Yahoo details gaming-friendly presidential candidates
We don't want to be thought of as single-issue voters. But we'd be lying if we didn't admit we look a little more favorably on politicians who we imagine might pick up a controller from time to time, in much the same way that people in Philadelphia are legally obligated to vote for a candidate they see eating a cheese steak sandwich at Pat's King of Steaks.
So this recent voting guide from Yahoo! Games has proved invaluable for us, and we're betting you can learn a little something too. (Spoiler alert: Obama and McCain are the most gaming-friendly on their respective sides of the aisle.) No, it may not be the only guide you need to the race, but if you're on the fence, it may just help to push you over.

That pic just became my new desktop background.
Bryan @ Jan 31st 2008 2:41PM
I didn't know you could run a computer on a gameboy.
samfish @ Jan 31st 2008 2:43PM
You know, like, half those people aren't running anymore, DON'T YOU, McElroy?
Korova @ Jan 31st 2008 3:04PM
Only the ones running have the speechbubble, you dumb blonde!
Lemmiwinks @ Jan 31st 2008 3:14PM
Well, if you notice, the speech-bubble is being "spoken" only by those who haven't yet dropped out of the race.
Except for Romney...
tmacairjordan87 @ Jan 31st 2008 2:48PM
Oh, well I guess I have another reason to vote Obama even though I already voted for him (Florida primary already happened)
Warlord @ Jan 31st 2008 2:49PM
What, no Kucinich? No Ron Paul? Boooo...
Very weak. None of them recognize that the "scandal" is mostly over-hyped bs trying to pinpoint today's trouble on the newest "rap music" or "rock music" or "pornography".
samfish @ Jan 31st 2008 3:04PM
Kucinich dropped out last week and Ron Paul is a moron, sooo...
Chris @ Jan 31st 2008 3:28PM
Ron Paul isn't a moron...he just doesn't have a snow balls chance in hell.
Jake11 @ Jan 31st 2008 3:12PM
no, no, he is moron
FOXHOUND @ Jan 31st 2008 3:17PM
Porn is what's keeping this capitalist economy working.
riggs @ Jan 31st 2008 3:17PM
a moron who doesnt have a snowballs chance in hell
NATO_Duke @ Jan 31st 2008 5:10PM
OK Paul - has some good ideas, but yeah, hes outta his mind. I went to his rally and when he started going on and on about the evils of child immunization I was shocked by the fact that people still use those conspiracy theories. Doesn't help he has all these weirdos running around giving pamphlets to people & telling them to watch you tube to learn more. That's just sad.
I'm a McCain supporter. The polls do show he could win this thing.
Bucket @ Jan 31st 2008 2:57PM
You earn extra awesome points for saying "Pat's" instead of "Geno's". Seriously. Geno's is overrated trash.
And put real cheese on your steaks, morons. White American.
deaftly @ Jan 31st 2008 5:17PM
Jim's and Tony Lukes are both way better
Bucket @ Jan 31st 2008 5:18PM
I don't disagree (in fact, I'd prefer a few places in the suburbs), but I'm tired of tourists thinking that Geno's == cheesesteaks.
Macktar @ Jan 31st 2008 5:47PM
steve's prince of steaks all day
Ben @ Feb 1st 2008 2:42PM
Agreed @ Macktar
Steve's > All
mbslrm @ Jan 31st 2008 3:02PM
I'd say Dr Ron Paul is the way to go. He supports the First Amendment, which would give game developers more freedom.
Chris @ Jan 31st 2008 3:07PM
I've been all in for Obama for a while now. But I think we'll be looking at President McCain this time next year.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Jan 31st 2008 3:18PM
I sure hope your right, because the alternative is President Clinton and First Lady Bill.
So basically exactly like '92-2000.
License to ill @ Jan 31st 2008 4:01PM
I sure hope you're wrong, McCain sucks monkey balls...
License to ill @ Jan 31st 2008 4:08PM
"So basically exactly like '92-2000".
Yeah those were some bad years unlike 2000-2008...
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Jan 31st 2008 4:13PM
McCain won't get elected. I think even Hilary could beat him.
Chris @ Jan 31st 2008 4:21PM
Right now polls show McCain beating both Democrats. Obama is fairing better than Hillary. We are a long way out from elections, but if Hillary get the nomination then I think McCain will beat her.
NATO_Duke @ Jan 31st 2008 5:12PM
Crono - the polls have show for a long time that McCain sits ahead of the dems - besides this, his popularity continues to rise while Hillary's doesn't.
dave @ Jan 31st 2008 3:13PM
As usual, another post in which Ron Paul is left out. I am a supporter, to the fullest, but even those of you who are not supporters have to admit that he is left out most anything that is done on all the candidates. Whether you support him or not, its absolutely not fair. I do realize that this was meaningless, but it is just more of the same old mainstream media garbage, leaving Ron Paul out.
