quickshade Im sorry, but yes, I read Joystiq, and its one of my favorite blogs, and I understand they humour and points of view, but hey, not everyone is perfect, and sometimes even them need to be corrected, or what? have you ever seen those "Updated" notice on the titles now and then?

I like the Joystiq's blogger's sense of humour, but hell, even Justin who has the funniest one, it's most of the time correct, or at least he corrects himself as soon as possible...

"Why do you come here and argue with everyone because they say something you don't like?"

aren't you doing the same with me?

"First off they have to have a camera, second they have to wear something goof and all for an effect that most people won't care for"

Have you ever played mmm....Time Crisis? you have to use this plastic gun, its quite fun if you ask me, but then again, I don't think the game is for everyone....

Technology takes it time to be polished...at the moment, it might not seem like much, but I wouldn't be surprised if 2 to 3 years down the road we see games implementing this technology, Imagine a Silent Hill game with this?

Oh, and btw, you aren't most people, you, just like me, are just one person...so we wouldn't know if this will be a hit or not until it is actually put on the market, which it hasn't been yet, but if you take in mind that the Wii has become such a hit, I don't see how this wouldn't make it....

Now THERE is the reason to move around with a motion controller(unlike Wii). This is new to me and i personally think its a fucking breakthru. 3d in 3D!!

Next NEXT gen cud be THIS. Image driving in cockpit view, ducking down and stuff. I am so curious of the potentials

why does it have to next next gen? both times this was achieved using already in place products (Wiimote and PlaystationEye) so in theory, we could see this kind of stuff during this generation. i dont think it's too far fetched to think that a game could come packed with a PSEye lens cap/Wiimote stand and a set of glasses with IR sensors on them. forget next next gen, this could happen NOW.

ok well since everyone wants to be negative nancy's on here tonight, im going to look at the positive.

i remember when Johnny Lee released his Wii version of the same thing a little while ago and again i will say that i am impressed. this could be the future of gaming right here (for some genres anyway) and the fact that every current gen console should be able to handle this right now should have everyone giddy. i mean seriously, can you imagine playing that FPS and actually looking around that corner or actually taking cover? it would be great. now i havent seen it done with an Xbox Live Vision camera but i dont know why it wouldnt be able to work on there too since all it's doing is sensing IR lights.

everyone should just calm down and patiently wait for the first games to actually use this tech.

It would be even worse if Sony had ripped off Nintendo. Thankfully they only riped them off. I am afraid, however, that the author has misused the word "riped". Clearly the author meant to say that Sony "ripened" off Nintendo, which is a damning allegation.

Just thought i would point out that Johnny Lee didn't write the program on the wii most likely because he didn't have the dev kit to write it for the wii. This guy does have it so he is writing it for the PS3. The program itself isn't graphically intensive or overly complex looking so even the lowly wii could probably run it. Lee just didn't have the tools for it.

It would be awesome if this became the standard for future 3d games. Indeed even current titles could be patched to support it (i'm thinking racing and action games). It's not even like a game needs to be based around it as a gimmick, and could be optional (just like hd). The prospect of playing not just new, but classic games like Doom in VR on my big screen with surround sound has got me praying someone takes this seriously.

It was impressive when it was done with the Wii Remote, and it's still impressive with the PS Eye.

In both cases, I get a real sense of depth and immersion from these demos. Moreso than from any Wii game or "OMG TEH HD IS REALZ" graphics. With either case, the virtual world still seems like a flat picture.

Having this implemented in racing games like Gran Turismo or in horror game like Silent Hill would be amazing. This would also be a very interesting method of control in FPS modes like in MGS when aiming. I think as an added optional feature (like Sixaxis in most PS3 games) it would be sweet. As a mandatory feature (shake the Wiimote to attack!) it would get annoying fast.

Also, think simpler people. Sell the game at $50, and include a headband with 2 IR lights powered by AAs. They'd last a long ass time, be less annoying then goggles. Hell, Warhawk came with a goddamn bluetooth headset, I think we can manage a headband.

So there you go, in one fell swoop you introduce the game, the extra "peripheral" if you wanna call it that, and you just say "PS Eye Required".

Same deal if Nintendo tries it, just include a Wiimote stand and say "Requires two controllers.".

Pretty cool but, wouldn't work well enough with the PS3 control. Better suited for the Wii. Nonetheless pretty neat!

This kind of input method has been available for quite some time for gaming. Too bad the software support is lacking.

I don't understand exactly what am I supposed to be amazed about since I've already seen Johnny Lee do this, and he gives credit to getting it from Johnny lee. I am very sure an Xbox360 can probably put out a device that can do the same thing now that Johnny Lee's video has been seen so I am not sure what to be amazed about. Someone already showed this so do I have to clap every time somebody else figures out how to do if for their system of choice.

THIS IS NOT FUCKING HACKING!!! SENSATIONALIST FUCKING MISLEADING INCORRECT FUCKING RETARDED FUCKING DIE KILL SEX FUCKING LAME FUCKING HACKING FUCKING HEADLINE.

There, I did it too... throw in a bunch of strong words to generate a response.

1) Did he modify the playstation eye at all? No. (adding a film filter does not count).

2) AND EVEN IF HE DID FUCKING MODIFY IS IT STILL WOULD NOT BE HACKING! IT WOULD BE MODING. FUCKING LAME GOD DAMN CHILDREN WANNABE WRITERS.

Y'know, if they just did it w/face detection software (like my teeny camera can do pretty damn well) and lose the goggles, the playstation eye could very well do some damage to the wii's motion sensing stranglehold.

That said, I've got a wii and not a PS3.. whoops.

Has any thought about getting a gun with a ir in it, Think about running up to a corner in an fps stickijng your head just around the corner see a couple of bad guys around the corner. You then just point the gun around the corner and shoot. That has always bugged me about FPS's only a select few have done them.
