I'd call it "Portal 2: Are You Still There?" or "Portal 2: Still Alive"

It is going to be tough to follow it up and have it be as good. Will they just make you another person trapped in there? Maybe a prequel where you can go around leaving messages for Chell? If they tie it in well, they could have it occur when Aperture Science goes down and have you start by watching that Powerpoint presentation while prepping your resume to try and get in at Black Mesa.

I'd love to play Portal in a "real world" environment rather than the test lab. When you broke out of lab tests and into the facility during Portal that was incredible.

I'd call it "Portal 2: Are You Still There?" or "Portal 2: Still Alive"

^^

good! better than the cake references.

enough with the cake references.

but how about....

"Portal 2"

After all they didnt call Half Life 2

"Half Life 2: More Gordon Freeman"

just Half Life 2.

Portal 2.

sounds sweet!

Maybe Valve will release another "Box" in '08, one that contains more Portal stuff, HL2: Episode 3 and er... other stuff?

Portal was the best game I had played in a long while, it was easily my game of the year.

That being said, I'm disappointed in this announcement. I do not want a sequel. I'm more interested in what other marriage of brilliant story-telling and innovative gameplay the Portal team can cook up. Portal was a perfect package (not a perfect game, mind you), the last thing anyone needs is it to all become unraveled and mediocre.

Portal 2 is to Portal, as Chrono Cross is to Chrono Trigger. Excellent game, yet completely unnecessary - actually disservices the original.
-----

DO bring on the merger of Aperture Science technology and Half-Life universe, please.

I wouldn't call it "Portal" anything; Valve wants a reputation for originality and branching out, despite the obvious goal of making money. Don't curse the new game with a title like "Portal II" then.

I liked the way the movies The Fugitive and US Marshalls had different titles, letting you know from the beginning that they were two different movies that just shared characters.

The sequel could be called anything using Aperture Science, GLaDOS, etc. to evoke the first game without jinxing it by flatly calling it a sequel. From a marketing standpoint, it makes more sense, too: it's not like anyone is going to be confused as to what game is being continued.
