brad77 @ Feb 1st 2008 1:44AM
Just watched it. It's in HD. No surprise ABC is breaking out their prized HD video cameras for their cash cow.
colin @ Feb 1st 2008 4:34PM
i was talking about king of kong not being in HD, i guess i wasn't paying enough attention.
Fernando Rocker @ Jan 31st 2008 11:35PM

Fernando Rocker @ Jan 31st 2008 11:36PM
*I have never downloaded... or how is the correct phrase?
=(
DWells55 @ Feb 1st 2008 12:17AM
"I have never downloaded" is the correct usage.
Vegeta (aka Ska Oreo) @ Feb 1st 2008 1:44PM
I don't think so.

Christopher Grant @ Jan 31st 2008 11:40PM
Good point! Added that bit in.
Cronjob @ Feb 1st 2008 1:20AM
Yeah. As long as you only use Mac or Windows.
Paul @ Feb 1st 2008 2:11AM

NotASenator @ Feb 1st 2008 8:34AM
"Free" as in "I don't mind screwing over the writers"
Ethan Rom @ Feb 1st 2008 9:45AM
Watch it on ABC.com in a small window with commercials? I'd rather pay $3 and watch it on my big screen without commercials in HD.
t_m @ Feb 1st 2008 11:00AM
as long as you are in the US
Monkeydog @ Jan 31st 2008 11:39PM
I love "Hannah Montant."
waynski1457 @ Feb 1st 2008 12:20AM

upz @ Feb 1st 2008 10:31AM
Except you seem to have regressed into some sort of pig faced creature...
Purple Haze @ Feb 1st 2008 12:22AM
Fuck lost. I've watched the first three seasons and I still don't know what the fuck is going on.
brad77 @ Feb 1st 2008 1:45AM
No shit. They sure take their time to tell a story.
FoxHoundADAM @ Feb 1st 2008 9:20AM
LOL it's so true. I tried soooo hard to like LOST. The individual episodes are really good but when you realize you've watched 14 episodes and ti's only like 2 hours after they have crashed in their time you're like WTF I'm not waiting till season 15 to find out how the hell they get off the island.
t_m @ Feb 1st 2008 11:05AM
I gave up after half a season... but always worried I was missing something.
Luckily, someone posted a 6 minute recap of all the seasons so far on youtube... and i realised I wasn't missing anything at all.
driven2sin @ Feb 1st 2008 12:34AM
so its $3 an episode?!?!?!
Deck @ Feb 1st 2008 1:08AM
Bleh... forget LOST.
Plus... $3/episode is crap. Amazon Unboxed ftw!
Cronjob @ Feb 1st 2008 1:19AM
I would totally pay $3/season instead of downloading via bit torrent at 25gb (the only option since those idiots at ABC made it so that linux users can't access it -- it even crashes firefox in WINE).
chris @ Feb 1st 2008 2:22AM
Hell yeah, $3/season would be hella sweet. Except I think that's just a typo. $3/episode sounds more like M$' style.
Orangecoke @ Feb 1st 2008 11:33AM
Dont suppose this applies to Canada?
Drago Dracini @ Feb 1st 2008 12:24PM
^^; In my opinion Lost doesn't compare to Heroes... but at least the network is releasing a show people actually watch on Live... ;p
343 Guilty Fart @ Feb 1st 2008 2:08PM
OMG HURLEY IS IN TEH FUTURE!!
Dirk Dorkelson @ Feb 1st 2008 5:38PM
$3 for an HD episode is absurd. A physical set of Blu-ray discs (currently $58 on Amazon), which includes all sorts of extras, is like $10 cheaper than buying all the episodes via download on Xbox Live ($69 for 23 episodes). The people guiding these pricing decisions will make a lot more $$ once they figure out that most of us won't pay more money for digital media than it costs to own an actual physical copy of it.
