Standalone Rock Band mic not compatible with Wii; company regrets error

The statement's timing seems odd following yesterday's confirmation that Rock Band is coming to the Wii. It seems there's some issue with this specific microphone, meaning it should not be compatible with Boogie or High School Musical either, both of which use microphones plugged into the Wii's USB ports.

Maybe the Wii mic will be bluetoothie. =)
Still, I will get the 360 version, but I hope that the Wii version is good, with bluetooth instruments.
And I don't see the problem with the DLC. A 2GB SD card is more than enough...

They can afford to make the Wii mic wireless... I mean, probably the guitar in the bundle will use the Wiimote, like the Guitar Hero guitar.
LaughingTarget @ Feb 1st 2008 7:30PM
If they made it wireless, how could you spin it by the cord like a real rock star?
Trickob @ Feb 1st 2008 7:08PM
i hope someone got fired for that one

Kind of funny, how people said "Rock Band for Wii!" when that mic was released, then Rock Band is confirmed for Wii, and now the mic isn't even compatible. Go figure.

I must have missed it the first time, but are they seriously trying to sell "Rock Band" drum sticks?
Slayer @ Feb 1st 2008 7:17PM
That's pretty fucked up.

What a great game and concept, but they just keep messing up when it comes to the peripherals.

Not wholly related, but the strum bar on my strat broke today. Got the whole "double stum" syndrome (I'm not sure, but it might be a launch guitar. It arrived from Amazon on December 21st). And no free EA game offer either. My luck blows.

I really don't get why they didn't release Rock band on wii in the first place...

I'm confused about this. My Rock Band microphone works just fine plugged into the back of my Wii while playing Boogie (not that Boogie is a great game...). Does this mean the standalone version is somehow different?
Kentucky @ Feb 2nd 2008 3:57PM
Well thats funny because my rock band mic for my 360 worked on my sisters Wii when she played her high school musical game!
Ace of Sevens @ Feb 3rd 2008 3:51AM
Yes, your sister.

This is irony. The words have taken the opposite literal meaning.
