Sadly, in most of the movies he's been in recently he's been more of a support. So I think the B-list thing is true. That said, he's awesome!

I think the article relegates voice acting in video games into some sort of secondary tier career. A side-step move for actors that will somehow prolong their viability it is not, however. To a professional actor, a gig is a gig, and voice acting can be every bit as demanding as any role on stage or film. It's not just a paycheck, it's a piece of a career where every employment opportunity is a chance to entertain the masses (the true driving force for the consummate actor). It's a shame that while the video game community is constantly screaming to be taken seriously by the rest of the world, articles like this show gamers to see themselves as "B-list" and secondary. If you want to be taken seriously, take each part of the process seriously...even voice acting by stellar actors, regardless of perceived "fame levels."

In what parallel universe is Keith David's onscreen career not booming? He may not be a leading man or anything, but the guy's everywhere -- in no less than 12 TV/movie projects that haven't even been released.

No mention of Ron Perlman?

He's done some amazing voices in video games and cartoons. Including work in:
-Halo 2 & 3 - Lord Hood
-Fallout 1 & 2 (and 3!) as the Narrator
-Turok
-Hellboy cartoons
-Danny Phantom - Principal
-Justice League - Orion and Batman.
-The Batman - Killer Croc
-Hey! Arnold
And the one that surprised me the most was his role in "The Tick" Live Action series.

I love Ron Perlman. I may even have a man-crush on him, he's just that awesome.

Yeah. Definitely not a B-List actor. Christian Bale before Batman Begins... THAT is a straight-to-video, B-List actor. Keith is also the Voice for UPS, which most assuredly garners him quite a bit of the coin. His most famous work, however was in Requium for a Dream and I quote... ahem:

"Ass to ass..."

Wow, I couldn't disagree with you more about "down on their luck actors". When I look at the best voices in animation and video games, they are NOT screen actors at all. I think it's only a unique set of talented voice actors that can pull off an animated character with any dignity, regardless of what "list" they're on. You're way off, sir.

Let me add to the voices of people calling you out for saying Keith David a "B-List" actor. In any case doing voice work is not "less-than" doing on-screen work, it's just different work.

I suppose that you think that Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz & John Lithgow are all "B-List" because they did lowly voice-over work for the Shrek films.

I'm sorry, but since when is an actor with 145 acting credits to his name, including films such as Platoon, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Pitch Black, The Chri=onicles of Riddick, and TV shows like ER and 7th Heaven, considered "B-list"?

And how does his film/TV acting career in any way relate to his voice career, which is a totally different animal?

I signed up to post on this discussion to just let Mr. McElroy know that his piece is, and I quote "condescending, dismissive" and "profoundly misinformed, and based on such confirmation bias, it's too stupid to be offensive". Here's the link to a successful actor/writer who doesn't need to be on any list: http://wilwheaton.typepad.com/wwdnbackup/2008/02/regarding-voice.html

Further congratulation to Mr. McElroy, for making sure that I never sully my browser window with his "reporting" from this day forward.
