Rock Band DLC for March revealed in OXM ad
According to X3F, who heard it from Megatonik, who saw it on ScoreHero, who cribbed it from scans on GameFaqs, OXM like totally printed all the Rock Band DLC for March in its new issue. We've confirmed the tracks are revealed in an advertisement for Xbox Live that was placed by Microsoft. There's no mention of prices, but if March releases follow the general trend, it should be 440 MS points ($5.50) for a pack and 160 MS point ($2) for a single song.

Pretty cool, I'm excited about the new Metallica and Nine Inch Nails.
I just really wish they'd add some songs that are current. As much as I hate Nickleback, they're the only big group I can think of as an example.
FOXHOUND @ Jan 31st 2008 12:52PM
I'm sure you could think of a lot better than Nickelback if you thought just a moment longer. Talk about horrible stuff there. I still have a track on my PC that a friend sent... it has two of their tracks played atop one another, sounding and ending almost exactly the damn same. x_x
Wouldn't mind getting a Dethklok or Static-X track though...
Anam @ Jan 31st 2008 1:01PM
Hey now, Nickelback used to be awesome. It's just their new stuff (Silver Side Up and later) that sucks. I would love to have their song "Curb" on Rock Band, or a handful of other choices from their first two albums.
xGeneral DEATHx @ Jan 31st 2008 1:24PM
I hope the Dethklok pack would contain the master for "DethHarmonic".
I WANT TO KEEP MY MONEY...
AND GIVE AWAY ABSOLUTELY NOTHING...
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Jan 31st 2008 1:27PM
Coffee Jingle FTW!
booticon @ Jan 31st 2008 3:42PM
They would only have to release one Nickleback song, as they are all essentially the same.
FOXHOUND @ Jan 31st 2008 3:59PM
It took a moment('cause I was laughing at booticon's hilarious response... +1 for him); but here's the songs by the aforementioned that I would like to see on ROCK BAND:
DETHKLOK ... "Hatredcopter", "Dethecution(Let the Dying Begin)", "Duncan Hills"
STATIC X ... "Fix", "Dirthouse", "Ostego Undead"
And as an added bonus, I'd like a special DLC track of "I'm Just a Rock 'n' Roll Clown" by Dr. Rockso.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Jan 31st 2008 4:34PM
This is probably not the time, nor the thread to mention this, but when Harmonix said they were going to have more gamer culture related songs (like the halo them on GH3), I immediately thought of how cool it would be to have "Number One" from the Bleach soundtrack as DLC.
MarkHawk @ Jan 31st 2008 6:02PM
In Response to game culture songs, I was hoping for the Portal Theme song... you should make a note here about it Harmonix ;)
ThornedVenom @ Jan 31st 2008 10:00PM
I want Awaken from Dethklok.
It sounds so good. T_T And it's all about awakening trolls, relevant to Joystiq.
XanthouS @ Jan 31st 2008 12:35PM
Fan-freaking-tastic. This is why I don't like knowing tracks ahead of time, I've gotta wait two months to belt out the lyrics to Fuel? Argh! ;)
NIN pack is awesome. Skynyrd is awesome. Sabbath is awesome.
But yeah, how 'bout Feb?
deaftly @ Jan 31st 2008 12:36PM
March of the Pigs = Instant Purchase
Zoot Suit Jedi @ Jan 31st 2008 1:08PM
agreed. drummies should be radical on that one.
Rollins @ Jan 31st 2008 1:21PM
The drums will be effing crazy on The Perfect Drug too. And the bass should be fun.
That said, The Collector? Seriously? Why?
Still, I'll pick it up the second it's out.
jdeuel @ Jan 31st 2008 1:32PM
holy jesus, and people thought tom sawyer was hard!
youtube for the uninformed: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCjpyPqwXNA
Brian Fantana @ Jan 31st 2008 1:40PM
I was going to say the same. March of the Pigs would be fun as hell on drums.
loungemonkey @ Jan 31st 2008 12:37PM
Some good ones...some awful ones.
XanthouS @ Jan 31st 2008 12:55PM
That's the beauty of Rock Band DLC, it appeals to a large variety of tastes. I don't particularly like some of the DLC out there, but I'm glad it is there, because surely others will enjoy it.
