I agree with Castlevania, that series has always had great music.
I really like the music in Dragon Quest Monsters Joker. It might now always stand out but some pieces are awesome and it scores high points in nostalgia for a long time Dragon Quest fanatic like myself.

Wild Guns for SNES had some good music, I also like all the music in Tetris DS.

Call me twisted, but I liked the WarioWare Touched music. I think the short tunes and melodies played could have been well developed into longer songs (I know, you could listen to them on the record player area of the game; however, they were still too short). I really liked the creepy vibe to Ashley's song, and the one for Mona was cute. Symphonic they are not. However, I don't think being capable of being translated into symphonic pieces needs to be the criteria for "good."

Does anyone remember the great music from Trace Memory? I thought it was beautiful and cinematic. I could really dig having that in my mp3 player. And it would translate well into symphonic pieces.

The use of music during trials in Phoenix Wright to accompany the different situations is really well done. Certainly gets the blood pumping when you're on the right track.

And though it's not a DS game my favourite music in any game ever is that of Donkey Kong Country on the SNES. Especially Gangplank Galleon and Oil Drum Alley.

"Bleach: The Blade of Fate" kept the awesome "Ichirin no Hana" by High and Mighty Color for the North American release. I own their "Gouon Progressive" album that includes that song.

While I like J-Pop music alot, I don't really care for the songs on Ouendan and Ouendan 2. They are okay, nothing special. Of the Ouendan/Ouendan 2 songs, my favorite is probably Mika Nakashima's "Glamorous Sky" from the "NANA" movie.

Peace.

I like the exploration music from Etrian Odyssey a lot. The harmonies are slightly weird, but it is simultaneously soft and eerie. Unfortunately, as the various strata themes are interrupted and reset at each random encounter, you have to stop and just do nothing to hear these themes to their end. Or use/cast repellant objects/spells.

Animal Crossing: Wild World, Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales, Ouendan (of course), and I'm kind of doped up on pain pills at the moment, so I'll think of more later.

Rhythm Tengoku has some catchy tunes, and it's arguably the last great GBA game.