Shame on you Yahoo.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Jan 31st 2008 3:20PM
I just hope ron paul has the good taste to bow out of the race once the conventions occur, and not try and run on an independent ticket. I'm all for the guy, but if you believe in his values and furthering those values, you'd understand that running 3rd party won't help anybody.
Except Hillary.
LaughingTarget @ Jan 31st 2008 4:42PM
Paul isn't that far behind in the delegates if you have been paying attention. If you've seen his latest strategy, he has a good shot of putting up decent numbers. #2 in Nevada, which puts up more delegates than the over-hyped South Carolina and a possible #1 in Louisiana isn't exactly a bow-out situation.
Anyway, he is far more gamer friendly than McCain can ever be.
Jerk Face @ Jan 31st 2008 4:58PM
Ron Paul is left out of everything because he is a lunatic.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Jan 31st 2008 5:02PM
http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/republican_delegate_count.html
I dunno, "4" is alot farther away from "93" than you might think, unless I'm reading this wrong.
LaughingTarget @ Jan 31st 2008 6:05PM
They're counting unpledged as definite, so it's way off.
Norm @ Jan 31st 2008 6:08PM
I feel the same way about Kucinich. Poor lil guy.
Jake11 @ Jan 31st 2008 3:13PM

SNK_Fan @ Jan 31st 2008 3:28PM
Ron Paul left out again? That's a shame as he would clearly be the best choice. Way to link to a clearly biased "voting guide" Joystiq.
Jeff @ Jan 31st 2008 3:29PM
Good thing I already support Obama.
However, based on his awesome free-trade views and all that, I doubt Ron Paul would do anything that could ever be perceived as anti-gaming.
And Ron Paul running as a third party-- or a candidate losing in the primaries-- DOES help. He gets a chance to share his views with others. It's a chance to show that there are voters who agree with him. He may not get a chance to execute the changes, but he will show everyone else that they are important, and that if they want some more votes, they will look at some of his ideas.
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Jan 31st 2008 3:59PM
And ultimately end up helping someone get elected that basically stands for the polar opposite of the guy you're voting for.
No, if you stand for his ideals, you'll vote for the viable candidate that most closely reflects them, not protest vote because your guy didn't get picked, ultimately helping the opposition.
Mr Khan @ Jan 31st 2008 4:36PM
Paul running would be bad for the Republicans, much like Perot before him. Perot split the GOP base in 92, clearing the way for the little-known guy from Hope, Arkansas
Ralph Nader is one of the biggest reasons W is in the white house right now.
Paul could only do similar damage. Unless 3rd parties can get full-scale support (like the Bull-Moose party or the Constitutional Union party), they generally hurt more than they help
Jeff @ Jan 31st 2008 3:30PM
Any reason you Bush-loving fascists link to page 2... the Republican page. =P
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Jan 31st 2008 3:53PM
You're a bush loving facist.
And by bush I mean hairy bush, and by facist I mean tool.
Jack @ Jan 31st 2008 4:12PM
I like bush from time to time. : /
deaftly @ Jan 31st 2008 3:38PM
That is one scary pic
Anthony33 @ Jan 31st 2008 3:54PM
I support Obama but I consider Ron Paul to be a very honest and inteligent man...who has no shot of winning. Also in response to Crono, what was so bad about 1992-2000?
Crono (NDF - Knight of the Old School) @ Jan 31st 2008 4:08PM
Janet Reno? Eilian Gonzales? Perjury? Impeachment? Al Qaeda's first attack on the cole, followed by no response? The opportunity to put Osama Bin Laden away for good, squandered? Tax Hikes? Nanny State? Any of this ringing a bell?
Knight Marquise @ Jan 31st 2008 4:24PM
Chrono beat me to it...but if you want more......I have them. ;)
Mr Khan @ Jan 31st 2008 4:38PM
No response is a bit harsh, we did bombard installations of theirs in Afghanistan and the Sudan (although the latter was a mistake)
But i don't think anyone can compare how Clinton let bin-Laden slip through his fingers to how Bush did back at Tora Bora
octowussy @ Jan 31st 2008 4:20PM
People from Philly know Pat's and Geno's are both tourist traps and there are far, far better cheesesteaks in the city.
deaftly @ Jan 31st 2008 5:14PM
Jim's FTW
NitroFrost @ Jan 31st 2008 4:34PM
Why does McCain have to be pro games I don't want to vote for him because he hates MMA and I love it WHY CRUEL WORLD WHY!!!