Noel @ Jan 31st 2008 3:10PM
I don't have an issue with Rock Band appealing to a large variety of tastes. However, well over half of these songs are from bands which already have at least one track (usually more) available in Rock Band. I wouldn't call that appealing to a large variety of tastes, I would call it appealing to the tastes of your current audience.
I was fairly impressed with the variety and selection of tracks that came with Rock Band, but the DLC seems to be rehashing the same musical groups over and over again.
ViagraFiend @ Jan 31st 2008 12:39PM
NIN
Finally, some good music.
There's still no way in hell I'd pay that much for a game. And then people keep spending money on it from DLC.
loungemonkey @ Jan 31st 2008 12:45PM
The game is an amazing party game....much better than the Wii in that regards.
Girls and Boys love it...it is the new Slinky!
KrazyIan @ Jan 31st 2008 12:40PM
Wow. I never thought I would see balls-to-the-wall awesomeness that is At the Gates on a mainstream product like Rock Band. Kudos to the downloadable content team.
Seriously. Blinded by Fear will rock your face off.
Zoesch @ Jan 31st 2008 3:49PM
I don't like NIN that much either but Fernando, just STFU, there's people who do like NIN.
And to clarify, NIN was influenced by Skinny Puppy, Ministry and The Young Gods, to the point that Down With It is waaay too close to Skinny Puppy's Dig It.
Zoesch @ Jan 31st 2008 3:52PM
My awesomeness in following comments is unrivaled :(
That was a reply to Fernando, not you.
BTW, why not Entombed instead? Left Hand Path, To Ride Shoot Straight and Tell The Truth or Chaos Breed would be awesome songs to play along to
Fernando Rocker @ Jan 31st 2008 12:41PM
NIN? Good music? Really, whats wrong with the world...
muddyhelmit @ Jan 31st 2008 12:46PM
I think the question is, what's wrong with you?
Fernando Rocker @ Jan 31st 2008 12:48PM
I guess my 70's and 80's music is no longer alive in this world...
=(
ViagraFiend @ Jan 31st 2008 12:52PM
NIN is influenced heavily by 70's and 80's music. You not liking them is just another reason why every time I see a comment by you, I vote it down. No matter how much the comment might make sense, I vote it down.
Dauragon88 @ Jan 31st 2008 12:53PM
Hey dude, i listen to Nine Inch Nails AND 70's 80's music TOO :O
*waits for your head to explode*
Anam @ Jan 31st 2008 1:06PM
Nine Inch Nails is one of the few new...ish bands that I listen to. Most of the music I listen to is 70's and 80's or retro bands like Wolfmother.
deaftly @ Jan 31st 2008 1:16PM
Fernando, NIN's first album pretty hate machine was released in 1989, so technically that is 80's music. Jackass.
DCBlack @ Jan 31st 2008 1:25PM
This is like going to the Superbowl and running around yelling "football sucks!" You're just not going to win that argument, and sometimes it is better to keep your mouth shut. Just because you don't like NIN doesn't mean anyone else gives a damn.
XanthouS @ Jan 31st 2008 1:31PM
Fernando? Keep his mouth shut?
When pigs fly...
Or march...?
DWells55 @ Jan 31st 2008 1:45PM
You know, I strongly disagree with Fernando a lot of the time, but it really seems like a lot of you just wait for any chance you can get to attack him.
sicsided @ Jan 31st 2008 2:19PM
it really isn't waiting to attack him, especially when he basically disses a band that is extremely popular, and has been around since the time period he says Trent Reznor wasn't around creating what is now NIN. But yes we do wait to attack sometimes, mainly because he does the same with Sony articles and commentors
muddyhelmit @ Jan 31st 2008 12:52PM
quit complaining, you still have Guitar Hero Encore: Rock the 80's. LOL
muddyhelmit @ Jan 31st 2008 12:57PM
my bad, this should have been a reply to Fernando Rocker's comment, not a new post
Garrett @ Jan 31st 2008 12:57PM
"Simple Man" is the only song on this list that excites me.
I'm really surprised they haven't put up any big-time US 80s-90s indie-rock stuff. I'd think there'd definitely be a market for Pavement / Sonic Youth / Dinosaur Jr-type stuff among Rock Band's user base. Playing along to Husker Du's "Celebrated Summer" would be awesome.
