Parappa creators bringing 'Major Minor's Majestic March' to Wii
Yeah, yeah, we're intrigued by the possibilities of Wii Music but, like you, we're disappointed by that game's apparent lack of marching! Someone at Majesco apparently feels the same way, because the company today announced Major Minor's Majestic March for the Wii.
Featuring the talents of Parappa the Rapper designer Masaya Matsuura and artist Rodney Greenblat, the game will ask players to use the Wii remote to "keep tempo, recruit new band members and pick up valuable items." The release promises eight "whimsical" locations, a "dynamic procession" of up to 15 instruments and 25 "popular marching band songs." We hope they can secure the rights to some of the hits from Sousaphone Hero. The promise of conducting our own version of "Stars and Stripes Forever" by Holiday 2008 is just too delicious to contemplate.

Is really not the same without PaRappa the rapper.
Lemmiwinks @ Jan 31st 2008 11:49AM
And the bridge between band geeks and videogame geeks is built.
...okay, it was already there. "Reinforced" then.
Jay @ Jan 31st 2008 2:39PM
There is absolutly nothing wrong with that.
as far as the game DO WANT
Lemmiwinks @ Jan 31st 2008 2:52PM
As a saxophone-playing gamer, I never said there was.
Definitely DO WANT as well. I'm hoping for some kind of formations game mechanic.
This is the type of stuff I've been hoping for on Ninty's little box.

Ah, nice to find another one of the fellows on this vast abyss that is the good ole internet

hey small world. i played Tenor Sax in my high school marching band. well middle school to freshmen year high school at least, then i played the #5 Bass Drum my sophomore year, and Quads my junior and senior year. i can also proudly say that my high school marching band had a winning streak going from 1992 til last year when they finally got a 2nd place. too bad it ended but we won all the parades i was in! band geeks FTW!

It's Everything i ever wanted in Rock Band! A Tuba, a Flute, and my Ex getting estatic about it... yey... really...
-_-
Looks like it might not suck though :-P

I read the headline and I was like "Yay!", then I read the article and I was like "Meh"
If you can create your own drills, this would be cool.

...
BAND GEEK ALERT!
...
:\
But Seriously... this game has limited appeal anyways, so might as well go all out :-P
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Jan 31st 2008 12:01PM
Band geek indeed! Marched Percussion for 6 years (4 in highschool, 2 in college). It was the best freaking time I've had.
Bloo @ Jan 31st 2008 11:56AM
Any collaboration between Masaya Matsuura and Rodney Greenblat is a must purchase for me. Can't wait!
Fernando Rocker @ Jan 31st 2008 12:01PM

All I can say is... NatalieDee.com! I think this is the third or fourth Natalie Dee cartoon that has been shown on Joystiq. Hooray! Anyone else read Natalie Dee, Toothpaste for Dinner, or Married to the Sea?
Tommy @ Jan 31st 2008 12:11PM
I have read Toothpaste for Dinner, Married To The Sea, and Natalie Dee for years now. I was actually a T-shirt winning runner up in one of the TfD photo contests. They are freaking hilarious.
Jason @ Jan 31st 2008 12:06PM
Finally a place for the joke "One time at band camp we used a wiimote..." It had to come in somehow!
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Jan 31st 2008 12:07PM
You get voted down for bringing back the dumbest joke I've heard to many damn times.
CJC @ Jan 31st 2008 12:07PM
I played Parappa just last week, and the gameplay hasn't aged particularly well.
The music is still great though.
CreepersCreek @ Jan 31st 2008 12:48PM
Is there a level where you have to dodge batteries thrown by your own drunken football fans? There could also be a level called "Drumline Hangover Challenge." How about road apple dodging in parade mode... especially with all the animal characters.
Will the trumpet players all be roosters (if you know what I mean)?
This looks like a total flop so far.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Jan 31st 2008 2:18PM
Sounds like someone hated their band experience.
Sidepocket @ Jan 31st 2008 2:26PM
I love how people are saying "This looks like a foo-foo kids game and the game play concept is going to flop!"
Guess what? That is what everyone else thought when they pitched Parappa the Rapper to people and Sony in circa mid 1990. In fact initially Sony made a low number of copies because they thought it was going to sell poorly, only to be swamped with demand.
So in short, fuck off. ;D
Mr Khan @ Jan 31st 2008 3:31PM
What i'm seeing is Wii Music in the style of Parappa the Rapper
Do Want.
Deck @ Jan 31st 2008 4:27PM
Turn to the left, turn to the right, step on the brake, step gas.. STOP! The door is ajar.....
Booxatron @ Jan 31st 2008 5:43PM
Do you know why we stopped the car?
Do I know why we stopped the car?

I forgot to close the door
You forgot to close the door

Shockgamer @ Feb 1st 2008 2:52AM
I want to say "Baby's game" so bad....but I loved PaRappa. :(
