Nintendo confirms cobalt/black DS Lite

When you look back over the various colors that the DS has been released in, with the exception of black, the schemes haven't exactly been the best for tough guys like ourselves. In fact, it sometimes seems like they're attempting to do the exact opposite. ("How can we trump pink with paw prints? How about sparklicious gold?") Finally, our prayers for a macho DS have (officially now) been answered by Nintendo, which unveiled the Cobalt/Black DS this morning.

We're willing to go on record as saying that this is the the toughest, manliest DS ever crafted. We'd bet it's made of recycled John Wayne VHS tapes and reeks of AXE body spray. If you're ready to look like a total stud while you play Pokemon, you'll only have to wait until Feb. 10.

Instead of staring at that pixelated mess we've had lying around, hit up our gallery to check out the nice higher-res shots (a whopping two!) Nintendo released this morning.

I think it's ugly.

Blue on black? It looks like a bruise. I'll take the pink one over this anyday. :P

I'd take my Japanese Ice Blue (it's ice, not baby thankyouverymuch) any day.

I prefer the Crimson/Black one myself. This one the variation from Cobalt to Black is just too miniscule for it to make a huge difference in looks than just and all blue or all black.

Still I do like that we are getting more variation, that way people can mix it up a bit and not see the same White or Pink ones everywhere.

Now they just need and Olive/Black one, I would totally pick that up.

I like it a lot, myself.

...although if you ever saw me, you'd notice after about a week that somewhere around 85% of my wardrobe, among other things, consists of dark blue, so perhaps I'm a bit biased towards t hat color.

You're not supposed to mix navy and black in clothing because it ends up looking weird, I don't know why we'd do it with a DS either.

I'll say. Anybody with the slightest knowledge of style knows that dark blue and black do NOT compliment each other. They must have fired the gay guy who designed all the previous beautiful DS Lites just to get away with this.

I can't believe they didn't release the solid blue one. Those colors that Japan has are super snazzy. I'm an art student, granted, with lousy taste in fashion, but I don't think this looks awful, or even ugly. I think it looks pretty cool.

But I'd still much rather have a solid blue one any day.

Red and Black was cool, this would have done too if they used a darker shade of blue. Or maybe instead of another colour/black console, they could have done a aqua/white console. That would have looked 100X better than this...

I think it's even more badass to have a less-manly color. I have an ice blue DS Lite, and it makes me macho.

From day one I most wanted the navy blue lite. But we didn't get it so I settled for the also great black. Now I can have the best of both worlds! When I get it I'll be picking up a Hori protector so it doesn't get smudged and scratched all to heck like my black one has.

I'm torn. Do I want to bequeath my existing black to my roommate and buy this one outright, or trade it in and hope for $$$BIG BUCKS$$$?

"Your Duel is over butthead!",yelled Marty as he released a Lugia onto the field! But the elderly tannen had managed to grab the younger tannen and make good his escape! "Looks like team rockets blasting off again!" they yelled in triumph. But they did not see the pokemanure truck and crashed into with a terrible smash! The flux capacitor was caught mid air by Marty's lugia and the day was saved! The end! The Power of the crimson ds had saved the day!
