The Team ICO games justify the purchase of a PS2. If their next game is as atmospheric, creative, and involving, then that alone will make having a PS3 worthwhile.

I can only wish that they will re-release ICO and Shadow of the Colossus in HD. I would buy them again, in a heartbeat. If they contained added content, in less than a heartbeat.

Me? A Team ICO fanboy? Nah, I just like their style, and would sell my firstborn if it meant their next game was as good as the previous two.

Ico and SOTC are the reason that I own the PS3. I knew that Ueda's next game would be Sony exclusive, so it was a no-brainer. And having backwards compatibility to keep playing the old ones was just icing on the cake.

Absolutely, unquestionably, my picks for the 2 best games. Ever.

If I am not mistaken Lost Planet 2 comes first then Dead Rising 2.

As for Ico I can't wait to find out what games they are making.

"2007 sucked for the PS3?"

Resistance, Motorstorm, Ninja Gaiden Sigma, Virtua Fighter 5, Heavenly Sword, Folklore, Eye of Judgment, Warhawk, Ratchet and Clank Future, Unreal Tournament 3, and Uncharted: Drake's Fortune *DISAGREE.

i thought for a first year, the PS3's easily trumped the Playstation 2's. whose first year was pretty unremarkable barring less than a handful of quality titles.

there were also some great multi-platform games released on the PS3 last year (ie, The Darkness, GRAW 2, Rainbow Six Vegas, Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty 4, etc), so a sole Playstation 3 owner wasn't hurting too bad either.

this whole thing about the PS3 having a shitty year is a load of bunk. i enjoyed the console immensely, and i didn't have a 360 last year, nor did i need one (i don't like Halo, Lost Planet, and Dead Rising were mediocre, Crackdown was good, but boring after you beat the campaign, and the only two games i have for my 360 are Bioshock and Mass Effect. i have more PS3 games than 360 games right now, and in the foreseeable future).

people question why the PS3 wasn't selling more last year (besides the price, i mean), and i point to the complete and utter media blasting the console got the past two years, and the fact that no matter how *GOOD a PS3 exclusive actually was, the gaming media downplayed it to absurd levels (i'm looking at you Gamespot, and giving Ratchet and Clank Future a 7/10), and most gaming stores seem to be run by rabid 360 and Wii fanboys, who try to divert potential PS3 buyers by spreading FUD and bull about "no games," "Blu Ray sucks," "and the hardware is faulty" (i've actually heard a gamestop/eb clerk say that the PS3 breaks down *MORE than the 360).

this year is most certainly the revenge of the Playstation 3, but not because last year sucked, but because consumers, and the gaming media, are finally opening their eyes to how great a product the machine is.

I couldn't agree more. The PS3 was completely underrated.

Also, I don't support Gamestop. I get insulted or treated badly EVERY single time I go there. It is a horrible feeling. They don't really even know games that well, as you mentioned. That and "bigger" chains will put games on sale ... which is nice when you are buying said PS3 titles.

That'd be some GOTY material but they shouldn't release it around the same time as MGS4 and FFXIII or even Killzone2.

Damn that's too many acronyms for this early in the day.

I'd buy Dead Rising 2 in a heartbeat. I almost bought an Xbox 360 for the first one.