Carlos @ Jan 31st 2008 12:59PM
OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!!!! AT THE GATES!!!!!!!!!!! BLINDED BY FEAR!!!!!! That's it, i'm not waiting for the wii version anymore
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SF0U77bm9mc
and Fernando Rocker, i fear your taste in music, i really do
sambo @ Jan 31st 2008 1:06PM
OMF'nG!!!!
AT THE GATES!!!!!
unbeliveable!
toLkKi @ Jan 31st 2008 1:08PM
Slaughter Of The Soul would have been so much better IMO.
Still, it's a good start of hopefully many more to come.
Carlos @ Jan 31st 2008 1:11PM
well, it's not my fave song in the album but it's their single and most known song, so it makes sense. Funny one of the other songs is from The Haunted, which guitarrists were former At the Gates members, i guess there's a fan of them at EA or something hehe
Dauragon88 @ Jan 31st 2008 1:01PM
I would personally love to see some Deftones. I dunno how well it would translate into gameplay though.
bhawk1 @ Jan 31st 2008 1:04PM
Not bad. Where's Feb's lineup?
Incubus, Lenny Kravitz, Journey (not weak sauce "any way you want it" Journey), Hendrix, Linkin Park, Santana. That is what I need.
Can't wait for more bands to see the revenue possibilities, hopefully they already have given DLC is selling.
Kizzle @ Jan 31st 2008 1:07PM
NIN - March of the Pigs
Awesome. I'll buy all of the Nine Inch Nails stuff.
Iron Maiden - Wrathchild
Would be awesome, but it's a cover. Hopefully it's better than the terrible GH Rocks the 80's version.
Metallica - Fuel
Wow, they managed to find one of the few Metallica songs (besides all of St. Anger) that I won't buy. This game makes you look dumb enough in the first place, throwing this P.O.S. track in there with its ultra-lame lyrics and dull, repetitive guitar part will only excite the most easily amused Metallica fan. There are a few decent tracks on Load/Reload, but I don't trust the devs to pick them out. They need to stick with the Black Album and prior.
Anyway, I'm glad to see they are keeping up the variety rather than focusing on one or two types of music. At the Gates is a nice surprise.
Laura @ Jan 31st 2008 1:12PM
I have just recently played rock band and I have to tell you that it was more fun than I ever thought it would be. I was surprised at how well I knew most of the songs even though I did not try to tackle the microphone. I stick to the guitar and the drums and messing up on both of those is almost as half as fun as getting 100%. I was excited to see the big song choices that they had to offer in the game. The upcoming songs too look very good as well. I can’t wait until they come out so I can play them! I am definitely excited for Simple Man and Message in a Bottle.. I am a big fan of the Police and Lynyrd Skynyrd! I must admit thought that I agree with a few of the previous comments, I hope they do come out with some more recent songs.
baby sea tuna @ Jan 31st 2008 1:14PM

Eric @ Jan 31st 2008 1:19PM
Nickleback was never awesome. Why is this band popular someone tell me, please? Their sad excuse for so called "Post Grunge". But in reality they're not grunge. They're a subgenre of rock known as "Nu-Metal". Usually Loved by pre-teens, Lead singer Chad is an extremely nasal "Marlboro Man" type vocalist who sounds constipated on a permanent basis. Guitar consists mostly of easy-to-play power chords that give the band a "tough" sound to the untrained ear, but a closer look reveals a band that has nothing to offer creatively. Also there two hit singles, "How You Remind Me" and "Someday", sound nearly identical when played simultaneously.
jynxycat @ Jan 31st 2008 2:29PM
I admire your attempt to be elitest, but Nu-metal has nothing to do with a band just being lame or commercial.
Nu-metal in it's original definition, was stuck to bands with vocal styles infused with hip-hop/rap flavors, along with a mixture of instrument styles that Nickleback doesn't even embody.
Few pop/commercial rock bands even fit the genre, but since people seem to relate "nu" with nub/noob, the border was blurred. I'd say Linkin Park is the biggest band that actually fits the bill, along with early Korn, Limp Bikzit, early Deftones, System of a Down, P.O.D. and others.
The "genre" itself is sorta dead, with very few of those existing bands even following their original sound.
The more you know.
